I have a 3800 square ft house, three stories hardwired with Cox gigablast and their router they rented me was absolute trash. I could never get speeds anywhere near my capability and my signal would drop throughout my house. This below system is amazing. I have a super strong connection at every corner and in my hard as well. I run around 30 devices at a time with no slow down. (part of this is being hardwired but the whole Wi-Fi helps tremendously with keeping the signal strong. The app is decent for it but I am always using it to run speed tests and check the efficiency of my connection.

The Linksys VELOP wireless internet is really great. Super easy to setup and use. Beautiful, ergonomic design; looks nice sitting on a living room credenza. Brought better WiFi connection to my whole house. Hardest part (not really) was downloading the software onto my tablet to do the setup.

Despite some negative reviews, I purchased this from BestBuy and am glad I did. I did have a problem during setup, getting the message "unable to locate modem". I have Time Warner Cable and I run their modem in bridge mode. Once I finally got someone from support (Seth), he recognized the issue right away and stepped me through finding out the MAC address of my modem and did some magic to make it connect! I have Nest thermostats, Tivo, Sonos speaker, several network printers, a scanner, iPad device and two PC's. They all are working just fine. I did have to unplug/plug my Tivo Bolt to get it to work, but otherwise all other devices were automatic.

I have listened to my family complain about our poor wifi for several years. My solution was always getting a better router and/or a range extender. The complaints kept coming. I was getting frustrated and then I came across what I will call "the greatest technology since sliced bread" wifi systems. I chose the Velop system by Linksys. It was a snap to install (took about 10-15 minutes) and is working as advertised. The complaint department has been shut down now due to a lack of business. That's a good thing!!! Really nice system and it covers my entire 2800 square foot home with full speed from my ISP. Definitely recommend!!!

I have tried multiple ways to fix the horrible wifi in my townhouse; and while some have helped with signal strength, none have improved download speeds....until now!!! The signal is though the roof-literally-I can 5-6 units down the street and still be connected!! Upload and download speeds that actually match what I am paying for 100up and down! The setup took a little bit of time, mostly just setting up and plugging in hardware! All the connectivity is done through your smart phone with easy as pie step by step Detailed instructions! If you are considering buying one of the new MESH networks, this should be at the top of your list!!!

Just built our house, roughly 2200 sq ft. Open floor plan. Router is super quick and reaches every point in the new home. Even reaches mid driveway. It is located smack dab in the middle of the house. We have a 686 mb/s modem hooked up and plan is at 150. Used the linksys app and we are actually getting about 340! What!! Probably issue w provider but I'm not complaining! Anyways absolutely awesome router. Super slick and modern design. Breathes really well and doesn't over heat. Cons: honestly it's too early to see. But every router has its own issues. I'm sure one minor hair will show but for now I am a very happy consumer

I bought the Velop with hopes of it eliminating the dead spots in my home. The product looks great and is built well. However, I have yet to get it working in my home. The app is great and helps anyone setup their new router with ease. My Velop system is having trouble connecting to my modem. It sits on the screen with the wheel going for 10 minutes then tells me to unplug my modem and try again. After I follow the steps exactly as I read them. It then tells me it is an issue with my internet provider and to contact them for further assistance. I called my provider and they said everything looks great on my end and there are no issues with my modem. I replaced my modem(CM500-100NA) in September, per request of my internet provider. The next step was to call Linksys customer support for help. The representative was very friendly, but she informed me she did not have training on the Velop system. She has to set up for a senior technician to contact me within 2-3 hours. I received no call. I have a $500 wireless system just sitting on my shelf collecting dust. My old router is standing in until I get this issue fixed. I will call back again and hopefully they will be able to help me this time. I cannot really rate this item since I have yet to use it. I hope everything works out! I am looking forward to seeing how great my signal in my home will be!

Overall, I think this is a great system for those that just need wifi and don't have a lot of need or desire to tweak and customize their networks. If you require more in the way of features and customization options, you may want to go another route. Setup process is as advertised and very easy to manage when it works right. The only issue with setup is when something goes wrong. I found that the setup process has a hard time recovering and picking up where you left off so it requires you to reset everything to stage one and try again. I actually set these up in my rather small apartment and had an issue during setup where the internet couldn't be found (this was a modem without a router setup). After waiting a while, I decided to relaunch the app and see if it could figure things out. It did not and I needed to completely reset the routers to start again. It wasn't a huge deal as the setup process isn't super long so I'd call it a minor setback. Wireless range was very nice with only 2 set up (again, I don't live in a large place so this was to be expected. I probably could have gotten away with a single access point). Speed tests of my internet were as they should have been (around 110mbps). The only problem I, personally, had with this system is the lack of options when it comes to customizing your network. It's very basic stuff, which is probably all most of you need. I was able to connect another switch to the extra ethernet port on the Velop to give the rest of my wired devices their access again, which was nice. After testing in my home for the day, I disconnected everything, packaged it all up exactly how I had found it and handed the system to my father who has a much larger area where he needs wifi. He isn't technically illiterate but he's also not super advanced with networking or anything. I'm usually the one that sets up his networks for him. I told him to set up the whole system without me and let me know how it goes. His report was as similar to mine when it comes to setup. He said that the setup process was easy but when there was an issue, the process had a hard time recovering and required a restart. In his case, it was a range issue where the Velop lost the connection to his phone so the purple light on top stopped being purple and he couldn't reconnect. He told me that he restarted the whole process and things worked fine the second time. I was hoping this system would allow him to get wifi into his garage (which is probably 100 feet from the front of the house) but the signal had trouble locating the extra Velop when he tried to place it in the garage. He currently has 2 on the main floor of his home and 1 upstairs and says the signal seems to be good and speed tests appear to be what he would expect from his internet. Next time I go to visit, I'll have to see if there is some location he can place them to get the signal to hit his garage. He might just have insulation in his walls that wifi has a hard time penetrating because he's never had a lot of luck getting wifi outside. Bottom line, if you aren't super into customizing every aspect of your network and you have a large area to blanket with wifi, this is probably going to be a good device for you. The app makes setup a relative breeze (even if you have to restart it once) and it also makes the few settings that you DO have pretty easy to tweak and view. If you require a lot of extra settings or even a web interface, you should look at something else. Mostly, I just wish this had a "advanced" toggle somewhere that would open up most of the options you'd find on even other more basic routers. The "would I recommend this to a friend" question really just has to do with how technical I feel my "friend" is. This isn't a technically centered device and that's fine as long as you aren't expecting one. For the price, it's probably a little much for what you get, though.

We have a 2900sf house with the router upstairs out in the open. We consistently had issues with the main TV connecting to the WIFI as well as our computers and phones dropping and having to reconnect. Working from home and streaming was a nightmare. The internet provider- COMCAST- would not help us and stated they could not guarantee the service in our home, just the service getting to the home, which there was no issue with, yet our EXPERIENCE with the internet was horrible. The COMCAST rep actually recommended a mesh system. I reviewed the available options and Linksys Velop rated the highest. It's an investment, but WELL WORTH IT! No more interrupted streaming or business transaction interference. GREAT PRODUCT!!

The unboxing of the Velop is highly satisfying. The magnetically sealed box opens to reveal three shiny, new nodes just aching to expand your wifi coverage beyond your wildest dreams. That's where the excitement stopped for me. Although touted for ease of setup, my experience was far more complex. After downloading the iOS app (required for setup and what limited network management you can accomplish), I set out to get my mesh network up and running. The first node was a little finicky, but after 20 minutes it was finally done and connected to the internet. For the next 3 hours, I tried in vain to install the other two nodes. Error codes abounded and hard resets were common. There are zero instructions included and the app is essentially worthless if you run into an issue. After several lengthy phone calls with tech support, it was determined the units were faulty in some way. (Each of the three nodes could be set up as the parent, but none could be added as children.) A replacement set arrived very quickly. The second set had none of the issues of the first. Perhaps because these are so new, there are some initial quality control issues? Either way, the replacement units were up and running in 15 minutes or less. I placed the nodes where desired and set about to do some testing. (NOTE: Before attempting to set up a node, plug it in and wait for the status light to turn solid purple/pink. Not doing so will cause you some serious frustration. Trust me. Red is bad. Trust me. Blue at the end of setup means you're good to go. Anything else means start over.) As for actual speed, I cannot tell you what I'm getting as the app continually tells me an error has occurred and to try again later when attempting to use the built-in speed test. From a real-world standpoint, I get no buffering or lag issues even when multiple devices are streaming content simultaneously. I also consistently get error messages when attempting to activate the device prioritization feature (which for some strange reason only permits you to select 3 devices). Basically, the "advanced" features of the app are relatively worthless. There is no access (from what I can ascertain) to network settings other than through the app, although CS indicated this may be forthcoming. On the units themselves, you can connect 2 LAN devices to each child node, and 1 to the parent (the other ethernet port connects to your modem). USB ports are noticeably absent. This is a pretty major fail. No ability to add a NAS or non-wireless printer is a bummer for me. Still researching possible solutions for this. There is an integrated cable routing outlet which is a nice touch. Aesthetically, the nodes are attractive and blend in with their surroundings fairly well. The power adapters are huge and will not play well with others if using a surge protector. Coverage is better than my prior router and range extender setup (Linksys EA9500 Max-Stream AC5400 Tri-band router coupled with a Max-stream AC1900 Wireless dual-band repeater that was less than a year old). All of the dead spots I used to have were gone, plus coverage extended away from the house far enough to reach the pool deck with enough signal and speed to stream Pandora, Spotify, etc. without buffering. Speeds and connectivity appear to remain consistent to near the edge of coverage. Thus, the magic of the mesh. While I'm pleased with the end results of the network coverage, the major issues in setup, the lack of USB connectivity and the fact that the only administration for the system must be done via the app lead me to the 3 star rating. I really wanted to love this system and rate it higher, but in good conscience, I couldn't. I would tentatively recommend this to a friend, but only after a fairly lengthy conversation about its pros and cons.

OK When Wired Backhaul is your Setup

Average at best for anybody who considers themselves a pro-sumer or networking Kit. I have run these in bridge mode to act as the mesh/WAP throughout the house. They are all running a wired, CAT6 backhaul and deadhead into a 10GB SFP+ port and I do get really good, consistent wireless speeds. The reason for the average rating is two-fold 1) they consistently drop my 2.4ghz only IOT devices. 2) the settings available within the GUI or within the Linksys App while they are running in Bridge Mode is almost nothing.

After receiving my product and reading many reviews I was hesitant because of all the set up troubles. I had no trouble setting up my three nodes, all done in under 40 minutes and that included moving them around for optimal coverage. My connectivity strength and speed have increased from my previous router. Although negligible to most the VELOP system is faster and definitely better signal coverage. While you can't readily customize settings as you would a router with a web interface I have read reviews where Linksys will discuss what is needed to see if their engineers can assist which is encouraging. The only flaw I can find at the moment is the size of the plug. if you are using a power strip it is large enough that it will take up two spots. If you are plugging in to a 110 outlet with usb chargers there won't be enough room. If you are looking for a plug and play system with flexibility you have found it.

This is a powerful trio of cooperating units that you establish throughout a large area to prevent wi-fi dead spots - one unit connects directly to your router or modem and the other two units work independently as satellite nodes to provide a large seamless network. The literature with these units suggests that they can cover an area up to 6000 ft.² - my house isn’t anywhere close to that size but they erased all of the problem areas I have had in the past (I imagine they would be a fantastic addition to a multilevel house!). Be aware that you will need to have a smartphone to get the units setup/synchronized - there’s an easy to use Linksys app for that - and the app includes parental controls, a way to establish a guest network, a speed test, and a way to prioritize your devices. The units have a small footprint - each one is about the size of a 16 oz. can (think: energy drink). This is a fantastic system!

Bought this coming from Linksys AC5400 and was very please with the coverage and speed! My entire whole house is covered and I'm a tech head! So many devices and can have ALL of them on and not one sign of lag. From multi leveled houses to ranch style houses, this mesh system is for you! Compared to traditional routers (that can leave dead spots and decrease in speed.) This system will create a blanket of Internet across your home and will keep a consistent internet speed no matter where you are in the house. Not to mention the tri band and mu mimo technology courtesy of Linksys!

I was really hoping to write a short positive review, but there were some issues which I had to share. I love that this has taken my 3 separate router/access-points each of which had two network names, and managed to put it all on one network name. Unfortunately, for example, my android-based tablet always seems to connect on the (slower) 2.4GHz network and there is no obvious way to fix this (without perhaps forcing the whole network to use 5GHz, which is not an option). The signal seemed excellent in some areas that had weak signals before. A few times while using it, it seemed to disconnect wifi, but after 5-10 seconds it would reconnect. This was in a location with 95-100% wifi signal. Also, Transfering files on my DELL laptop from network drive -- On Velop i was maxing out around 7MB/sec. Compare that to my previous Linksys Router (wired wireless-access-point) which was getting 27MB/sec peak. I slightly dislike that i needed to buy network switches because the Velop system only has 2 ethernet ports. On the other hand, now that is done and i don't have to think about the number of available ethernet ports on future devices. My old access points were "wired" to ethernet, and the secondary nodes here don't seem to work that way (other than as bridges maybe?). This has potential performance implications. The nodes not being wired i perhaps have more freedom to more optimally place them, so there are potential advantages in using this in areas a wired access point cannot be placed.. As per setup, it was "easy" but twice i had to restart setup on a node after it seemed to hang for more than 5 minutes, and one of those times i needed to factory reset a node..

You have to use the smartphone app (some would rather use a computer, but you can't), and once you create an account, it's pretty simple to setup the router and nodes (they all look the same; the first one you connect to the modem will be called the router), and maintain your network. I've set up another mesh system, and it was much quicker, but at least it's straightforward, and the system has kept a good, strong connection.
