Best Whole Home Wifi System
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has to be the best whole home wifi system out there. Not only was it easy to setup, it's easy to use and it looks great too. I have a teenager and this made it easy to restrict access to the internet after a set time and day. I'm also getting the speeds that I'm paying my cable company for. I've recommended this to my family and friends to improve there internet experience.

Best follow up
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My Linksys system had difficulty finding the internet from my provider so I called 800 number for support. The support worked with me but I was interrupted and could not finish the task. They called the next day to help. I had to schedule for another day. The help staff were on the line and constantly giving feedback on the process. The router has color changes that let the installer know how the process is going. After and update of the software everything worked great. The staff were patient and understanding. I have been error free for weeks. Love Support.

Great product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great product that provided strong signal thru the entire house. Was easy to setup but there are no details about it creating a separate subnet that affected my wired machines. Linksys support was useless but i was able to resolve the issue by connecting a gigabyte switch to the Velop and plugging all the hardwired machines to that. Now all devices, wireless and wired can comminucate.

Could be MUCH better...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to say I was rather excited to get the Linksys Velop whole home WiFi system as I have a house that is very difficult to cover effectively. Unfortunately, the devices did not live up to my expectations. Initial Impression: The packaging was good, it definitely gave the feel of a premium device. The lid was closed with a magnet and each device was nessled in its own spot in the box, even the power bricks were behind a padded piece. Setup...... Awful. The first warning note was that it basically requires the Linksys Smart WiFi app, and more than that, the app requires you to have an account with Linksys. I'm not a very big fan of the whole 'big brother' watching my home network. In other linksys devices I've had in the past I've simply gone about the setup by bypassing the linksys account and linksys apps. That is not an option here. I thought at first things were going well, it found the first node and acted like it was setting up great... Unfortunately I was connected to a different known wifi on my phone at the time and none of the settings saved on the Velop, so when I went to reconnect to it through the App (more on that in a minute) it had all of the default settings in my Linksys account and I had to re-update them. Now, why did I have to reconnect? As I mentioned, I thought the initial setup went well, then I went to set up the additional nodes and the process hung on attempting to connect to the new node, backing out of that portion did not work and neither did restarting the app, so I had to reboot my phone for it to even find the new node. More than that, when attempting to go through the process of adding a node when you're no longer in the initial setup, it's in the most obscure place possible. You'd think it might be in the dashboard of the Velop, or even in the 'Velop Administration' section since having nodes is purely a Velop function. But instead of either of those places, you have to select 'setup a new device' where it will finally give you the option to add to your Velop network. Next, when it finally was able to connect to the node, it repeatedly told me I was out of range, even when in the same room, and what's worse about this is that it has to wait until the entire boot process of the node is complete, you'd think it could have some sort of WiFi meter in the app to tell you if you're getting too close or too far from the original node before bothering with plugging it in. And if it didn't tell me I was out of range, it got stuck on a screen that said 'checking your node's location' until I restarted the app (I waited at least 15 minutes on this screen). I have my reservations about using this throughout my house if it believes the nodes are too far apart when they are in the same room. Hopefully some app updates will come down to clean this up as I cannot say enough negative things about the setup process. One final note. I am using Android to set this up, I've heard that the iPhone experience is much better, and I can only hope it is because the Android experience is terrible. Also, I did try this on more than one android device to ensure it was not just an issue with my phone. In all cases the Android experience is horrendous. Usage: The usage is not bad, although with the pains of the initial setup I'm unsure what sort of range I can expect out of these devices if going 1 room away is too far. I guess it will take some massaging to determine this. Bottom Line: Great 'premium' feel to the devices and packaging. Horrible setup process and questionable range. Unfortunately in its current iteration, I cannot recommend these devices. I'm extremely disappointed.

Good but needs refinement
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hardware looks very clean. Setup is buggy though this was the first formal day of release. Performance is quite good for 1, 2 and 3 node setups. I used cable run back to main units but seems to also work with wireless back hall. Price is higher than it should be given they are still working the bugs out but it would be difficult to also raise prices later.

Read on for a different perspective
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you would of asked me last night I would of given the Velop one star. Most reviews and even the four part instructions make this appear to be the easiest install ever. After 20 minutes of not connecting I decided to call customer service. She spent almost 90 minutes with me on the phone. Apparently you need to go into Velop in your WiFi settings. The app was not telling me this. But to make a long story short their customer service-at least for me- was stellar. I upgraded to this router for one reason- Sonos. I have 13 Sonos speakers and subs around my house that my airport router was no longer able to handle. First off let me say I blame Sonos for going to Airplay vs the music on this iPad. I never had problems with the latter. And if anyone at Sonos reads this please make your products backwards compatible. The Velop Tri-band made my speakers sound as clear as the day I bought them. Perfect 3 band signal everywhere in my house of about 2300 ft. I have about 35 devices connected to my router with zero problems. If things change I will update this review, but Linksys your customer service won four extra stars.

Possibly the best ROUTER on store!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Its really great perfect for two story houses, and large families!. Also it reaches all the way to my patio, usually outdoors the wifi signal vanished. But now with the velop i installed the second Pod close to entrance to my patio and i have the same strengh signal as inside my house!! Awsome product, something i was looking foward to get, and now i have it.

Great! but ...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really want to love this Wifi system and rate it 5 stars but there two issues for me. I will discuss the good before the negatives. Wifi coverage in my 3000 sq ft home is great and fast. All my devices work great about 24. That's it. The issues. First, it disconnects for about 2-3 mins every four hours or more. At $500, I expect a lot more. I turned it off, reconnected, tried connecting ethernet cables same result. Second, the App is completely useless. It shows devices connected through wifi as being connected through ethernet. It shows weak or no signal for some devices placed within a few meters from the node. The wifi speed test has never worked. It always gives an error message. I have uninstalled and updated the app twice but same results. I am sure firmware updates and app updates may eventually fix these issues. I am just prepared to be pay $500 and wait but I will still recommend it. In view of these, I will return the Velop and try out the Netgear Orbi.

Superior Technology over WIFI extenders
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Wire Mesh network is vastly superior to wifi extenders. It is expensive but it works very well. We have eliminated speed issues throughout a 6K square foot home. It nicely provides adequate speed outside the house in near proximity. The downside is the app is limited and there needs to be better tutorials for average person to set up. For instance, save yourself a troubleshooting call with support by using a new unique name and password for your system. This was not clear in any instructions. Also, there was little to no information on whether to leverage bridge mode. I'm not high tech and needed to do some research to understand it would benefit me. There should be tutorial videos on You Tube to address these kinds of issues. Also, not clear whether Channel Finder is automatic or whether it must be triggered by user in the app. We get quirky speeds sometimes and I have to invoke channel finder to optimize the speed. This should be automatic for this price tag. Lastly, competitors seem to have a sleeker, nicer design. I believe that Linksys solution is slightly superior in technology but less than competition in design of the box. Still all in all, it solves the access and speed problems.

WOW
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Read other reviews on how good it was but was still skeptical of spending that much on home WiFi. I'm glad I did. The signal strength is excellent. Setup was simple, other than I'm using a special setup and had to call Velop support. Support was extremely helpful and it has been a smooth transition since. Don't hesitate and spend the money and get something that is excellent!

Great system but.....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The mesh system is great and it's been four years since I've had this model. But lately it's been acting like it's not put out a good speed reading for mbps download speed. Technical support say they are working on it but it's been over a week and I've got no relief from this issue.

easy go
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product has a very easy setup, using a smart phone app. No technical information to ponder over. It just works. I dont have to mess with it at all. Saw immediate performance increase over my verizon issued fios gateway. A little more expensive then similar products, but nothing can compare when you have several streaming devices all being used at once around your home.

Perfect Solutions To Our Wifi Problems
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This solved all of our WIFI dead spots and was easy to setup. It also offers Ethernet backhaul, meaning you have the option of plugging in each device to Ethernet so the Velop devices can communicate with each other over a wired connection. This is particularly helpful if you need to space each device further away from the others. The Orbi does not have this feature.

Really fast system
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was a bit of a bear to set up, requiring repeated attempts, but once it was programmed, it is amazingly fast. I've used commercial grade WiFi Access Points in the last few years, but having a difficulty with a large named vendor blocking normal websites without a reason (sites were white listed too...hmmm) caused me to find another solution. I've been keeping up with the latest in Home mesh trends from the various vendors, and heard that this system would be amazing. I should say I have 33 nearby neighbors in my condo complex that I'm competing for spectrum with...so a mesh was a requirement. I was VERY satisfied, once the initial programming was completed, and the whole system created a mesh. I was able to toss out several PowerLine AC adapters that I was using to link several rooms together due to the extra ethernet ports on the Velop devices! Less complexity and now I went from 40-80 Mbps from each room in the house via PowerLine (even though it is a 1 Gbps set of devices) to now 800+ Mbps via wireless! My internet is only 200+ Mbps, but man, what a speed improvement! I'm very happy.....I would have been happier if the system was $100 cheaper, but hey...it's fast!

Great Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this item to replace my apple time capsule and apple airport expresses which simply wasn't cutting it. My wifi was horrible and poor at best. Now I'm getting max speeds in many places throughout my house (3000 square feet) including my basement. I set a node up in my home office on the main floor, kitchen on the main floor and my basement. I pay for 150 mbp through comcast get at least half that in my "dead spots" around my house. Excellent product and customer service is easy to work with if you're having any problems.

Perfect home solution
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Completely overhauled my internet experience. I had the apple AirPort Extreme with 2 extenders... I was pulling my hair out. I paid for 150Mbs through my internet provider and I was only getting like 10-50 Mbs. Now I get 150 at my back fence and I'm on an acre! Great system!!! Much better than paying to have someone come put in wired WAP throughout my house

Great service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using these For Couple years now to extend the Wi-Fi out to my in-law suite. The customer service is great. I had a hard time getting them to connect after one was accidentally reset. I called customer service and they walked me through within about 30 min.
