The best home wifi I've ever installed

The Velop is the best home wifi I have ever set up. I actually didn't plan to change my home setup, but while visiting my sister and hearing the problems she was having I suggested she let me put in an updated router and perhaps a network extender (she lives in a 4500 sq. ft.home). Once at the store I began looking closely at the Velop and decided to go that direction. Back at my sisters I unpacked and had everything setup and configured within a half hour, and though I have a lot of experience it really doesn't matter. The setup utilized an app that walks you through every step. I'm confident that the most inexperienced user will have no difficulty. I loved it so much that I decided to put it in my own house once home and the difference was even more profound. Though I had a top of the line Netgear router, I had falling signal at various locations in the house. Once installed I measured download and upload speeds from every corner of the house and found to my amazement no matter where I was I pegged the rated cable service speed of 65 mb at every corner and floor of the house. The result is that every device and computer responds instantly, no matter where you are. And the days of a movie buffering to the visual of a spinning ball are over!

The Linksys Velop is a wonderful product. Our house is a ranch style home with the internet setup on the far end of the home. The wifi could not reach the other end of the house. The Velop has fixed the distance range of the wifi. It is extremely easy to set up and works extremely well. I definitely recommend the Velop if you are having similar issues.

I upgraded my system from an Apple Airport extreme and 2 Apple airport express is. After having several crashes I became frustrated with the extended network system. Since upgrading, I have consistent signal throughout the house, and speeds are incredible. In places where there used to be blackouts, there are none. I am very happy with my purchase so far.

This system replaced my Linksys EA8400 AC2400 router with RE6700 AC1200 extender. 2300 sq ft house downstairs and upstairs experience no lag in speed. Bandwidth remains constant throughout with 12 devices connected. Setup was simple and flawless, used my iPhone 7 Plus and had it up and running within 15 minutes. Highly recommend the VELOP system.

After reading the reviews on this and other networking devices I chose the Linksys Velop. The set up took about 15 minutes start to finish and was very simple. The mobile app has been easy to work with since installation one week ago. The two unit bundle covers our whole 2500 sq ft home and the yard as well. Very happy with the unit.

I have a lot of devices In the house, 4K tvs, consoles, phone, etc. & through the entire house I have blazing fast speeds! No more buffering, range drop outs or anything! Definitely worth the investment!

I bought this product after the sales professional did a great presentation and explained how everything worked. I took the product home and set up was so easy. My house is 3600 square feet and this is MORE than enough to fill the rooms with Wi-Fi. We love it. No more dropped service, no more buffering. Everything is online and stays online.

I had a netgear nighthawk before this the coverage was ok in my 2100 sq ft home but on one side of the house I had a weak to no signal and my connection speed varied from room to room with this it's been the best decision I have made super simple setup no dead areas in the house and the same speed no matter where I am in the house I love it

This will not be a full-fledged, comprehensive and detailed review, but rather some general comments about this product (along with some specific observations). First let me say that this is replacing a Netgear Orbi, with which I was having some odd speed problems when connected through the satellite. I won't go into all the details here, but after returning the Orbi I subsequently determined that the problem was not with the Orbi itself, nor with the placement of the satellite (which I had varied during testing), but rather with interference from a Vizio soundbar that transmits on the 5ghz band to its subwoofer and rear surround speakers. Had I discovered this before buying the Velop, I would have stuck with the Orbi, as it met my needs just fine. However, I'm pleased with the Velop so far, and although my particular home (2-story, about 4000 sq. ft., but fairly "squat" rather than spread out wide) could have sufficed with just two units, having three is turning out to be a nice plus. The packaging and physical appearance of the Velop units is pleasing. The app is fantastic, especially compared to Netgear's antiquated looking Genie app, as well as the pretty much completely useless (but nicer looking) Orbi app. One show-stopping issue that occurred right out of the gate was the inability to open the app (which is required to set up the system)... it would crash and quit immediately on both my iPhone and iPad. Some trial and error revealed that this occurred because I was still connected to my existing Netgear R7800. My assumption is that the app is missing a routine to gracefully handle a situation where the connected network is a non-Linksys router. This is probably not an issue in most cases, and presumably people will have already shut down their existing router by then (I had not done this yet, as I was hoping to possibly retain this router and just use the Velop as a system of access points in AP mode, which I later determined was not possible). Another minor issue is that some client devices (which are definitely NOT hardwired) incorrectly show up in the Linksys app as being "ethernet" instead of wireless. Setup of the main unit and the nodes went fine, with the app guiding through each step, though some of the phases were a bit slow. One feature that is not heavily advertised (as it doesn't necessarily appeal to the average consumer) is the ability to have an ethernet backhaul (the "backhaul" is the connection between nodes). While the Velop system does have a separate 5ghz radio that it can use for backhaul (like the Orbi, though the Orbi's backhaul radio is capable of faster speed), it can be beneficial to hardwire the nodes if possible, especially if the node needs to be placed further away than is ideal. In the case of the Velop, ethernet backhaul is accomplished by setting up the node as usual (wirelessly), and then simply plugging it in to your network. One question I had was whether the backhaul could be connected to the network through an ethernet switch, or if it had to be a direct connection between Velop nodes as the Linksys web page on this topic indicated (which would be a problem with the main node, since it only has 2 ports, one of which needs to go to the cable modem, and the other to the ethernet switch, leaving no open port for a direct connection to another node). I was pleased to find that the backhaul worked just fine connected through a switch. Another nice discovery regarding this hardwired node is that my third node, which was wireless, determined that its connection to the hardwired child node was better than its connection to the parent node. In other words, if the main unit is A, the hardwired child node is B, and the wireless child node is C, the position of node C was such that its link to node B was stronger than the main unit A, so node B shifted its communication away from node A in favor of node B, and got better speed as a result. This is not necessarily surprising, as Linksys heavily promotes the fact that these units will find the best wireless communication path. On the downside, there's a significant lack of advanced router configuration options, options that are pretty standard and expected. For instance, the ability to set a range of addresses for DHCP, as some people might not want 192.168.1.x, and as in my case, I wanted to have DHCP stop assigning addresses past 192.168.1.98 due to some static IP devices on my network. DHCP address reservations would have been an acceptable workaround, but other reviews stated that this feature was missing as well, so the absence of these two features pretty much ruled out this product for me. However, doing more research, I stumbled onto the fact that address reservation WAS indeed an included feature, but it's somewhat hidden... you have to go to the list of attached devices, tap on the device you want to reserve and tap on Reserve DHCP (rather than one complete page in the app with all DHCP reservations). Additionally, before I learned that DHCP address reservations were possible, another workaround I considered was to retain my existing router (with its WiFi turned off), but another missing feature of the Velop is the ability to turn off its own routing and operate strictly as a set of access points. I would also like the app to give more information about connected devices... to which node are they connected, and what is the link speed? There are some other advanced features missing as well, and while I can appreciate the goal of making this product simple and non-intimidating, a $500 router system should not be lacking in this kind of configurability. Keep the app clean and simple by hiding this stuff away in an "Advanced" menu, or better yet, enable web access to the router for these options, and you'll keep both the technophobe average consumer and the advanced users happy. With these absent features, I'd rate this 3 stars, but I'm giving a "conditional" 4 stars because I'm hearing murmurs online that Linksys does indeed plan to add some advanced configuration options. Will bump to 5 stars when this happens, or drop down to 3 if it doesn't after a while. That said, the current omission of these features is not causing any significant problems for me, as I was able to adapt my setup. Still, it would be comforting to know that they were there if needed, and I'm sure there are some power users who won't even consider this product because of this. The Velop looks like a promising product, and I hope Linksys takes it to its full potential! As for performance, I'm getting 100-200mbs throughout pretty much the entire house, 200-250mbs when near the wireless node, 450-500mbs near the hardwired nodes, and a comfortable 25-50mbs out in the yard.

This system exceeded expectations. I purchased this for roughly 6500 square foot shop area with many tile walls and obstructions. I can't believe how well it works. Not one bar is lost from corner to corner. I am currently at 17/2 speeds, but that is all that is offered in this area but Speedtest.net shows 17/2 everywhere. Highly recommend.
