Very good for what it is

It's a good solution for what it is. Here are the good parts: 1. Only 1 node needs to be hardwired for all of them to work. However to note, if you want full bandwidth and faster/better handoff when roaming your coverage area you should attempt to have as many wires as possible. That said it works very well as a solution to expand wireless coverage that works much better than wireless extenders. 2. Setup is meant to be dead simple. You use the app on your phone or tablet for initial setup and maintaining the system. You can add this to an existing router, or the first node when being setup can be configured as your router. 3. There are 2 wired ports on each node. If you are hard wiring nodes this will occupy one of the ports, so keep that in mind. However there is nothing stopping you from putting a switch on the other port and wiring several network devices to it. 4. They look good and are not large or intrusive. 5. You are able to add many nodes to the system, just buy more. I however don't know what the limit is, I have 5 and I could add more to my knowledge. Here are the frustrating parts: 1. Setup sometimes is pretty bumpy through the app. Recognizing nodes sometimes takes a few tries, and if you are trying to setup each one in the place you hope to place them, you may have to retry the setup for additional nodes within a couple feet of the first one to get them to detect and speak to each other, then move it to the location you prefer it to be. 2. It is frequently not good at penetrating some walls/areas. I have 2 areas in my house, one is my garage and I have placed a node in there which is 20-25 feet from the primary node and through 1 wall. They cant reach each other even if I move one of the nodes with 10-15 feet of the other through 1 wall. I have another upstairs, directly above the main node in my office, and it cannot be reach either. I placed an additional node in my master bedroom, 25 feet down the hall with no obstructions from doorway to doorway, and the office node placed just inside the doorway but still behind the wall by 2 feet and they cannot connect to each other. 3. The double NAT will not work for many situations. I have a VPN router that I use connected to my cable internet so it functions as my router and DHCP server. Velop then has it's own DHCP for anything connected to it. I have a TiVO box that records shows and used for live TV. I have a TiVO mini which connects wirelessly to my network (now through Velop). The TiVO mini connects to the main TiVO over the network and streams live TV or recorded TV from the main box. However with Velop they cannot see eachother over the network, and since Velop is a "user friendly" solution, you do not have access to any way of manually NATting, port forwarding, etc. which means it breaks my ability to use my TiVO. 3. You cannot tune the configuration through any "supported" method. If you want to make changes, like using your main router as the DHCP server for both networks, bridging both networks (to solve solutions like my TiVO issue), or other configuration, you have to jump through hoops and click a hidden link in the browser redirect for the Velop system to get access to these features. And they don't work well at all. I have configured mine for bridge mode and there is wireless instability even though 3 of the 5 of my nodes have a hard wired connection. The lights are a bright red or are flashing red constantly which light up the room and I have had to put tape over them to not be bright and distracting especially when watching a movie in the dark etc. I feel that the handoff per node in this configuration is clunky and doesn't happen sometimes. I could be right next to the main wired node and have only a couple bars of network because it has not handed off from the node I was at from the other side of the house. Linksys has stated that they are improving the firmware, and could be adding better networking support at some point in the future. Which would be good if they follow through with that. However this is a very good product if you plan it to be your only solution for all your networking needs, and have no need to make any configuration changes now, or in the foreseeable future since they handicap the app by design. If you are looking for a simple wireless solution that expands your network coverage this is the best on the market, and with a few caveats(having all nodes hardwired) you can have a full bandwidth solution in your whole coverage area. As well as something relatively simple to setup then this is a great investment. If you have the need to make any config changes or need to customize your network for different solutions you may need, your mileage may very. Until Linksys removes the handicaps you will have an uphill battle on your hands, and you may have luck or not, inconsistency or not. It's a wait and see for those folks on it being a good tailor-able solution at a larger investment than other means.

Bought this package to replace 2 routers bridged together that gave 4 signals to juggle. I was looking for something that managed all of the technical aspects of networking without having to remember to switch signals depending on where I was in the house and this delivered! Setup was easy, just downloaded the app and walked through the steps. Very easy and all set up within 10 minutes of taking it out of the box. The only hiccup was I had to unplug the modem for 10 seconds to get IPv6 working. Keep in mind, the app is quite barebones regarding the more technical options for the router. I'm not sure if that will change over time but as of writing this, things like port forwarding and confining the DNS server is nonexistent. If you're looking for a powerful mesh setup with few frills (and advanced options) this is the system to get!

I've got this system in my house and it's the easiest router to setup period. You get the app, tell it it's a Velop system and you're pretty much guided step by step how to plug all the cables. I've experienced no wifi drop and it's smart enough to put your devices in the best band (2.4 or 5g). Performance in all areas of my house is great as well. As an example I pay Comcast for 75mbps. Consistently I get 89mbps wirelessly. This may vary for you, but you can expect this mesh router system to allow you to tap into the bandwidth you're paying for, without losing speed for using wifi. I've also noticed that it tries to put as many devices that supports it into the 5ghz band. Keeping the 2.4ghz free for other devices. If you're tired of having poor wifi reception give mesh wifi a try and you won't want to go back.

    INCREDIBLE!!!!!

I have tried other routers and wifi extenders with zero luck. All were a hassle and a complete headache. My yard is over an acre and I have a detached garage that I have always struggled to get wifi to. No matter what I tried they all failed. I inquired about this at the store and received great help. The rep answered all my questions and assured me I could return an open boxed item within 14 days. Reluctantly and skeptically I bought it, because I had NOTHING to lose with Best Buy’s return policy. IT WORKED! Not only did it work, it allowed me to use Sonos in my detached garage. I also have Full wifi signal across my entire acre of yard. Outside of the obvious function it provided, ease of use and control options are amazing. I recommend this to ANYONE who wants premium wifi! It’s a must buy!

Unit received for review was a 3 pack combo. Pleasing to the eye and the color almost looks like it is made by Apple. Took about 5 minutes to set up the first node. The secon and third node took a bit longer as you must set it up close to the first node and then move it to its final place. I had a bit of difficulty in setting the second node as this one was being placed in the first floor. Took it to the second floor where my multimedia room is and the set up was less than five minutes. If you loose power, the noded may hang and display a red light. This means you have to unplug and reboot the nodes. Overall, I am pleased with this product and it gets an overall rating of 5 stars. I like that I can control it with my iPhone. If I have guests, I just text them my guess log on and presto! Highly recommended.

I finally have full coverage with a strong signal. The basement, the main floor, and the upstairs each have a node. Easy to install, no tools needed. Download the app and follow the instructions. It's done in about 30 minutes.

Bought this after buying a house. Works great to cover whole house, I got the 3 tower system. Nice thing is you can hardwire 2 devices per tower so you can have the devices you want the most speed on hardwired with dedicated speecs.

Easy setup is where it begins. This wifi system will solve you "dead" areas in your home. We have one on each floor of our house (basement,1st and 2nd floors) and have noticed a huge difference in the range from our wifi connection especially in the basement. No dropped signals and no lagging while watching amazon prime or playing multiplayer games online.

I have Suddenlink cable internet, backed up with T-Mobile at Home wireless internet. The Linksys Velop WiFi 5 system worked right out of the gate with the simple instructions on the enclosed card when i hooked it up to the T-Mobile at Home modem. But after excessive trial and error i was unable to get it to work with Suddenlink's Gigabit modem. And the Suddenlink tech support was unable to connect up the two. But the Linksys support technician identified the conflict and walked me through configuring the two devices in a matter of 45 minutes or so.

Our home was plagued by wireless challenges. Poor reception is some areas, multiple SSIDs to choose between and a challenge when it came to wireless printing. After some research, a mesh network looked like it was the answer and it was. The Velop delivered. Linksys provided a near bullet-proof installation of the product, using their configuration app loaded on a smartphone. Easy-peasy. Wireless connectivity between the nodes was simple easy and provided the access needed. It took under an hour for the three node setup. Later testing some wireless gaming (Xbox) left something to be desired but it was easy to hard wire a node for that purpose. I chose to dedicate some IP addresses to specific devices, and setting up the DHCP reservations was simple.

Linksys-Velop Tri-Band Whole Home Wi-Fi System execeded my expectation. It covers my whole home. I have about 2800 sq I have never had such good coverage. I had mine installed by the Geek Squad. I figured the added expense was minimal compaired to my previous problems. They brought the system out when they came to install. Go first class

1 year after installing & were still very happy with the Lindsey Velop system! It solved all our WiFi problems; a large house, lath & plaster walls that blocked the WiFi signal and a detached studio apartment located about 40’ from the house. We know have a strong WiFi signal no matter where we are on our property. Installation was a little difficult for us. We’re not very tech savvy but Linksy’s excellent customer service walked us through the process and stayed on the phone until we were completely satisfied. Same customer service after a recent power outage required us to re-set the system.
