Easy setup with the phone/iPad app. We have a large two story house with no dead spots. We used 3 Velop units for setup. Minimal wiring was necessary. System is expandable. Couldn't be happier.

I had two nodes of AC2200. Setup was very easy. I was not getting enough bandwidth on my TV with wireless connection so I used ethernet cable connection from one of the nodes and my issue resolved. A little expensive but very flexible solution for the wifi need of the homeowners. Recently I added two more nodes (AC4400). I added AC4400 as extra node to my wifi using phone app in less than ten minutes without any issues. Later I decided to change my primary node to AC4400 from AC2200 to get better bandwidth, I ended up called support tech and they helped me configure it by resetting two nodes.

The router is working well and gets pretty good range. Our old router did not function well and this has been a great improvement because it is so easy to use and works great.

    Linksys Velop Whole-Home Wi-Fi 2-Pack Review

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Upon opening the hefty package, I quickly discovered the instructions inside to the left. The instructions said to download, install and follow the directions on the mobile application. Thus, you MUST have a smart device with the most recent version of either the Andoid or Apple mobile operating system. In addition, the easiest approach to installation requires that your mobile device be Bluetooth enabled. However, having both does not necessarily guarantee that your mobile device will be able to load the application or complete the installation process. My initial attempts to install the first Velop node failed three days in a row because my mobile device was unable to complete the installation process, always failing at the point where the network access is set. It only took me three days because I had to pick small windows of time where my family was not using the network to attempt to install Velop. It requires direct access to the modem for its initial setup, which means disconnecting the router. I ended up borrowing a relative’s mobile device to complete the installation process. Once the first Velop node was ready, I ended up with another problem. The instructions did not mention how my existing network would work with Velop. I tried a number of different variations in connecting the first Velop node with the established network infrastructure, but Velop's connection became unstable, if it was even able to find the Internet in the first place. On the forth day, rather than just taking the network apart and trying again, I contacted Linksys Technical Support and told them about the issues that I was having. The following day the application was updated online and I began to reinstall the first Velop node using my mobile device. It completed installation successfully and a firmware update to the Velop also increased its stability once I moved it to the first port on my existing Linksys router. However, that meant connecting what was originally in the first port of the router to the Velop. Looking at the bottom of the Velop, there are two Ethernet ports. The Ethernet port to the left is for the cord leading from the Internet. The Ethernet port to the right is for the cord leading to another device, such as a second Velop node in a wired network. Once the first Velop node was established in my existing network infrastructure, I installed the second node. It ended up on the exact opposite side of the house on a lower floor. Using my mobile device, the second Velop node was set up in under five minutes. With both nodes installed, my house and surrounding yard had 100% network coverage. The wireless connection speed for both download and upload is almost just as good as the wired connections to the router. As a test, I decided to load a video from YouTube and it streamed beautifully with no buffering and in full high definition quality. With that said, my desktop computer is what used to be directly connected to the first port of the router. It is now connected to the first Velop node. On occasion, the first node will reset while I am using my computer. I can only assume it may be some type of overload as it does not seem to reset itself at any other time. Also, the second Velop node seems to momentarily lose its connection to the first node once in a while. I suspect it may be wireless interference. I can live with these two annoyances as they are rarities. I am hopeful that Linksys will provide firmware updates that will reduce these issues as these devices have only been available for a week as of the writing of this review. After all is said, the option of having a virtually wireless network at 100 percent strength throughout the house is well worth the cost.

Velop Mesh Network saved me $ 60 a month

Before we bought the two Velop nodes we had to have a second drop from our ISP that cost us $60 a month. Our guest house was about 150 feet from the main house and the ISP's modem router wouldn't reach that far. They tried a repeater/booster but no help. So we bought an Arris SBG6580 and two Velops for about $350 total. The Techs from Linksys got on the phone and walked me though the running. We turned off the router function on the Arris Modem and tuned the Velops. We now get 100mbs+ in the main house and 50-60mbs in the guest house. So eight months of savings have paid off the Velops. And we can treat Netflix - no problem.

    Great Home Wifi Mesh

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased the Linksys Velop wifi mesh system after reading a lot of reviews and talking to people familiar with the product. I own a tri-level home and my current router and extender combo was unsatisfactory. I purchased the Velop system and easily installed it in twenty minutes using the Linksys app. The performance is everything I'd hoped for, this system delivers on its promise of a robust wifi mesh over every square inch of my home. The very competent and helpful service tech helped me configure the parental protections that are not yet available through the app, but are executable through a back door router command and works great. I am very satisfied with this product.

Exactly what I wanted, and more

My old home wifi was a high-end consumer wifi router and a range extender, with a second wifi in the basement as a backup. I found myself constantly having to manage which I was connected to, and to go from the front to the back of the house required resetting my wifi choice in 'settings'. I also found myself constantly rebooting the router (or listening to my wife a daughter complain that the wifi isn't working). The VELOP system eliminated all the problems and drudgery, AND IT IS BLAZING FAST! We also have UHD TV and streaming is flawless as well. Page loads are lightening fast, and walking around the house is seem less. This is what wifi should be. My dreams answered!

    Great Wireless Router System!!!

I wanted to wait 3 months after I purchased this item to see what it can do with my daily wireless needs. I have gone through a few wireless routers, but this unit out performs them all. I had dead spots in my house and I added extenders, but never got the results as the Linksys Velop. I currently have 250 Mbps as my plan and roughly 14 devices running at the same time. All my devices downloads at high speed. The unit is a bit pricey, but as the saying goes, "You get what you pay for". This is high quality and it provides what I need. I highly recommend the Linksys Velop especially if you care how fast your wireless is throughout your home.

    Great at Home, finnicky offline

    Posted .

This thing is great. Coverage is consistent and when you drop out of range it picks itself right back up. Internet monitoring is great. I wish you didn't have to sign up for the Linksys Account right off the bat. Also, some sort of offline set-up would be helpful for those offline network applications. Wired setup is easy once you have all the stations working. Word of caution. Set up each individual node as its own network, update, reset. Then create the mesh network. If the firmware versions are different, you're going to have a bad time. A very long, and painful bad time consisting of nodes just not connecting on the very last step.

Very easy to set up and recover after I had an internet outage and power outage too. It works great with no difference apparent in speed between the nodes. Very good strength of signal.

Flawless true mesh with ethernet backhaul

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

As an IT professional with 20+ yrs experience, I can tell you this product is near flawless. I often see it compared to the Orbi but IMO there is really no comparison. The Velop is easy to setup, true mesh, and allows for ethernet backhaul -- something the Orbi simply lacks as of today. Wifi signal is great throughout the house and I have yet to experience a serious hiccup. For any techies out there like me (advanced users) you will also enjoy a great web interface experience which goes well beyond the functionality of the smartphone app. Bottom line -- if you're looking for a solid mesh Wifi solution, look no further. This is it, period.

Linksys Velop - Great Mesh WiFi with Uverse!

Read extensive reviews trying to determine if Velop would work with my Uverse NVG599 Gateway. My house is 2 story about 3300 sq ft with my Uverse gateway upstairs in a bonus room over the garage. I simply turned off the NVG599's two wifi radios, plugged the first Velop node into the a port on the switch attached to the gateway and ran the Velop app on my IPhone. Very simple setup of all 3 nodes and I now have great reception all over the house at the speeds better than I used to have standing next to my gateway!
