This blows away the Netgear Orbi

After some initial setup frustration, I am ecstatic with this purchase. I first tried the netgear orbi system but iOS devices kept having issues maintaining internet connectivity even though showing full wifi strength. After reading of other people having similar issues I returned the orbi and swapped for the Linksys Velop. Velop has been performing flawlessly. To be fair there were some setup issues: the first device went smoothly, but 2nd and third devices kept instructing me to move them closer to the first unit. After finally moving them 5 feet from the first unit. They still would not connect to each other. Finally called customer support after 3 hours with no luck. It took a while to get through, but the tech was quick to Identify that the firmware was not automatically getting the latest update. They walked me through manually updating firmware and everything was perfect afterwards. Moving the devices to their final desired locations - the performance is 10 times better than the orbi. The iOS app used to to setup and configure should be made a little faster. When configuring and communicating with devices, it can be frustratingly slow. In light of my issues I still highly recommend and am telling friends about the wonders of the Velop system.

I have a two-story home with 4000 sq feet and getting consistent internet to the master bedroom, the ring doorbell, or the car in the garage was a nightmare. I initially had an airport time capsule with an airport extremity as an extender. I first tried the Netgear Orbi, and the eero after that, and even though they were both very easy to set up and use, they were not enough for my home size and or distribution. Velop has done the trick, it is easy to set up, use and manage, and I now have reliable internet in every corner of my house.

    Great Mesh System

Linksys nailed it on this wireless mesh node system. It keeps up with our speeds and never needs restarted. Had an issue with the system when we moved and changed ISP providers. Called the 800 number and the customer service was great. The tech walked me through troubleshooting, resetting the system, and ensuring everything was performing optimally. I would strongly recommend the Velop system for anyone that wants to maximize the coverage area or split devices across nodes.

I thought I'd need 3 nodes but it turns out 2 nodes more than covers my 4000 sq ft home with very fast wifi. Not cheap but worth every penny.

Set up was easy, NOTE FOLLOW the directions!!! Works like a charm. The website is a problem, downloading on phone was seamless and worked fine the computer webpage was terrible and required a call to tech support, spoke to ANGEL and she was exactly an ANGEL helped greatly. Little footprint not bad looking don't even know it is there for the most part. The people at Best Buy were fantastic, spent about 30 minutes with me discussing which option was best. IF you live in the RGV the North McAllen Store is GREAT!!

Bought product for my father who was having issues with wifi coverage. He had the linksys ea9500 which worked great for me. Changed it out for the velop and after a 10 min set up coverage was perfect through out the house

Best Router System for Large Home

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

My house is 3000+ sq ft so it was very difficult getting coverage throughout. Setup was a pain. Had to be walked through with customer service but after it was all done the experience is awesome. (Force firmware update on each node was required) I'm getting ~150mbps anywhere in house and back deck. Never could say that with extenders. Love the linksys app over netgears. Only downside I've noticed, which could easily be fixed by a software update, is the inability to choose which signal you prefer to join (2.4 or 5)

    Resolved my wifi issues completely

I needed Wifi coverage for a large two story home and I also wanted coverage to reach an outdoor entertainment area and a outdoor kitchen. I have tired numerous routers and extenders over the years and never was able to obtain satisfactory results. When the new mesh network products came to the market I was hopeful that a solution had arrived. With the first mesh product I tried I had to use 9 units for coverage. The base unit did not recognize the nodes until I individually entered each nodes serial number. This worked and I did have wifi coverage but unfortunately the down load speeds as I moved farther from the master were often less than 1 mbps. I returned this product to BestBuy and exchanged them for 6 Linksys Velop's. This time installation was a breeze. The master unit recognized each node and notified me if it was to close or to far away and needed to be relocated. II now not only have coverage over the entire house (4 VELOP'S) and outdoor areas (2 VELOPS) but have very fast down load speeds at each location. My internet service provides 200 mbps. With the Veolp i can reach 190 mbps plus download speeds near the master unit and at the furtherest indoor point from the master unit (100 plus feet away) I get download speeds of about 50 mbps. Through the exterior brick wall to my outdoor kitchen I get typical download speeds of 25 mps. No problem with Apple TV streaming. For the outdoor living area which is a good 75 feet from the house I fortunately had a cat 6 cable already in place form this area to a room in the house and connected the indoor and outdoor Velop's this way maintaining download speeds of about 50 Mbps. As a note, if you use a Cat5/6 cabler to extend your system be sure to connect the node first via wifi. Once its established you can then connect it to your Cat cable and it will work seamlessly. One more note. If I had not needed the outdoor coverage I could have had coverage of most of my house with 3 units. I believe the Linksys claim of 2000 sq. ft. coverage per Velop unit is a valid claim. This is an excellent product and highly recommended.

    Nice Mesh system

I really like the Linksys Velop Mesh system. It was an expensive investment so I was happy that the setup went well and the results have been favorable. I swapped out a router and a wall-plugged wireless extension with the Velop and noticed immediate improvement in signal strength. At any point I have as many as devices connected with no appreciable change in the signal. One can assign "priority" to selected devices, however I have not explored that option. Overall I am impressed with this system.
