I had to replace an Apple Airport Extreme that had provided excellent service, but which was slowing down. Apple no longer makes wi-fi hardware, but my research indicated Apple recommended the Linksys Velop. Set-up was relatively easy. The app for your iPhone or iPad guides you through installation and was easy to follow. ONE RECOMMENDATION - Do disconnect your old wi-fi router from your modem before installing the new Velop unit.

Great router had some trouble setting it up called linksys support and they said I need a pc to set it up and that I can't do it with my phone so they weren't the most useful

We have such poor connectivity in this house - basically 2 phone bars - that we needed WiFi signal extenders to get a decent WiFi signal & speed. VELOP had great reviews so I added 4 units positioned throughout our home on different floors. System & app were easy to use & install. Recently needed some tech support when we changed our modem & I’d give Linksys 5 Stars for having a LIVE phone rep. Problem fixed quickly - GREAT support!

This mesh wifi system kicks major butt compared to my old router and access point. Covers my 4000 sq ft home with good wireless everywhere. Well worth the money if u nees to cover a large area.

Before purchasing this product, I spent hours researching the possible options for my home. Wifi mesh systems are somewhat of a new breed, so I was hesitant when considering the Velop over the tried and tested router system. As someone who lives in an area much greater than the purported 6,000 square feet, I was worried that both performance and coverage would suffer. With that in mind, I purchased the Velop to test and see if it could handle the entire area, remaining skeptical along the way. Much to my surprise, the Velop was able to handle every inch of the property, including the front and back yard. What was more surprising was that the speed provided by my ISP (70mbps) was maxed out almost everywhere, occasionally dropping slightly as distance increased. Let me tell you, the Velop is expensive, but is the best in its class. Essentially, being a Tri-band system with MIMO capability is rendered future-proof. Administration of the system is done through their app, which makes it easy to change settings. However, it is not exactly refined at the moment, and resulted in being a pain to set up. But apart from that, I see no reasons separating this router other than budget. Yes, Google Wifi and other systems are cheaper, but they do not offer the coverage and the ability to deliver faster speeds at greater distances.

Did a lot of research on upgrading my router and adding a repeater OR getting a wifi system. There was NO reception in the basement. Since I had the best router for less than a year, I went with the VELOP. It had the best reviews in PC magazines. It works perfectly... have a 3 level home and put one on each floor. Had it for over a month and have had no problems. The only time we have no service is when the cable goes out... but that's a different story.

I bought this to replace the WiFi part of my Verizon FIOS router. The coverage in my 1800 sqft 3-story townhome was just OK at best, and totally unreliable at worst. In my office, which is on the ground floor, I tried power-line LAN adaptors and WiFi extenders, but the best download speed I could get was around 55 MBps. With the Linksys Velop installed, I am getting 86 MBps download and around 90 MBps upload speeds. Installation was relatively easy.

This product is fantastic. We had to switch out our modem/router because our WiFi kept dropping out and was super slow. So we added this system and a new modem, now our internet is way faster than it used to be. It was a little on the expensive side but it's totally worth it because now I don't have to hear my family complaining all the time. Also we pay for 300 mbps and our internet speed we get is 350 mbps. It truly is a great product.

100+Mbps with full signal over every inch of the house! We live in a long single story, modem in middle. Steam everything, 3 Xboxes, ps4, Roku, 5 smartphones... You get the idea. Signal normally would drop off up to 75% at the ends. Not any more; this beast handles it all with little effort (may be a lot of effort, just can't tell). Setup easy... Maybe too easy! App is great, also has guest settings. No more wi-fi issues, just fast, strong signal.

This system is by far one of the best that I've had the pleasure of dealing with. The setup is extremely simple and the ability to have an ethernet backhaul on it is great! The newest firmware also adds the ability to do MAC address filtering to avoid having to use a password on your WiFi and prevent people from trying to force into the WiFi. I recommend this to anyone who wants to get signal to all points in and out side of their home.

I received these cool looking units for review and couldn't wait to set them up. The packaging and appearance of these units is great very Apple like. The package I received had 3 nodes, other packaging is avalible with 1 or 2 nodes. The set up is done with an Android or iOS app, there is no web interface. I used the Android app while it worked most of the time it occasionally locked up. I first tried to set it up by plugging it into my router that went very easily or so I thought I was able to add all the nodes and it said everything was ok. Each node can be named and they all showed up in the app. I was able to connect to them with my devices but no internet. Linksys tech support was not able to help me get this working. I gave up for a few days then reset all the devices by holding the little reset button on the bottom. I then tried to set them up as a seperate wireless network downstairs by using a 200 MBS powerline bridge and plugging it into that. I went though connecting the primary and secondary nodes it all looked good and my devices all connected and got internet! The wireless speed was awful 8mb/s. FYI I get up to 90 mb/s with 5ghz wireless AC connection in the same room connecting directly to my router. Maybe I just received a defective unit or my wifi environment is more challenging than I thought maybe a firmware update will fix the problem. I am still waiting for Linksys tier2 support to try to get these working. I will update the review if we succeed, Until then I can not recommend these units

Linksys App walks you through each step to set up first router, then additional nodes. On the 3rd node it needed to be reset, then unplugged, but on the 3rd try it worked! So far am experiencing excellent signal strength in a building with a lot of cinder block wall between rooms and floors. The actual app is very basic for managing the Velop - and it drops out the signal too often. I hope that Linksys will make updates to this app in the future.

Great product that does what it states and the service is great.

This is an excellent Mesh WiFi system. I have tried multiple other systems before this including a Netgear Nighthawk X6, Eero System and the Netgear Orbi system. So far this system is the best blend of quality hardware and software. There is still some software improvements to be made, some bugs to be worked out and the price to come down but overall I believe this is the best offering currently on the market.
