Many also praise the system's range and performance, reporting consistently reliable connectivity. However, some users experienced connection issues and noted the relatively high price. Great Wi-Fi but other controls aren't good

I bought this back in March and was told the parental controls were great. I have a child and this is important. Things got busy at work and I was working longer than normal hours so I didn't have time to set up the controls. When I finally got to it they didn't work, nothing for them worked. I called support and they fixed it, great! In the next day or two it stopped working again, I called again and spent an hour online and they fixed it again, perfect! The next day they stopped working again. I'm past the return point unfortunately and I'm pretty upset about this. I'd like to take these back as the parental controls are something I really need. The wifi itself is excellent, very fast and reliable but if you need any control of the network this product is lacking.

    EXCELLENT

We bought this on the advice of the Best Buy associate. The Velop System was so easy to set up, the coverage is unbelievable. We could not be any more pleased with our purchase. If you have a bigger house and a lot of area to cover, give the Velop a try. If you have kids, the parental control feature is a life saver.

Product Coverage and Tech Support Rocks

Have been very satisfied with the way this product works and provides great coverage. Had an issue setting up originally as I didn't "optimize" both units. Tech support has been outstanding and they helped me navigate a resolution. Very impressed with product and support (no long wait time like most tech companies).

    Mesh is best

After trying to push WiFi around our large property using extenders, I switched to the Velop mesh network. It was expensive but it does a good job. I am able to move around the property and always be connected to WiFi without having to manually switch my smartphone to another SSID and PW.

    Easy Setup - Great Coverage

The Velop was very easy to set up with the iPhone app. I have a free standing workshop in my backyard and was not able to get Wi-Fi in the shop, so I was getting close to my cellular data limits. With the Velop with 3-pack, I now have great Wi-Fi in the shop and, in fact all over my yard, both front and back.

    Worst Product Ever

This product is horrible! I am asking the mfg for a full refund. Linksys updates the product across the web and the product breaks. Entire home network down. All my connected devices off line. Recovery was 1 hour on the support phone call. Issues still happening. My iphone hot spot is more reliable than these POJ's. They worst part is I have fiber to my home and have been fast for years until I purchased these POJ!

    Why bother

Stops working or slow down Frontier 1000gb to less than 100gb. Stopped using it. IMHO is garbage. Same results as 3 WiFi extenders.

      Hi,

It's important that we are fully addressing your issue. We'd like to learn more about your setback so our Escalation Engineers can lend a hand. Just send us an email at LinksysCares@linksys.com with your contact details, the serial number of your Velop nodes, and the link to this review as our reference.
Meanwhile, here are some actions you can take to help resolve the issue:
      1) Make sure that all the nodes are running with their latest firmware and are placed away from physical obstructions such as thick walls, fixtures, furniture, and metal appliances.
      2) Have your network select a channel with the least amount of traffic by running a channel finder. https://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=216447

    Phenomenal WiFi

I have continuously purchased new routers, it seems like annually, thinking that I would improve the strength and distance for my WiFi needs throughout my house. FINALLY!!!!!!!!! The Velop system is the BEST BUY, and provides WiFi connection far superior to any router technology I have ever used before.

I have only had my new router system for a few days, but it sure does a great job covering my entire home with wireless Wi-Fi signal. It seemed to make a lot of sense to have separate satellite routers placed throughout your house! They look great and they work!

    Lack of Parental Control

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have been in search of a mesh network system that has the parental control capability of Linksys Smart Wifi routers. I was extremely excited when Linksys announced Velop. However, I am thoroughly disappointed with the parental control capability (or lack of) since there is only a manual option or an ability to block up to 10 websites. The Velop requires the use of mobile apps, which lacks the ability to set times for devices under parental control. I will try this out for a few days if no update in sight for enhance capability, I will return it an get a Google Wifi, which is cheaper and no noticeable performance difference. I'm willing to pay more for parental control due to having teens in the house. It's just too bad, it would have been a great system.

I had recently upgraded our cable internet to a higher speed. I was experiencing lackluster performance with our Netgear Orbi. So I bought this to test. Set up was quick and easy, and our network performance improved dramatically. I sent the Orbi to a new home, and the Velop is serving us well.

I am limited to what router I could use due to having FiOS. The hardest part about setting it up was getting Fronteer to switch my system over to Ethernet not MoCa. My WiFi coverage at home has never been so AMAZING! I will never not have a mesh network again. I love my Linksys Velope system!!!

    Not a reliable mesh system

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Very unreliable. Nodes disconnect randomly even though they are still showing blue light Need power cycle to reset. My nodes are cat5e interconnected so shouldn’t happen. The way the nodes connect to devices is a mystery. Devices in same room as nodes often connect to remote node. Why? As a mesh solution I’m not impressed On plus side main mode stays internet connected pretty well. And the nodes do have decent aesthetics. App is pretty lame as well.

Worst Router I Have Ever Owned

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased this router in 2018 with high hopes that we could take care of the dead spots in the house. That it did, but at a steep price. It decreased speeds considerably and we ranged between 15 Mbps - 70 Mbps on a network that provides 450 Mbps wired in. I had to constantly reboot or reset the router, sometimes 5 times a day. They have pushed only one firmware update since I purchased and this did not resolve the issue. I did troubleshooting with one of there techs over the phone for three hours last week, and she deemed the problem resolved once we were able to get it to provide 150 Mbps. She said that was considered an excellent speed based on the 450 Mbps we got from a wired connection and that I should contact the internet provider to complain about the modem and slower speeds. Not even 15 minutes after my call ended with the tech, the router reverted back to the same issues. It was incredibly frustrating. I did contact the cable company and a tech came to the house. After troubleshooting for 30 minutes it was proven that the router was the culprit. We tested a new router that the tech brought and it provided consistent speeds nearly matching the wired connection. As much as I hated renting a router for $5 a month, I decided to give it a shot. I have had no problems with speed, drops, or inconsistencies with the rental and it has been a week. I would not recommend the Velop. It is definitely not worth the money. For over $250 (purchased in 2018), I feel like I was ripped off.

      Hi, Adamh,

The Velop system should be able to deliver 867 Mbps (for each 5 GHz radio), 400 Mbps (for 2.4 GHz) speeds but, allow us to investigate what happened to your support experience and, we'd like to have our Escalation Engineers investigate the device further.

    Terrible Mesh System...

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Started out working great however after a few weeks of having this system it slowly began to degrade and drop connection between nodes randomly also causing many issues while gaming. I have had nothing but trouble from this system ever since... I definitely do not recommend this to anyone out there. I would consider trying another type of mesh network on the market because this one is absolute garbage. I expected much better from Linksys. (P.S. I have owned this product for about a year in order to gain accurate information and a legitimate review of it.)

      Hello, Anthony,

We assure you those are not expected behaviors of our Velop System. If the nodes are already running the latest firmware, then please have our Escalation Engineers contact you for further checking. Just email the link to this post and your contact information at [email protected].

We look forward to hearing your response.

Eliminated all my WiFi signal dead-spots in the entire house, basement, garage and backyard with this 3-node system. Linksys Tech Support was very helpful getting me past an install issue. Once we got the MAC Address entered, the remaining install was smooth.

I was a little hesitant at first to spend the money but after many attempts at using range extenders, power line adapters, and upgrading wireless routers I gave in and dropped the money on a 3-pack and I'm pleasantly surprised. My wifi at the furthest point doubled. Highly recommend.
