Frustration, setup issues, poor customer service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the three tower 6600 setup several weeks ago. Setup immediately failed. Spent nearly four hours on the phone with a rep that could barely speak English, updating firmware, resetting, failing, resetting, finally got the nodes to work by hardwiring ethernet cables to each one, re-installing firmware, resetting multiple times. Frustrating experience. Then printers, TV, DVRs had to be programmed to find my wifi signal. Printers, smart DVR & TV would not list my network (although they worked fine with previous rounters). Had to call Syslink again, waited 20 min., left number for call back. Three days later with no call back, called again, waited 45 minutes on hold (all agents busy), rep could not figure out why my two printers, TV and DVR would not list my wifi network (as old router would). Bought new updated Sony smart DVR--no better result, no wifi. Finally I figured out a way to add devices via the online Syslink webpage using the device codes. (No Syslink rep mentioned this!) Spent a total of 6 hours on the phone trying to get devices to access internet via these routers--what a real mess. Got it working--sort of, but still my wifi network is not listed by any of my devices--which are no more than one year old (Epson, Brother wireless printers, Sony DVR)--except for my Macbook and iPhone which were able to list my network. Never again will I buy a Syslink product. What a mistake. What a waste of valuable time. My Apple Airport Extreme and Express were plug and play and were compatible with all my devices in providing access to my wifi network. Not so with Syslink. What a shame the customer service was not able to help.

Not what was promised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to get the linksys velop because the salesman at the store highly recommended it. I was replacing the modem/router combo that my cable company provided for me. Through them I am paying for 100 mbps and that was exactly what i was getting but I wasn't getting the necessary range so I bought the velop expecting it to rectify this. While it did increase my range, it dropped my speeds from 100 mbps to 20mbps. This has been one of the most disappointing purchases I have ever made and an extender for a quarter of the price would have gotten me the same result.

Prioitization fails because speed test fails. Things that are online show offline, including the device I'm using to view app. Took 4 nodes total to cover 2570 square feet.

I live in a split level home, just over 3K sqr foot. We use all the house. Thus why I needed to update my WiFi as the then current system was just not working. ( Old Tech. ) I am a Comcast User and have their "high speed internet", .… I explained this to the B.B. sales rep and what I needed. He convinced me this was the route to go and so "off we went". I was told set up was "easy" about 15 to 30 minutes. I'm now on my 3rd day of HOURS many hours. I even called Linksys and I understand that they need you to repeat all the steps OVER AGAIN. So at one point, I stated, if we do the RESET of my Comcast Modem ... You (Linksys) will need to call me back, as my phone line is connected through Comcast Modem. I even gave them my Cell #, just in case. She stated, it could be up to an hour before she could call me back, which I understood. That was Monday- Sept 4th .. it is Wed. Sept 6 and I'm still waiting a call back. :/ I managed to get 2 of the 3 units to work. :) With no help from Linksys. It took some Google Search - Youtube Videos and such, but I got there. As I read others too also found this Units set up to NOT be all that "user friendly". So, since Monday Night over 4 hours trying to get the third unit to work: OFF MAP ERROR. Which made NO sense, since I put it on the lower floor, right above the one in the upstairs living room. A total of maybe 10 feet differences between the placement downstairs and the one upstairs. Okay, so I put it on hold as I was getting frustrated with the " experience " prompt. :( Then we start to set up tablets and such ... and find out that my wife's Amazon Kindle Fire Tablet apparently is NOT compatible with this WiFi set up. ( NOT HAPPY. ) I read NO WHERE on the box that this was the case. I Found this out, after 40 minutes of google research ... I went to Amazon to see and sure enough ... A LOT of people were taking this unit back because Amazon Tablet does NOT work w/this! I would have thought, Linksys would have at least THOUGHT THIS THROUGH! It's not like Amazon Tablets are "NEW", they are not. I did find if you live in a nice single level house, I guess this would/will work nicely. But if you live in a split level ... be prepared for FRUSTRATION ..... and do NOT count on a lot of help from Linksys. I'm beginning to wonder if they know this product is buggy and are trying to avoid HELPING, because they know this????
