I bought this router (pack of 3) for a 2000! But after the first node installation and walk 10 steps away start having connection issues! So I needed to install 6 nodes to cover 2000 sqf instead of one that the adv say every node cover 2000 each!

      Hi, Kimon,

Ideally, each node should cover 2000 Sq. feet for a perfect network environment. As what you have described, it seems that there's something wrong with the setup. We'd love to have one of our Escalation Engineers look closely into your network setup to ensure your Velop System is working as it should. Please give us a call at 800-986-0518, or email us at [email protected] as soon as possible. We'll take care of this.

1st node set up easy but the next 2 were a pain. After it is all said and done the increase in download speed is not what I was hoping for, not even by half. It's working so I will recommend it, but buyer beware, sift through the hype

      Hi, Spike,

Adding Nodes should be easy if you downloaded the latest Linksys App and your primary Node is working with an internet connection and provisioned with a Linksys cloud account. We already took note of your setup experience and relayed it to our Product Management Team for checking.

If you're having challenges with the speed and the overall performance of your Velop System, feel free to contact us directly at [email protected]. We have our Escalation Engineers always ready to serve you.

    Poor Quality Control

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First, let me say that I have been a loyal Linksys customer for years. It has been my go-to brand. I was so excited about this system. I liked the way it looked. I liked the size of the nodes and I liked the features. The setup took longer than expected because the app kept crashing. I also had difficulty with the nodes and had to reset the system several times. After finally getting the system to work, the system kept crashing. It crashed three times within the first hour. Additionally, my internet speeds weren't as fast as my old Apple Time Capsule. A few hours of repeated crashing, I called Linksys. After a short hold, I received assistance from tech support. The rep seemed knowledgable and I was pleased with the customer service, however it took nearly two hours with customer service to determine that one of the nodes was defective. After removing the defective node, the system seem to work, but the connection was laggy and still slower than normal. The system (without the defective node) would not allow me to fax documents using my computer. I still had to hardwire my computer to have the ability to fax documents. The Velop system would not support the task. I returned the system to Best Buy and a week later, I purchased the Linksys Max-Stream AC 1900. The Max-Stream significantly slowed my internet speed. My wired speed is consistently 115 mbps. With my old router, I experienced speeds of 75-80 mbps throughout my home. With the Max-Stream, sitting next to the modem, the speed was slowed to 32-34 mbps. I tried to troubleshoot the Max-Stream, but could never get higher speeds. I'm disappointed in the Linksys quality control and am now shopping for a different brand. Additionally, after returning the second Linksys to Best Buy, I was issued a warning that I had too many returns within a 30 day period. (The two defective Linksys routers and one defective TV which quit receiving channels on Day 4). Seriously, Best Buy? My intention when purchasing these products was to keep each one of them. Why am I being punished due to poor quality control and defective products?

No way to back this up

Velop routers, do not currently have a way to do backups and restores. This is absolutely critical to any router as they have issues from time to time. Tech support indicated that this is an enhancement that many people have asked for. I am going to have to tell everyone I work with and do any business with, that this router is not good for business. I have home cameras and other devices that require static IP's on my LAN. I have to re-add 30 static IP's and 15 port forward entries any time this router loses its config. Not good for people with advanced setups. Very sad as this seems like a good product from a hardware standpoint.

    Not So Good

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

At it's price point you would hope this was a superior product. I live in a 3800sqft home and have struggled for years with good coverage. Reading the reviews I decided to give Velop a try. I bought the 3-pack but still had spotty coverage on the second floor so I bought an additional 2-pack. That seemed to make the system even worse and more unstable than before. I have 100/100 service through Verizon and the best wireless speeds obtained with the parent Velop node is 60% of max download speed with 95-98% upload speed. Going beyond to child nodes and I'm getting 30-50% download speed and 91-98% upload speed. Wired connections on the same network are 95+% download and upload speeds consistently. I spent no less than 7 hours working with first line technicians on trouble shooting techniques and eventually taking down and reinstalling all 5 nodes which with their boot up and reset time is around 10-12 minutes until functional on the network was a additional wasted hour plus. No improvement in speed and continued issues with nodes dropping off-line intermittently. My case was pushed to an Engineer. That was over a week ago and despite spending hours on hold waiting for this one engineer assigned to my case I still have yet to talk to him. I left detailed messages not only on voicemails but also via email as to when to best contact me and it seems just despite the times I reported being available he seemed to always call back when I'm at work. I called tonight once I got home from work and the representative who finally answered the phone told me the engineer had signed off for the day. I requested a call from any engineer available and she said she would tag my case as a priority and have someone call me back tonight. I won't hold my breath. Be wary if you buy this product of device performance and reliability. As a long standing Linksys customer and someone who just dropped $800 on their latest equipment to receive such sub-par (that term is actually nicer than I should use) customer service and technical support I will certainly think again before making another LInksys purchase.

      Hi, ThinkAgain,

The 3-pack Velop System should be more than enough for your home Wi-Fi as each node is a powerful Tri-Band connection point offering up to 2,000 square feet of coverage. Allow us to make things right. Please email us your phone number at [email protected] so we can retrieve your case and have it prioritized by one of our Escalation Engineers. After 5 1/2 hours on the phone with LinkSys, we were never able to get three routers linked and on the internet at the same time. Finally gave up in frustration and will return this. There was also an hour with my internet provider in addition to guarantee this was not their problem. Got a different router and was up and functioning in 10 minutes! Forgo this piece of junk!

I have 5 of these. Three of them are within 15’ of one another on my upstairs level, and two downstairs. Nothing in the way to cause interference. Get them all hooked up and working on day one. Had this product for a few years since they debuted the black nodes. Since then, I have had one of the nodes replaced through Linysys only to continue having constant connection issues. The child nod CONSISTENTLY disconnects from the network. Linksys' only recommendation after over a year of having the same issue is to buy a newer one. Pass.

Thought these would be great to extent and expand my WiFi signal but they are so much trouble. I have had them setup for about 3 months and they have dropped of the network, disconnected devices and 1 now has no power. If you dont know much, dont have a wired network and or dont have a lot of devices these may work for you. The biggest issue is stability. All of the problems started 45 days in so be careful!

    Unbelievably bad network equipment

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Utter garbage. Do you like your WiFi to drop multiple times, every day, often in the middle of a call with your boss, with no actual usable troubleshooting info or logging, everything dumbed down and stuck into a useless, pointless, laggy phone application? Do you like dealing with the barest minimum of usable admin features or configurability? Do you like the idea of a mesh network from a company that thinks you are too dumb to set up the mesh, and doesn't allow you any control over which nodes attach to which, in what order? If so, then this unremitting garbage from Linksys is exactly what you're looking for. Set it up, connect to it, and get ready to tear all your hair out!

    Node Wouldn't Connect

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Purchased the Linksys Velop (3 Pack) today and tried to install the 3 nodes. The first two nodes installed properly; however, I was never able to get the third node installed. I kept following the directions on the app and the install would fail. After more than an hour of moving the node close to another node and then back to a selected location, it failed regardless where I placed it in the house. Finally, I called the Linksys support number listed on their site. After waiting for ~15 minutes to speak with a rep, the rep answered and informed me they couldn't help with the Velop. I had to call another support number. The agent placed me on hold for 5 minutes while he tracked down the number. After getting the number, I called and was in the queue for 10 -15 minutes. I gave up, hung up and returned the product to Best Buy. I purchased the Netgear Orbi and I was up an running throughout the house in less than 30 minutes. If you are considering a whole home wi-fi system, I'd steer clear of Velop.
