    Overpriced

Got this grossly overpriced wifi system as a gift from a frequent house guest who thought it would improve the wifi connection in the guest room (I had a 5 year old Netgear 5G that worked just fine for me, but apparently the connection was spotty in the guest room about 80 feet away). He seemed think the signal was slightly stronger. The only difference I noticed was the system would intermittently disconnect itself for no apparent reason. Fast forward about 6 weeks.... Power went out for a few minutes today. Now it simply WILL NOT work. The blue light stays on for about a minute before it starts blinking, then turns red. I wasted the better part of 2 hours trying to get this thing to connect. I finally plugged in my old Netgear router and I'm happily back online. Maybe my nerdy guest can next time he's here I'm not wasting any more time on it. I just feel bad that he spent so much money on something that doesn't even work. Unfortunately, it's probably too late to return for refund.

I recently purchased this product and posted a review about it being the best of the best however after 4 days of using it,i dont even know what is what. The towers stop talking to each other to the point of everything connecting to just the main one and dragging my speeds down by half. I call customer service which all they advise was to re install everything which is not easy nor time friendly and it resulted in the same problem. I can be standing next to one of the towers and it will still have my device connected to another tower and just giving me awful speeds. i search the app for a while trying to find a reboot option but there isnt one. you have to manually reboot each one. After rebooting each one then anything could happen some towers connect back some dont. It turned my home wifi into a nightmare without having control.I will be trying Netgear next.

I rated this two star because in my home I went from 1 bar to 2 bar I was told this would make a big difference and it did not. Just note I have a lot of trees in Auburn where I live and my cable service is bad also. Maybe somewhere else it work better, just not where I live

      Hi,

Updating the firmware might help improve the performance of the Velop system. You can also try to use the channel finder in the Linksys app to optimize the nodes and evade wireless interferences. Velop app and hardware has many bugs and way too expensive compared to google wifi. I have tried out all mesh system (eero, luma, orbi, google, and velop). Google wifi is best mesh system for the dollar and coverage/speed. Velop and Eero are way over priced for feature plus all the Velop app and hardware bugs. Velop had a nod failure and many app bugs. Velop setup was a nightmare compared to other mesh systems. Stay with google wifi or netgear orbi. better mesh systems and software.

I bought this crap last week and spent 3 hours on phone with the tech. support for firmware update, but ended up returned to the store . My internet service provides 480 mbps (MAX), and this system did not work well as advertise. At first, I did the wireless speed test and it was pretty good : 420 mbps, then the wire connection download speed was only 3 mbps !!!! terrible, I could hardly believe my eyes !!! I did the test 4 more times, and the result were still the same. What the ...? 3 mbps vs 480mbps ?? I called tech support and wasted my 3 hours for frustration. The speed ended up 100 mbps only. Download speed is 100 mbps or less for wire connection (I connected the ethernet cable directly from my modem to this router and took the test) Wire connection is supposed to be faster then wireless, but this awkward. if you decide to use wireless only, it is ok, but with wire , you will cry.

I REALLY wanted to like this product, but I can't. Ive never left a review on a product before, but I cant believe that for $300.00 I cant even keep a laptop or cell phone from constantly disconnecting every day. When I say constant, I mean like 20 times a day. I have a 1600 sq foot house, so that shouldn't be an issue. Yes I have called customer service, yes I have emailed customer service, yes I changed the channels as instructed, and yes firmware is updated. I understand that issues arise, but as the sole provider for my family of 5 and a job that was transferred to working from home, I mist say, this is very discouraging and this was A LOT of money to spend and not be able to even keep a tablet or roku device online.

We're in the day an age where thing are simplified and set up should go soomthly. I shouldn't have to spend almost 6 hours trying to get this thing up and running! All I was trying to do was wire all nodes together and that failed miserably. Tried everything and last resort was contacting the outsourced technical support who tend to read off a script!! Make a long story short, after spending HOURS trying to set up a straightforward simple device, it turns out it was extremely frustrating. I made a simple choice of returning the device and calming my frustration. I'll stick with the pioneer of mesh networking which I already had. Like the saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!!!!!! Linksys definitely left a sour taste in my mouth.

If I could give this a zero I would. I paid a high price for what I thought was a premium product. It turns out this is the worst home wifi system I have EVER owned. Every couple of days I get notifications on my phone that one or more nodes are not connected. I go to the nodes, follow the instructions to get them back up, and the app tells me "that didn't work." Two weeks ago I spent two and a half hours on the phone with customer service trying to resolve the problems. The answer is always bring all the nodes into the same room and let them reconnect. Then I get to run all over the house putting them back in place, only to do this nonsense again in a couple of days. I purchased this on 11/17/19. On 12/27/19 this expensive experiment is going in the trash can and I'll buy a different brand.

    Unbelievable bad experience

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I had high hopes...First off the things are so slow to link to each other. Second not very quick my TP Link was more nimble in its performance. Third my Phones Bluetooth kept turning on and off, so I uninstalled the software on the phone and it STILL was acting up, so I reinstalled the Linksys app and uninstalled it and that time seemed to work better. I don't think there could be any worse of a experience. If you need a mesh network the Google routers do work a whole lot better (even though they are not rated as high in speed) What a let-down. I won't take another chance with linksys again. I would not recommend even to an enemy let alone a friend.

Internet Issues - Primary Node Unreliable

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have attempted to work with Linksys(Belkin) Velop support. However, the primary node keeps dropping internet connection and stops communicating with my Arris Cable Modem. I swapped primary/client nodes, tried wireless & wired client nodes, turned off IPV6, and made other configuration suggestions from their tech support. I even replaced my three-nodes with new units via RMA process, and after a couple weeks the new replacement nodes are experiencing the same issues. Lately, the internet keeps dropping 1-4 times per day and I'm planning to return them and purchase a different whole-house mesh WiFI solution.

This product is very buggy. Stay away from it. Lots of firmware issues way to many to list here. But one main annoying one is it doesn't report all the devices that are on the network or when it does its says they are on ethernet when they are not. Or just doesn't show the device at all. The nodes no longer show what they are connected to and this system is supposed to change your device to the strongest node near it and it does not. I've seen this on many occasions.... and there are performance issues its very unstable even if I'm right beside a node the speed is all over the place and way under performing....

If the slow internet speed happens when connected to your Linksys WHW0303 over WiFi, then you may try running the channel finder and if the node lost connection from the other, you can try to relocate that node to the other one and observe the connection. Called customer service and went through the entire firmware updates and trouble shooting process. 1 hour and 19 minutes later still no communication between nodes and was told to return it to Best Buy for a new system. 3-29-17 new system picked up from Best Buy and guess what...still same error message with an entire new system. My very old Net Gear still works and the Linksys Velop turns on, but isn't able to connect to the internet. I think at this point if my old one still works why change to a newer supposedly better router? I will be returning this Linksys Velop 2 node system and get a newer NetGear instead. Linksys your techs couldn't even figure it out. Literally told me to call my internet provider and use their system, since they are the ones that installed our new fiber optic system. I thought a Velop Mesh wifi would be an ideal solution for fast internet. I may as well use it as bookends. I have several times set it up successfully, and it has run as long as ten days without a hitch. but then it drops internet connection, and it won't reset easily. In fact I have spent hours and hours trying to reset and restart and have it work again. The control app on the iphone is worthless. Linksys cannot write software, and they don't give you any tools to troubleshoot. I don't want to be a full-time network admin simply to use the internet. I have ordered a net gear replacement, even though I am out $300. Just don't buy this product.

Does not come back online after a power outage, of which we have at least 1 every month in our area. Power cycling the entire network of factory reset are the only two options that Linksys support can provide. So I'm waiting for a call back from a Linksys Manager to see if I can return this product for a full review since I am dealing with maintaining a stable network environment since I purchased this item back in Nov of 18. I typed a full review detailing my problems but Best Buy's AI that's monitoring reviews seems to think there is unacceptable language in my review (there's none). Hence this short review.
