I enjoyed the mesh WiFi system with 2 nodes which allowed for better coverage throughout the house. This item was a little pricey but good quality.

Vital in spreading the range of the Wi-Fi especially when you have two houses together. Just make sure you know where you need the signal to reach!

We are getting better speeds now using these mesh routers than with the regular router we did have. We only needed two of them in our house.

First system had an issue, they replaced it no questions asked. The new system is great! Josh at Best Buy was wonderful through the entire process.

Nothing more than a glorified extender.

So I picked this up believing it'll be an improvement over a cheap $29.99 Extender halfway between the MR9000 and a dead zones in back of house. Surprisingly, not so much. I have tested, re-positioned, reconfigured, and restarted the Velop system multiple times but still getting terrible speeds. When my devices are connected to the main 'wireless router", speeds are roughly 300-400 mbps, when the devices are connected and tested with the nodes, speeds dropped down to 30-40 mpbs, and at several points, 2-3 mbps. I understand there may be some degradation of speed, but this is ridiculous. The extender speed, on average, is roughly 70-80 mpbs... Not sure what more can be done to improve the speeds. The firmware on the devices are current, and as stated, the nodes have been repositioned, tested, restarted etc. I'll keep it for a few more days but may just return. For the price, I expected better performance and speed.

I live in a VERY rural area and just got internet. The salespeople recommended these routers and after 1 small glitch and a 2+ hour phone call...they've worked magnificently!

      Hi, PhoneGuy,

You shouldn't lose the download speed when using the Velop system but, you may try to use channel finder on the Linksys app and make sure to update the firmware. For further assistance, please email us at [email protected] with your contact details and the link to this review for our reference.

This Linksys-Velop System was purchased to handle the wi-fi for the computers and cell phones in the house because our Ring did not work well on the AT&T system.

Out of the box setup was really easy. Getting the app to work, was also simple. The problem came down when I actually tried to use it. The speed was terrible. Nodes would randomly drop and restart. In a 20 minute period I got 5 node failure warnings on the app. The speed of the wifi in the house fell so badly that my kids couldn't even watch youtube kids. If you're looking for advanced features trying to hunt them down in the app was a nightmare. That was even if the feature existed. I had high hopes for both Linksys (a brand I have great success in the past) as a company and for their mesh network (which has been rated highly). Sadly this product didn't live up to any of it! This product will be going back to the store in the morning for a refund.

      Hi MalFactor,

It's odd that the Velop System is giving you such challenges when it comes to speed and connection stability. Before setting it aside, our Escalation Engineers would like to take a closer look at your experience and help you figure out what's causing these to happen. With the link to this review and your contact details, please send us an email at [email protected] so they can better assist forward.

Quickly the positives; 1) Very Easy setup 2) Blazingly fast, with right equipment 3) I think they have esthetically pleasing shape. Maybe someone can come up with some wraps for the nodes, to better fit with different decors? The negatives; 1) Price - but I suspect most homes could due with 2 nodes which would be cheaper. 2) Only 2 ethernet connections per node. 3) Very small area to get your hands into to plug/unplug ethernet cables. 4) No usb Specifics; When I picked up the delivered box, I thought why is this so big/heavy? Well the packing is top-notch as others have mentioned. It was very easy to go thru and unpack the contents. 1) Setup- I was skeptical when I noticed the only way to set-up the nodes was using a phone/tablet app. But I have to say it wound up being the easiest install I have done - and I have installed/replaced several modems/routers in my life. I was patient and followed the apps step by step instructions. And 15 minutes later I was up and running with a base and 1 node working fine. To speed along the process I used the same network name and password as before. So once I was done with the setup all of my devices connected with no issues. One of the great things with the new mesh networks is being able to move about the house and being connected/passed to one or another of the nodes seemlessly. Wi-fi extender addons are cheaper for existing systems but you wind up having to connect/re-connect to base wi-fi or extender network as you move from ones range to the other. 2) Speed - I am still using an older Netgear modem model 3000Dv2 (I turned off its built in wi-fi and it only had 2.4 ghz). So the speeds I am going to mention probably would be better with newer multi-channel modem with higher transfer rates. I have a 2 story house with the base upstairs at one end and the extension node downstairs at other end. The speeds downstairs went from 22 mbps to over 175 - using devices able to use 5ghz and AC compatible. For the devices that werent AC (only N) compatible using wi-fi I went from same 22mbps to over 66. Also for my gaming station I connected using ethernet cable to be able to get the fastest connection, since it only had N capability. I think this system is for someone who has everything connected using wi-fi. If however you use multiple ethernet hard wired devices, as I do, you may have some problems. Each node has only 2 ethernet connections and no USB. In my case this wasnt an issue as I have a Netgear unmonitored ethernet switcher model GS108 with 8 ports. I use it to connect to 2 desktops, 2 smart devices and my networked printer. For most probably not an issue but thought it worth mentioning.. End thought is that this is definitely an upgrade from N and coverage/speed is great. But if you mostly connect using wireless and currently have only N 2.4 ghz connection capability you probably should consider upgrading to AC wireless adapter(s) for your device(s), if possible, to get full value and speed of the Velop. Or use ethernet hard wire (wires are pretty cheap) if possible

I have been extremely impressed with the whole house Wi-Fi system. I find the coverage is excellent on all three floors. There are no dead spots, or even weak signal areas.
