Not bettter than my Spectrum router

After some difficulty getting this system set up, it works, but I find it no better than the router I sent back to Spectrum. the coverage is weka and does not switch automatically form the wifi to the extended wifi setting. To be fair, I have not yet contacted Linksys about these issues, but so far, I'm disappointed at having spent $200 for no gain.

To say i was excited to set up the Linksys Velop system would be a bit of an understatment. I have a two story Townhouse and The internet upstairs can be a bit shoddy, using an extender doesnt do much help as the best area to plug it in are areas that I dont have plugs. So needless to say mesh networks seemed to be the best way for me. Set Up- Setting up the routers and getting them online is a very easy process using the app on my smartphone. The only problem was as i was setting up the node that would connect to my modem, I received a phone and a text while the app was running and the app hardlocked on me. Once i restarted the app I noticed my network was setup and working, I was getting the internet on my phone. problem was if i tried to add another node it would fail constantly. So I had to completely reset the original node (which is a bit too easy and makes me worry of someone accidently resetting it all back) after that I re ran the app to set up the network. this time no crashes and was able to add all of the other nodes. Now to actual network performance, so far I have seen some good and bad. yes my network range has increased tremendously, but in my downstairs area where everything was much closer to my old router I have seen a bit of dip in performance. When i first start up streams it takes a little bit of time to get stable and move up to HD. once it starts I do not have any issues, but I never had issues like this with my old router. Now upstairs I am definitely getting better service. the speeds and connection up there are much better than they were before. I only have one device that I use upstairs often that we need the internet, and my router took a bit longer upstairs but still got the job done. The fact that my speed seem to be a bit slower downstairs where most of my stuff is kinda bugs me. not to mention each node only has to ethernet ports. makes it difficult to hardwire anything without buying a switch. Depending on your situation and how your internet is being used you might not see a big difference switching to routers like these, but if your someone that has a pretty big space and needs the internet to reach as much of it as possible this would be a good buy.

Ended up exchanging this one out for the 2 node one, if you have a gigantic property than this will be perfect for your house.

I have to say...this is my new favorite gadget! I was a little skeptical with the claims of how easy this was to set up and how much better the wi-fi in your home would be with it...but now that I have set it up and used it, I can honestly say...the claims they make are true! First of all...the setup couldn't be easier! You just download the app, and it pretty much walks you through everything. You click start, connect one of the nodes to your modem with the supplied ethernet cable. Then you tell it to connect to the node in the app and then wait for the little light to blink purple (which takes moments) Then you give your network a name and password and then you can put in where in the home the node is located. Like in your bedroom, or family room. Then you just tell the app you want to add another node (if you need one) and just follow the steps again. You will literally be up and running in a matter of minutes! I have full confidence that even someone who is not tech savy at all would be able to set this system up on their own! Now going to performance. We live in a duplex. Upstairs and partially finished basement where the kids mostly dwell with the PS4 and gaming computers and phones and tablets and things like that. We always had a good wi-fi signal upstairs, but downstairs was not so great. We thought this would be the perfect solution...and it totally was! We got the 3-pack system, but really are only using 2 of them, because they work so well. One in the family room area upstairs, and then another one in a central position downstairs. There is very little, if any, degradation in the signal when you move through the house. We have Charter for our internet, hard wired right out of the modem we get like 60-65 Mbps. Usually downstairs with our old router we would see between 25-30 Mbps. With the Velop system it's right around 55-60Mbps. Definitely a HUGE improvement over a standard wireless router. As I said, our house isn't that big, so we only needed to use 2 of the nodes, but there isn't any doubt in my mind that if you had a larger home, 3 of them would work just fine to cover your whole house. ...and on a side note, I also like the look of these nodes too. They are fairly small, inconspicuous, and will blend in easily with any decor and you probably won't even notice they are there. Overall, I couldn't be happier with this system! I would highly recommend it to anyone with a busy household with lots of gadgets all over the place trying to get a piece of the wi-fi signal. I know you will be VERY happy with it!

      Hi, Casually,

Setting up the Velop system is designed to be easy using the Linksys App, however, several factors may have caused the setback. Should you encounter any challenge with the device next time, please feel free to reach us at [email protected]. Our Escalation Engineers would be glad to give you a hand.
