The Linksys - Velop system has taken us to the next level of wi-fi speed and is so easy to setup. Our wi-fi router has to be in the basement so whole house was essential and this system was exactly what we needed. Well worth the price!

The Linksys Mesh system was easy to set up, works great, and most importantly has eliminated all the dead spots we previously had around the house. Great to see a product that does what is says it will.

I was skeptical about a mesh system, but this has been a really great purchase. I get consistent signal on all three levels of my home without needing extra nodes. Recommended.

Great coverage throughout our large home with no more dead spots. We have these placed around our home and now we enjoy fast streaming in all locations, including the back yard and front yard.

This product has definitely improved my WiFi signal in my two-story house, where I had been previously having connection issues and dead zones. So much better than using the router given to me by Optimum

This review of the Velop Whole Home wireless router is based on my use of it over a week long period. My household has several computers including some older laptops that have 802.11g 2.4ghz network adapters. There are 3 smart TVs, a ROKU 3, a Roku 4, two Playstation 4s, 5 Android phones, 1 android tablet and frequent visitors who have iPhones. I have two avid online gamers that are usually online at the same time. I make note of this so you get a perspective of the environment that it is used in. My previous router that I am comparing this to was an Asus RT-N66R which is a wireless b/g/n/ac 900 MHz Dual band router. I have a two story home that is 900 square feet per floor with a full basement and an attached 250 square foot family room. I have the main module set on the main floor just adjacent to the stairway going upstairs, a satellite module in the hallway at the top of the stairs, and a satellite module in the family room near the doorway to the main floor. The satellite units are both about 25 feet from the main module. The Velop comes really well packed in a made to fit box. The units are pure white in color and stand 8 inches tall and are 2.5 inches on each side, so they have a very small footprint. They are all the same, so any unit can be the main unit. The order is determined by the setup, which can only be done from a Linksys app on a Smartphone which can be iOS or Android, and you have to have internet access on that phone. The app takes you through setup, step by step, and it is quite easy, but it is also quite tedious time wise. Setting three modules will probably take a half hour if all goes smoothly. All settings will have to done from your phone. You can assign MAC addresses; you have the option to prioritize band width to up to three devices. It is advertised as a three band router, but the third band is a 5 GHz band that is used solely for the modules to talk to each other. It broadcasts both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands simultaneously. Your devices will only see the SSID for Velop and there is no way to assign an SSID for the 2.4 and 5 GHz channels individually. Your devices will choose which channel they connect to depending on the strength of the signal if the device is capable of both 2.4 and 5G. I can't speak for iPhones, but Android phones will not automatically switch channels. As an example, if you spent the day at a location that was broadcasting a 2.4G signal and you come home, your Android phone will remain on 2.4G. You have to switch it manually by turning off the WiFi and turning it back on. When it turns back on it will then choose the 5G band and remain there. I have seen this problem reported by users of the Google whole house system also, so it seems that this is a feature that the Android developers will have to correct. There is only one Ethernet port out. If you were feeding Ethernet to devices from your previous 4 port wireless router, you will have to buy an unmanaged switch, which can be had for 20-25 dollars. It is painless to setup a switch. Just plug in the power adapter and plug the line from the Velop into any port and your device lines into any of the remaining ports. Placement of the satellite units is important. You can't place a unit at a location that has a poor signal and expect it to turn it into a strong signal. the satellite unit has to be where it is still receiving a strong signal and then it passes it on to it's maximum reach. My internet maximum download which is always constant as I am on cable is 125 mb/s down and 22 mp/s up and I register that and a 10 ms ping on all of my Ethernet connected computers. My wireless connected computers may suffer a 1 mb/s reduction in upload time and will usually ping 3-4 ms slower. My Grandson who games online with a PC says his ping times on his network have remained the same as they were when we were on the Asus Router. The signal is even through the house now, whereas we had some spots that were previously weaker, although the signal isn't any stronger than it was before. I have noticed one rather perplexing anomaly. Although I have two units on the main floor, I receive a stronger signal on the upstairs floor, although there is no difference in test performance when using Ookla to test internet speed. It seems to handle high traffic well. One night when both Grandsons were gaming online and we were watching a 4K stream from the ROKU 4 I checked the internet speed on one of the wireless laptops and download speed was only slightly reduced and upload speed had dropped to 17-18 mb/s from the normal high of 22 mb/s. So far I have had no problem with dropped connections. So the good is that it seems to work well in my modest sized house. The units are aesthetically pleasing. You can do all the normal functions, such as creating a guest SSID, assign access by MAC addresses, assign ports and it automatically chooses the best channel for the units to operate on. It is relatively easy to setup. Also you should never be without a router. If the main unit fails, a satellite unit can be programmed to replace it, whereas if a normal router fails, you have to scramble. The so-so is that the signal strength seems to be non spectacular. Putting my phone next to a unit doesn't increase the signal strength at all. Sometimes the best signal is where the signal from the units converge or at the wall by the windows. I get two bars on my LG V10 downstairs and a weak three bars upstairs, but it seems to handle the bandwidth that I have sufficiently. It doesn't have multiple Ethernet ports, but that is cheaply remedied. The bad is that it is expensive and it doesn't have a full featured setup utility, although this won't matter to the average user. Also you are feeding electricity to three units instead of one, although I have no way of knowing what the difference in draw is between the 3 unit Velop system and one high performance central Wireless router. Also the placement of the satellite units will depend on availability of electrical outlets. The leads for the power supplies are about six feet long and they are white in color also. Although my previous router was not the latest and most advanced wireless router, it was a good unit that never gave me any problems. Considering the seamless reception at all locations in the house and that the cost of a high end router that may have more power at the source and may still provide sufficient coverage at the extreme locations in my house, but still would cost almost as much, I feel that this is a good choice for anyone that wants even distribution of the wireless signal and doesn’t want to have to be an IT engineer to set it up.

We live in a contemporary house with an unusual layout and the walls are not all made out of the same material. I've tried expanding our WiFi with powerline adapters but was still getting dropped connections. I installed this last night and the whole setup took about half an hour with no glitches. I tested on a PC that had spotty connectivity and noted a 50% increase in download speed. We also have two Nest Outdoor cams, one of which was always losing it's connection even though it was 10' away from the powerline adapter. It's only been a day but no dropped connections so far. We have three nodes but because of the unusual shape of the house I may get one more to expand WiFi out into the back yard. So far a great experience. Admittedly I've not had a whole lot of time to test but my first impressions are very positive.

It’s amazing for my 2000 square foot/2 floor house! I covers it all and provides a consistent connection for gaming in areas where I don’t have an Ethernet outlet. 10/10 would purchase again!

This is my second Velop system. It works smoothly, no blackout connection when switching between nodes. Excellente wifi speed even in the farthest node. Very very easy to setup as well. This is really the best solution for home usage.

Had a Spectrum router which was guaranteed to go out twice a day. Since purchasing the Linksys, nary a drop. Having the phone app is great for monitoring status and setting parameters.

Really helped create stability among all my devices and increase the speed connecting my devices. Would recommend to anyone that has slow or dropped connections in your house.

Of the node systems out there, this one is the most expensive. But for the money, it offers the most coverage/square footage. 3 nodes cover about 6,000 sq ft. Other node systems cover half the space with the same number of nodes. Setup was easy. I downloaded the Linksys app before I took my old router down. The app ran me through setting up the initial node and the others I connected. I had all three set up and running in about 15 minutes. I now have a strong wifi signal not only in my house, but in my yard as well. The nodes automatically connect you to the fastest/most stable node. I can stream a show while on a web conference and surf the web all at once with no loss of speed or lag. The app allows for guest wifi setup, parental controls, access priority. It also helps diagnose connection issues and troubleshooting.

I love how it connects to current internet and don't have to log into another username and password. The upstairs pod loses connection from time to time, thats kind of annoying

My WiFi was spotty around the house and this was the solution. No loss of signal and no loss of speed. Very useful when everyone is at home and needs their own space. Very easy to set up as well.

This 3-set router is great. It gives me a strong signal all over my home, both upstairs and downstairs. It is running my streaming tv, ring doorbell and cameras, Kevo locks and my SimpliSafe security system. It is great!

Couldn’t be happier with this router, even at the rather high cost. Was up and running with all three nodes in less than a half hour. Been running over a month with no need to restart.

WiFi around the house was diminishing with so many devices. Tried adding an extender but it didn't help much. Plus it added another SSID. With the mesh system it completely covers our house under one SSID and everyone is much happier.
