Overpriced and not enough advanced features
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I found that this WIFI system still has some issues when it comes advanced features. If you are an average user it will probably be fine, but this lacked the advance capabilities that netgear offers. I returned this and looking at other options.

Nice concept, poor execution
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In principle a great idea, in practise left a lot to be desired. Getting it to sync with my internet provider was an impossible task, tried multiple options posted on-line, and called/chatted with linksys without success. Sending back and going a different route

Excellent Whole Home Wi-Fi System
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very easy set up with the free Linksys app, it walks you right through, it even tells you if where you placed your nodes are a good place for them, each node which is each router, connects to each other seamlessly, there are lights on each letting you know what's going on. Each have 2 dual Ethernet ports, meaning each can be used to ether plug in your modem or a device. Basically each node is an almost portable router and range extender in one, I can use my second node to hook up my game system or TV wired. The design is my favorite part, I forget it's there half the time which is good. The app is very user friendly and secure, everything is done through there or on the secure web page. Up dates to the firmware are done over night without you noticing, to make sure your secured and have the latest features. Within the app each device shows up and you can control which ones get prioritized. Each node gives AC 2200 and UpTo 2000sq ft, so 2 give an effective AC 4400! And 4000sq ft coverage! That's insane. Unlike traditional range extender you won't lose speed or signal between each node or back to your devices, everything is 100%. Another thing is each use MU-Mimo and Tri-band giving the best stream of Wi-Fi. In all a great product that does what others do all in one package.

Solid Performance After Dicey Setup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, the performance of this system is excellent. The speeds I am seeing on various devices is excellent and provides consistent maximum speed or my internet access. I love that it combines the 5mghz and 2.5mghz bands into one SSID and the system manages the connection. The look of the "nodes" is good but nothing great. They are plastic and dont look premium but that really isnt an issue unless you are placing the node in an area where the design clashes. Now for setup. There are few instruction included with the units. Basically you download the Linksys App for iOS or Android and follow the steps. A few things: 1) Only power on one node at a time. Set up the first node connected to your modem and then once that is connected, turn on the next node and connect it. If you have several unconnected nodes turned on, the app gets confused. 2) I was surprised at the lack of range during setup. I was attempting to set up a node one floor down and about 25 feet from the node upstairs and it kept saying the node was "off the map". Brought the node upstairs, plugged in the power, and set it up and it went through the process fine. I then moved the node back downstairs and it worked fine. 3) The Linksys App (iOS) seems to be a bit buggy. A few times during setup I needed to close the app and restart the setup. It wasnt consistent or clean. The app itself is pretty easy to use but is pretty simplistic. Overall, for the price, you get solid performance. I would have expected a bit more premium build and design as well as a cleaner an easier setup. I would recommend this product however.

Impressive! Node placement is important
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Here’s our setup: we live in a two-story home with a full basement, approx. 4,000 sq ft. My home office is in a corner of the basement which is where our cable modem/router combo is located. We have a main floor master bedroom which is on the opposite side of our house from my basement office, and wifi coverage has always been poor in that bedroom. Wifi on our second level is a bit better but still significantly degraded. Now on to the Velop system: Setup was simple, just download the Linksys Smart Wifi app and it will walk you through the setup. After connecting the first node to the modem and it was up and running, I figured I would relocate it to our master bedroom, but the node kept losing its connection with the router. Mistakenly, I thought that once the node was activated I could then unplug it and move it to another location in my home. What finally occurred to me, and was not clear to me when following the setup instructions, is that the first node MUST remain connected to the modem via Ethernet then the other nodes can be added to create the mesh network. Once I went back to the app and went through the process of connecting another node this became clear. I placed the second node in our master bedroom and ran several before & after speed tests. Our internet service provides speeds up to 120 megabits per second. My ‘before node’ speed test in the bedroom resulted in 27mbps. After setting up the node in the bedroom my ‘after node’ speed test showed…wait for it…20mbps. Huh? Turns out I placed the node in an area where the 2nd node could not communicate with the 1st node that is connected to the router in order to establish the mesh network. Once I relocated the node to a more central location on our main level, my ‘after node’ test showed a whopping 119.8mbps. Impressive! I then went ahead and added a 3rd node upstairs; ‘before node’ speed test showed 39mbps, ‘after node’ test resulted in 100mbps (114mbps peak). I will do some additional testing and relocating of the 3rd node and I'll bet I can increase the speed even more. These results convinced me that the Velop system works extremely well, as long as you ensure the nodes are properly placed and communicating with one another. Great product, Linksys!

Do Buy the Linksys - Velop Tri-Band
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hate this system! We have had nothing but issues with this system. Constantly going out, Geek Squad doesn't know anything about it. They came out and had to take every off and reinstall, didn't help. Geek Squad is zero help since Rona came to town. They blame Spectrum. Spectrum ran every test and came back to this stupid Router. Spectrum sent me back to Best Buy!!!! Best Buy told us we can bring it back and get something else. But guess what! They can't put it in. We have to hire someone else to put it in and get everything set up. You better believe they will be refunding the install cost as well! If anyone has issues with their equipment, they might as well not count on the people to fix anything! until this virus is gone, they're not helping a soul!

I am a believer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was skeptic about this product at first because I have used Wi-Fi extenders in the past and did not know how the Velop was any different. I was wrong, it is different because the router and extender is all-in-one and no extra antennas needed. THE GOOD: I was able to get full signal strength in my entire house (about 3600 sq feet) and it supports up to 6,000 feet (you might be OK with 1 node but I got 3). I ran speed test and consistently get 90MB+ download versus my AC1900 router where I was only getting up to 20 or 30MB+ down on a Wi-Fi connection that was 115MB limit. I can also remote manage my nodes while outside of the house without any extra setup or having to use dynamic DNS service. ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT: Missing advance features like openVPN, no USB port for device cloud access, and only 2 Ethernet ports could be a turn off for hardcore gamers/tech savvy users. It is not a show stopper for average users and given this is Velop first generation release, the product will evolve over time. I did not test but pretty sure a switch, hub, or router can be plugged into the node for device expansion to compensate for the 2 Ethernet ports. FINAL VERDICT: Any device that gives me full signal strength and 90MB+ download speed over Wi-Fi will be my first pick on any given day. The easy setup is a plus and I did contact support but that was because I wanted extra help. Customer support was excellent.

Great mesh router system with effortless setup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The design is pretty slick and the setup was very effortless. It uses the Linksys Smart Wifi app and connects to the routers via Bluetooth. I was able to get the network up and running in about 10 minutes. The modules stand out a bit and are fairly tall. These routers are a tri-band system and I'm able to effortlessly stream 4k content on my network to multiple devices with no hang ups. This system is a little overkill for my 2 bedroom apartment, but with all 3 setup I get strong signal everywhere which is wonderful. For 90% of people these routers will be perfect as they look good, are easy to setup, and offer a good number of options for the moderate power user. There are quite a few advanced routing features available for tweaking your network, but keep in mind that this system is designed to be very user friendly, so don't expect the fine grained control you find in something like the WRT series. Unfortunately, like most mesh network routers, there are no USB ports so you can't plug in your hard drive or flash drive to act as a shared network storage device. This isn't a huge deal, but something to factor into your decision if it's something you require. An Amazon Alexa skill will eventually enable the ability to turn on and off the guest network along with speaking your router's password. I wasn't able to test this, but assuming it works well it will be a very handy feature.

Returned this item
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did the research, and Mesh is the way to go. After being told the Velop system was a slick, easy to use solution, I shelled out the $430 bucks. However, I had issues from the start, and never could get the system to operate smoothly. After 43 days of lagging TV, dropped connections and reboots, I returned the whole setup. Keep in mind there’s not a lot of configuration possible with these mesh systems, you just install the app and follow the bouncing ball. After returning the unit, I bought them Eeros system, and had a flawless install, and it has been up and running perfectly for a week now. Other people like the BB sales guy have the Velop system up and working well, but I didn’t have a good experience - even after spending lots of time on the phone with their tech support. Giving Lynksis 1 star for this product.
