When it worked it was fast and effective. However, this router has been spotty and unreliable for the time we’ve had it. To show how unreliable, my family had to buy unlimited cellular data just because it was more effective and reliable then using the WiFi. I hardly ever use this router on my phone but, unfortunately, I have to for my console and smart tv, where it is patchy and slow. I highly advise against buying this router, unless you are willing to spend extra for cellular and eventually a new router.

      Hi MatthewB,
The Linksys WRT3200ACM should be able to provide a fast and reliable wireless signal. There could be multiple factors that is causing these challenges.

We suggest that you reset and configure the router again to try and fix this. Also, make sure that the firmware is update.

Should this persists, we can have our Second Level Technicians contact you for further troubleshooting.

Just send us your contact details at [email protected] so that we can escalate your case. Don't forget to include the link to this post as a reference.

We hope to hear from you soon.

Run Away As Fast As You Can!!!

I have three of these very expensive routers in various locations, and all of them have been nothing but trouble. In a nutshell, the wifi is COMPLETELY unreliable. It's impossible to get through a YouTube video, Amazon Prime video, or do any other kind of streaming without buffering interruptions. Each time, the device I'm using shows no wifi signal. My wifi weather station goes offline multiple times per day before coming back on for no apparent reason (the weather station manufacturer said to change channels, but that didn't make any difference). For what it's worth, I am the "go to" person among friends and neighbors for IT help, and believe me when I say I've tried EVERYTHING to get these routers to work properly. Linksys software, open source dd-wrt software, switching channels, different antennas, changing power levels, mesh network, etc., etc. As a final experiment, I swapped out all three routers with some Actiontec units I had sitting around, and guess what -- I had NONE of the problems described above. Please save yourself the agony I've been through and buy something else.

    Not for Windows 10

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The router has a 3.0 port for external storage, the problem is that it is not compatible with Windows 10. As a matter of fact ( as per Linksys tech support ) none of their routers will support external storage with Windows 10. Their routers work on a smb1 protocol which is an unsecure platform that Windows has updated due to malware and ransomware ( wanna cry for example ). Microsoft strongly discourages enabling smb1 and Linksys has no update for their routers, and this has been for months ( fall creators update. ) So if you have Windows 10 and want external storage Linksys is not for you!

    Crippled interface

I was too quick to give it a good review, but Best Buy will not let me edit it. However, I see they let me write a new one. Thus the apparently duplicate review. In the old routers' (both EA and WRT) browser interface, I used to be able to check the "allow remote login" box. That allowed me to do exactly the same tasks in a browser regardless if I was at my home or overseas, on my computer or on a cell phone. (Had to do port forwarding in advance, of course). Now, that box is gone. No more remote login! I know about the "smart router" app, but I am *not* interested. I want the old functionality back. Since I do not have the time to wait for a firmware update, I will take it back, so that I get a full refund.

    Worked with issues

Although this router works pretty good for the basic internet connection. The web interface for the router is poor. Network map missing devices that were connected and working properly. USB drives would not stay mounted and finally the web interface for settings and management just quit working and I had to reset the router. Even after that network map was still wrong. Returned this product and got the Asus 3100, it's working great.

Worst router I have ever had the displeasure of using. When I first purchased it over a year ago, worked fine. Then after firmware update, it would crash almost every two or three weeks. I would loose my 2.4 GHz band completely-would disappear from network list of available networks completely. I was able to revert back to old firmware once and it worked fine for a bit then it and crashed again loosing both 2.4 and 5 GHz with only Ethernet connections working. After doing factory reset, forgot to turn off firmware update and was now unable to revert back to old firmware. Now I loose my 2.4 GHz band every couple of weeks and have do factory reset every time and reconfigure router each and every time. A real pain, this was a very expensive router. Look at other reviews before you buy-I should have. Common problem with this router. Think I will off load this on Ebay and recoup some off my money. I will mention the problem I have with it. Will never buy another Linksys product again.

    $250 piece of trash

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this product in feb of 2020, it took about a month and a half before I got what EVERYONE complains about dropped signal! I pay for 300mbs and would get about 5mbs. Didn’t matter which bandwidth I was on after 4 hrs with their technician they sent another one but I had to have a $300 hold on my card!? The new one came in right out of the box it wouldn’t work on 2.4hz bandwidth. They said they would send a new one it never came. I ended up filing a bbb and fcc claim an was able to get a refund but it could take 120 days! So now I’m out of pocket until they feel the need to send a check! Not only that they only gave me a refund before taxes!? Such a shame. Should take long for a class ACRION lawsuit in these people! Best Buy should do away with their product, as I wish I had viewed the reviews in their page! ABSOLUTELY NO POSITIVE REVIEWS! 100% NEGATIVE REVIEWS! STAY AWAY FROM LINKSYS!!!

I bought this 14 months ago and all was good. I was able to reach the hard to reach area of the bedroom and was happy. Last month it started to intermittently reboot. Today it’s dead as dead gets and out of warranty. Buyer beware.
