Great Addition to the WRT line, but.....
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Linksys WRT AC3200 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi router is very, very nice. It has the classic WRT look and is very large with great range and speed. The updated dual core processor and system memory are more than enough to handle anything you can throw at it. I have both the Linksys WRT 1900AC and the EA9500 5400AC routers from Linksys, and the WRT 3200AC offers equal range and speeds. The one major feature of the WRT3200AC that is also the one drawback to not necessarily needing to purchase this router, is the fact that it can support Tri-Band 160 technology. There are no Tri-Band 160 clients available that can utilize this increased performance. I saw the same performance from the WRT3200AC as I do with my WRT1900AC and EA9500. Don’t get me wrong, if you are in the market for a new router, this one is in the top of the class. The range and speed are incredible, not to mention all of the in depth and sophisticated router settings that you can configure for your LAN/WAN being a WRT model. And it would be future proof when it comes to Tri-Band 160 enabled devices, while still giving you the max performance on today’s phones and computers/tablets.

Fantastic router!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great router with excellent coverage and speed for 4K video and serving multiple users on Wifi at the same time with the 5ghz spectrum. Configuration and setup is super easy. I was able to set it up in under 5 minutes by connecting it to my ISP's modem/router. Once setup, the wireless signal was there and again good coverage and speed all around! Another thing that's great is the ability to connect eSATA and USB3.0 hard drives to share over the network. Again, configuration of this feature was easy! The last thing that's great is the ability to install a custom firmware, which I was able to do to customize the applications on the router (though this is a key feature of this routher, as with updating firmware on any other device I say try it at your own risk knowing that if you do it wrong it could brick the device and void warranties). Overall, great router for anyone that needs good WIFI coverage, and builtin flexibility of being able to customize it to meet your needs by adding on storage.

issues with speed on this product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have use this and put 2 wireless products next to the device plus the wired cpu and will get 80mps down and 25 up with cpu and the 2 wireless devises will be 10 down and 1.5 up and the other 10 down and 4 up at the same time. Something is wrong!

Posted .Hi Bbfriend,
Tweaking the wireless channel of the router is a good move to avoid possible interference in your network. The preferred wireless channels to use are 1, 6, and 11 since they’re considered non-overlapping channels. We can have an Escalation Engineer help you optimize the router settings to experience its full potential. Send us an email at LinksysCares@linksys.com with your contact details and the link to this review.

Versitile, works well, not sure of the value...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router is expensive and the thing I'm not sure about is if it is worth the cost, hence minus 1 star. For the techie who loves open source this item may be worth the price. For the average user with a larger home, more than 2500 sq. ft, who only wants one WiFi access point this may also be worth it to you. Some things to note before you buy... Use Chrome browser for initial setup, Windows 10 Edge did not work. Setup is super easy if you want to use it like a normal router with firewall, NAT and all the standard security items. If you want to use it as only a WiFi access point use "Bridge" mode, it is very basic but it works great. If you want a lot more flexibility regarding configuration then you will need to update to DD-WRT router firmware, the stock firmware probably won't satisfy the advanced user or special network needs. I would recommend this router for large homes or to a DIY techie user. If you have a smaller home and your needs are basic then a less expensive router may serve you just as well at a lower price point.

Excellent!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router is a monster in both size and performance! I'm upgrading from a Netgear R7000, which has been good to me, but the WiFi range was lacking on the 5GHz channel. This WRT3200ACM fixed the WiFi range issue, and the performance is amazing. It comes with features like guest network, parental controls (which works awesome for teenagers), device prioritization, and my favorite, VPN! Initial setup is easy, and the user interface is straight forward and easy to use. The addition of the Smart WiFi app makes making changes to the router very simple to do. The only drawback I can see from this router would be the size, but you have to consider all the performance packed into this machine. One thing that may help is that the rubber feet look like they have been provisioned to be able to wall mount this unit, which is the route I'll be attempting. I can't say enough good things about this router. I'm very happy to own it.

Not what it use to be
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Basically this is a Belkin router masked as a Linksys. No updates but works alright. Contacted belkin/Linksys for a 3200 adapter for my PC, they said there isn't one. Look elsewhere for innovation.

Worked ok for a year
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this last year and it worked great for about year. It then would disconnect and would need to be rebooted. Found out it was a software issue. Linksys customer was great and sent me a new router.

Barely a Day
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For what it's worth, the interface for configuring this has a really clean and pleasant design. Definitely not for an advanced user, though, so you would want to flash your own firmware on it. I didn't even get that far. I set it up, let it update itself, and it run for less than a day before completely dying. No lights, no SSID being broadcast, nothing. Frankly not worth my time to rinse and repeat...Kept using my old access point instead and put DD-WRT on that.

Unreliable Wireless
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did not have to restart or touch my old Linksys router more than twice a year. Then I purchased the WRT AC3200 Dual Band router. It has to be restarted multiple time a week in order to maintain any level of wireless reliability. Linksys has replaced it once and is in the process of sending a second replacement. Problem is I strongly do not believe the problem is hardware, but rather software. On that side it has been 5 months since the last firmware update. Very disappointed. On the positive side the NAS storage support is very good.

Posted .Hi, dbasri,
If the WRT3200ACM Router's firmware is updated and the settings for both frequency bands are properly configured, it should provide you a stable internet connection. We'd appreciate if you will share with us your case number at [email protected] so we can review what happened as this would help us improve the quality of our products on our next updates. Indicate the link to this review for reference.

ac speed is good - range could be better
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.=< 50" away the speed is good and the signal is strong. 75" or any walls in between at less distance and the speed suffers because the signal is weak. Pricey for what it actually delivers.

Not impressed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to like this router because of all the good reviews I read. I have this router wired to my modem/router and it disconnects from the internet regularly.

Posted .Hi Bob876,
It's possible that the firmware of your WRT3200ACM router is corrupted causing the internet to disconnect regularly. To achieve a stable connectivity, we need to perform a manual firmware upgrade and reconfiguration. Please send us the link to this post and your contact details at [email protected] so we can have one of our Escalation Engineers walk you through the steps.

Posted .Hi,
Signal interference may be one of the causes of your intermittent connection. We suggest that you set a static wireless channel on the router to reduce this. Also, make sure that the firmware is up to date.
If you continue to experience the same behavior, we'll have our Second Level Technicians assist you with further troubleshooting.
Just send us your contact details at [email protected] along with the link to this post so that we can escalate your case.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For years I have used Linksys routers. Purchase this one to see if it was better that my WRT2900acs,, .. the wrt3200 was dropping bandwidth on the 2.4 band. The 5 band was strong at firs , but after 1 minute started to drop like the 2.4 band. I used speedtest.com and used a laptop with the linksys wifi 1200 ac adaptor(wusb6300). I will wait for the next one. Bestbuy had it for 179.00. I retuned it. Bustbuy like always is very good on understanding and taking things back. linksys wrt3200 grade Is C. Bestbuy grade is A+.

About as overkill as a router can get
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Please note that I was given one of these to review from Best Buy in exchange for a fair and honest review. Having gone through several routers for testing purposes, I can attest that the Linksys WRT series are completely over-engineered because they can be. This isn't just for the current lineup, including the WRT3200ACS that this review is for, but even among older WRT models, including the WRT54G/GS/GL that nearly all of us owned at one point or another (and some of us still use to this day). What sets the current WRT series apart from nearly every other router on the market today is the current WRT router lineup is built for the tinkerer. Nearly every router on the market is generally limited to stock firmware because of either a limitation of the hardware itself, a security feature designed to prevent one from loading aftermarket firmware without a lot of work done to the router to allow aftermarket firmware, or zero support for the hardware from the open-source firmware community. The WRT series, on the other hand, has support from Linksys itself when it comes to aftermarket firmware; these routers are designed from the ground up to support aftermarket firmwares from the groups that publish DD-WRT, OpenWRT, and Tomato, among the dozens of others out there that are both open/free-to-use and not free to use. This is truly the enthusiast line of routers. As for the WRT3200ACS, what sets it apart from other models in the lineup is it's absolute speed. Like the 1200 and 1900 models, the 3200 has 5 gigabit ethernet ports (1 WAN and 4 LAN), one USB 3 port, and one USB 2/eSATA combo port. What sets it apart is it's wifi capabilities are much, much faster than the other models in this lineup. The 2.4GHz band covers your B, G, and N devices and is capable of speeds up to 600 megabits a second, and gives you great range. The 5GHz band covers A, N, and AC devices and is capable of speeds up to 2600 megabits per second. Throughput speeds over wireless do vary with devices, distance from the router, and environment. As an example, my iPhone 6s connected to this router would run around 97 mbps download on 2.4GHz N and would peg my internet connection - Comcast Extreme 250 - on 5GHz AC going both ways using the NPerf speediest on multiple servers. Connection speeds were definitely limited by other devices in my home; my Acer Iconia One 8 tablet ran around 70 down on 2.4GHz N and around 135 down on 5GHz N. In terms of coverage, I'd consider it good but not great; if you need a lot of coverage, look at Linksys' RangeMax line of routers instead. For the typical suburban home though, this router is fine. Do keep in mind, however, that you can always upgrade the antennas with this router to antennas with higher gain, or for special purpose installations such as wireless backhaul between offices, you can even use directional antennas. One of the coolest features of recent Linksys routers is the capability these routers have functioning as file and media servers. The WRT series allows you to use both USB and eSATA hard drives, a feature you won't find in any other router. The stock firmware supports HFS+ (Macintosh), NTFS (Windows operating systems), and FAT32 (compatible with most OSes) hard drives and flash drives. I saw single drive transfer rates on both eSATA and USB of around 65 megabytes per minute no matter what format the drive was in. DLNA media functionality using Kodi on both a FireTV Stick and Android TV was easy to configure and use. If there's any drawback to this router, it's the fact you have to install aftermarket firmware to really take advantage of everything the hardware can do. The stock firmware doesn't really have too many settings outside of what your regular router does, but aftermarket firmware can turn this router into anything from a standard access point to a VPN endpoint for your home or office, to a hosted hotspot in your café, to a full web server. The possibilities are endless with this device. All in all, if you want a highly customizable router that can do nearly everything, this would be it.
