Great upgrade to my old router!

A great fast router
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router was very easy to setup and didn't take too much time. The router itself has the "classic" look and colors of some of Linksys' past routers, so it might look a little familiar to those who owned them in the past. The router itself is not too big or too small. It has 4 antenna bands that you attach and a power cable. Setup of the router was easy and the quick guide is easy enough for anyone to use. Just follow the instructions then you'll be guided online on how to set it up. What's nice is that it forces you to change the router name, so you're not stuck using the default one and have to come up with your own. The one thing I would say that might be a drawback for some is that there are only 4 Ethernet ports on here. You still have a USB 3.0 and an eSATA port, which I use the 3.0 for my one external hard drive as a media server. You also still use the same Linksys site for your router and the same app for your phone and tablet, so nothing there has changed.

Great router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a nice router with a fairly simple setup. Once I entered the IP address on my computer and created an account it was a breeze. I'd highly recommend downloading the Linksys app. It makes it easy to see what's connected, set device priorities, change passwords, and enable the guest WiFi. I definitely notice a difference in speed with this router. The range is about average. I don't see any difference between this one and my previous, cheaper, router. In my household we stream movies, surf the internet, and play online games with multiple devices connected and haven't noticed any issues. I hope this review helps.

WRT3200ACM: Has a lot going for it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First things first, I received a free WRT3200ACM from Linksys Friends and Family in exchange for honest feedback. The packaging was well thought out, and easy to open. The unit is solidly built, and about the same size as the rest of the WRT line. The cd contains documentation, which I only found one error, in the front call out of the LED's. It says 2.4 GHz for both the 2.4 and 5 Ghz, even though it says 5 Ghz on the router diagram. Setup is extremely easy using either the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi account (which allows you to manage the router remotely), or logging into it locally. Started by logging in, changed the routers password, then mimicked my old routers wireless settings, and everything was back online with just a minor hiccup - I just wish they had a setting for AC/N as a network mode choice on the 5 Ghz channel with 80Mhz width (Like open source firmware does), as I have a DVR that works on AC or N but that was the one device out of 28 that needed me to set the router to Mixed mode for it to connect. While the router is set at AC only mode at 80Mhz, it doubled my wireless laptop download and upload to my wired gaming PC, 40 MB/s, 31 MB/s respectively, which really surprised me (Note my laptop is a floor lower and ~30ft from the router, with a high gain adapter). Over my review time, I have noticed that the wireless sometimes slows down doing speed tests which a reboot fixes, and transferring a 5GB test file sometimes the rate would drop to zero for about 30 seconds and pick back up then down again. This can be fixed with a future firmware release. In closing: It really does have a lot going for it, the web management responds fast, the flash and RAM sizes are huge, the processor I believe is one of the fastest currently available in a consumer router. And, one BIG thing that I like, is that it has two partitions so it is hard to brick if you like messing around and adding features with third party firmware. Three things I wanted to test but couldn't: MU-MIMO, I do not have any compatible adapters yet DFS channels, I unfortunately live near a weather radar 160 Mhz, as of right now I would need two of these routers

Great router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Initially I was on the fence about this router because of the price but after reading reviews and talking to the Best Buy associate about it I sucked it up and spent the money and I'm glad I did. The router covers our new house which is about 2600sqft. and even goes into our backyard out by our kids playset which is about 50-60ft from the house. It's a lot faster then our old one. Updating apps on my phone is super fast and basically no lag time on hulu and Netflix. The app is nice too to set up control of who can get on and who gets to use what speed. Overall I would easily buy this product again.

Great Router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great signal strength and range and easy to set up. The selling point is the app. It gives you full control over your router and it can all be done from your phone.

Very very fast router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to replace my WRT1900ac, because of the improved WiFi speeds. The WiFi speeds went from ~280mbit to ~530mbit on my laptop, which is exactly what I was hoping for. What I was not expecting was the boost in wired Internet performance. I went from ~780mbit to ~930mbit speeds with the new router, having changed nothing else. Setup is brain dead simple, range on the 2.4Ghz network is more than adequate, and the feature set is great. If this unit turns out to be as reliable as my old router (had the WRT1900ac in service for 3 years without a hiccup) I'll be very happy.

Linksys, I just can't quit you.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a 10 year love affair with my Linksys WRT54GL router. Unfortunately, the wireless G just wasn't cutting it for my modern streaming devices. I tried to go the cheap route, and buy a cheap Chinese AC1900 router online. It worked for a couple months, then it decided to quit on me. I went to Best Buy and bought the Linksys WRT3200ACM, and it was worth every penny. My sluggish smart home devices now respond in a snap. My wife no longer swears at Alexa! Setup was a breeze, and speed and signal strength are excellent. Sometimes you get what you pay for!

Easy installation and set up.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just plugged the router into the modem and when I connected to the router from my computer and opened IE, I was immediately sent to the setup for the router. Took me only five minutes to set up the router and get connected to the internet. Speed has been exceptional and I no longer have periodic disconnects from the internet. I have three computers and three IPhones in the household. One computer is for gaming. With the dual channel, the gaming computer uses the 5 GHz channel and everyone else uses the 2.4 GHz channel. Couldn't be happier with it.

Linksys Great Home router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the ease of using the App and managing my router from anywhere. I can troubleshoot small problems remotely. I can even use the app to manage my kids’ internet time. The kids obviously disagree, but they like the performance.

Solid, Compatible, and Fast
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The new Linksys is a MU-MIMO, meaning "Multi-user" and "Multi-Input and Multiple-Output" technology, allowing many devices to connect and transmit data at the same time. This technology is great as it doesn't have to take turn to wait for data transmission, so when you have multiple people or devices using data connection, it retains smooth and fast access. So far after receiving this from Best Buy, I am happy with the speed and connectivity. No dropped connections or slow or choppy TV streaming. For those of us geeks, you can replace the firmware with DD-WRT as it is made to be compatible with the Open Source project. I have it customized for VoIP and Video Streaming as well as my firewall with custom ports. This is a must have if you want extra security in your geeked up home.

Very good router for my smart house
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This routers can handle all my smart home needs (not just tablets and smartphones, but also connected speakers and appliances). It can program it without as much struggle. It is definitely much faster then my previous router. Even with all my devices connected to this router, I could not tell any lag time and the connection seemed to be just as fast as when it was just one computer. As far as distance, it seems to have really increased my range. I received a free sample from Linksys in exchange for your honest feedback.

Great Router, Easy setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this router because I already have the WRT 1900ACS and like it. The reviews were good and setting the 3200 up to be my primary router and have the 1900ACS be a bridge to bring wifi the the top level of my large house, was a snap. I like the iOS mobile app and would recommend this line of routers to anyone who wanted simple setup and great wifi reception. I looked at a mesh setup, but with these 2 powerful routers, I can hit every nook and cranny of my 4000 sq foot home and have very fast wifi speeds.

Excellent speed with good (not great) range
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.SUMMARY: Excellent speed, awesome features including the ability to use open source firmware. Lacking in ports but as tech evolves everything should be wireless so more than 4 ports is probably unnecessary. The range is somewhat disappointing in my testing but I'm comparing it to what is in my opinion one of the best on the market, if not the best, the EA9500. This router will work well for most households, apartments and businesses. DETAILS: My internet is Xfinity Blast and typically clocks in around 240/12 anywhere in the house with slight loss of speed in remote areas but still over 200/10. The router placement is on the 2nd floor and not centralized, but currently that's not an issue. I have 3 TV's each with a stick/box for streaming, multiple computers/laptops/phones are typically on simultaneously. With the WRT3200ACM the speed is basically identical to the EA9500 on the first and second floors, however, in the basement is where I see the range become an issue on both wireless bands. On the side of the basement closest to the router I see a 10% drop in speed. On the other side of the basement the speed is about half of the EA9500 and inconsistent. I noticed the WiFi on my cell phone dropped a bar so I assume the range is at fault. With that said, I'm still running somewhere around 100/10 in the most remote section of the basement which should be good enough for most purposes. Also, this significant drop needs to be put into perspective. At this spot in the house I'm essentially 50+ ft away, down 2 floors and behind several walls and doors. Also of note: In the past I've tried using Linksys routers as bridges and usually encounter difficulty with the setup. I tried entering bridge mode with this router and it worked like a charm first try. If I did not own the EA9500 I would give this router a 5/5 but because the range on the EA9500 is beast-mode I have to take 1 star away. I'm confident you won't be disappointed with this router. I would like to thank Linksys for sending me this router in exchange for an honest review.

Much needed replacement
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Recently upgraded my home security with some cameras. Was having issues with connecting to all the outdoor cameras and keeping all my devices connected without over working my old Linksys. Finally buckled down and bought this one. I am very impressed so far with the ease of use and how easy the initial setup was. With the ability to make changes anywhere and the strength to provide signal to my entire home, I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a decent router for a good price

Best Wireless Router I've Owned To Date!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This by far is the best wireless router I have owned. I have been a Linksys fan since day one. The WRT3200ACM is a BEAST!!!!! The setup is so simple a caveman can do it. I changed the routers name, password and all of my devices connected flawlessly. The range is crazy and I do not have any dead zones in my 2-story house. I currently have 14 devices connected and the WRT3200ACM can handle up to 32 devices without a hitch. I highly recommend this and you will not be disappointed at all.

Great Specs; Ultra Slow Performance = Defective?
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The WRT AC3200 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi Router has amazing specifications!! Enough to tempt me from my 2) existing Apple Time Capsule 3.0TB Router / Hard Drives. I have over 95) devices connected, so the possibility of boosting speed to an even higher level than at present is appealing. I connected this router, updated firmware & set it up by the book. First observation: A lot of great whistles and bells! Every connected device is identified by name, complete with an icon for each device! Second observation: You can prioritize up to 3) devices, and even hold bandwidth for them! Third observation: Front panel display is much more intriguing than the 2+ year old Apple TC's. It is very informative. Fourth observation: USB 2.0 & USB 3.0 jack on the back is super convenient for connecting an external hard drive and a printer. Fifth observation: Many, many options available on the free Linksys Smart WiFi app! I loaded the app on 2) iPad Pro's & 1) iPhone 6S+. It is a great app, super intuitive & very flexible. BUT HOW DOES IT PERFORM??? ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!!! Apple TC speed via ethernet: 301 Mbps Apple TC speed via WiFi: 245.99 Mbps at 5' from router WRT AC3200 speed via ethernet: 121.75 Mbps WRT AC3200 speed via WiFi: 49 Mbps at 5' from router Worse yet, WRT AC3200 speed dropped to 11 Mbps before disconnecting most of the 95+ devices! HOW WAS THE EXPERIENCE, SPECIFICALLY? 9) Big A** Haiku Fans (substitute "ss" for the real name of the high tech fan manufacturer), their related wall switches & Haiku Lights would not connect 4) DropCam (Nest) cameras would not connect 50 feet away, a Speed Test could not get enough signal to run a test! iDevices all went offline, not enough signal to work. 59) HUE Lighting Bulbs connected to 2) Hue hubs would not operate. 4) WINK Relays went offline, and could not connect. 1) Netatmo Welcome Camera with Facial Recognition could not come online. 2) iRobot 980 Vacuums could not come online. 14) Apple Airport Express units used for sound would not connect. I called the Technical Support Line at Linksys & was helped by Jack for over an hour. We switched off 2.4, then 5, then restored to factory settings. Jack concluded this is a defective piece. Linksys Customer Service is closed on Saturdays, so I must call Monday morning to arrange for an exchange. The reason why I use 2) Apple TC3.0 Time Capsules at present is: They are at opposite ends of my 3,500 sq. ft. house. They are ethernet connected; one serves as the router; the other to extend the network. This provides the maximum bars of signal strength throughout the house. The specs of the WRT AC3200 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi Router suggest it can easily outperform the older Apple routers in the area of speed. I am concerned that one device positioned at either end of my house - as limited my my ethernet connection & periphery devices - will not provide sufficient signal strength throughout the house. I am not giving up on this Wireless Router, because it has so much potential! I will attempt to swap it out with a replacement unit, and retest. I will submit an update to my test report at that time.

Super fast; Struggles with setup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router is super fast! It replaced my Apple Airport Extreme and I couldn't be happier. not bad, but not top of the line
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was anxious to see how this router would compare to my AC5300 model from Linksys, and, after using it for a few days, I am not that impressed. the range is similar, but, I had alot of trouble getting it to keep an internet connection, although, after restarting my modem and network switches several times, it seems to have stuck for now. Plus, I assume that as newer firmware is released, there might be an improvement to the occasional drop outs I am seeing. Its not an equal to the fastest, most expensive routers out there, but for those trying to keep the costs down a bit, it is probably a good option.
