I’m a relatively late arrival to Mott The Hoople (within the last 5-6 years), but once I started listening, I was instantly hooked. Since getting this CD, I’ve had to force myself to listen to other music. I’m so impressed by the songs included here, but even more so with the quality of the sound. It’s full, heavy, clear, and satisfying for being 40 years old. The liner notes on this special release also reveal an interesting story about Led Zeppelin watching from the wings of the concert and trying to get onstage to perform with them. That just goes to show you how big Mott was and how well-regarded they were by all. The band was firing on all cylinders. They gave you tunes that were heavy, rocking, grooving, touching, and soulful all in one set. If you don’t have this CD in your collection, I highly recommend it.
