    Best Phone for Seniors

Got this for a senior family member and they love it. This line of phones is specifically designed for seniors, with large numbers on the keypad for easy reading, plenty of volume for ease of hearing, and overall it is very simple in design and easy to use. No unnecessary apps or other bells and whistles. There is also a panic button in case of emergency. This is a great phone for seniors, having been specifically designed for them.

Recommended by Geek staff but not a good fit for me. No keyboard makes text messaging challenging.

It is not truly Alexia voice enabled.

I bought this phone based on advertisment and claims it had Alexia enabled voice command capability. I was looking for voice enabled phone in hopes it would be user friendly enough for my 85 year old mother to dial by voice. Specifically, I was hoping the so-called Alexia voice functionality would allow her to simply use voice prompts for calling. After purchasing and setting up, it turns out it is really not "Alexia" but a Lively watered down add-on to Alexia that has very limited capability and in no way resembles Alexia functionality or capability. Moreover, the user must say " Alexia followed by Lively" in a very clear voice, or it does nothing. Even when properly annunciating "Alexia Lively" and requesting to call " person on contact list", it fails to call 30% of the time and just hangs. The contact list can be updated online, but it you select favorites or emergency contacts, Alexia Lively thinks there is multiple duplicates and gets confused. This is by far the most clunky application I have ever seen or worked with for Alexia enabled device. Needless to say, my Mother was much more frustrated with this "senior" targeted phone than navigating her old standard flip phone. Do NOT purchase if thinking about using the so-called Alexia voice enabled features. It's not Alexia enabled, rather a very poor and clunky Alexia Add-on. The Big red button is a 911 call just waiting to accidentally happen for many seniors hitting it in error. It should have a delay or way to verify if button was pushed in error, before calling 911. The only way to enable the big red button to call customer service / Lively operator is adding additional services that are very expensive and more than the cost of monthly service for cell and text costs per month.

Bought one of these for my mom and another for my father in law. Love the fact that this phone is easy to use though the number keys could be a bit bigger. Overall, great phone for seniors.

Not user friendly for elderly mother

Bought phone for my Mom (90 years old); phone was not user friendly for her; too many steps needed to answer phone, make calls, get messages. Also apparently number she was given was recycled from someone who was very involved politically and otherwise. She kept getting junk calls (and texts) from political candidates (recordings) and text messages from people relating to last person who had number. Real problem was that all of the calls and especially texts were 99% junk texts which she had to pay for. She never texts and the only calls she made or would receive were from a list of specific people (family). Phone was for her security in case of power outages and to have when out doing yard work. Her words, "...phone was too intimidating and complicated." They did offer to changer her number to a different one, but she determined she simply wanted to cancel and get a different phone. Date for return has passed; we cancelled her service and she has the phone in a box in her desk. Lively Help were always helpful and gracious, but phone just was not workable for mom.

Just what my elderly in-law needed. The smart phone version was harder for her to use because of the touch screen. Physical keys are simpler. Adding in-ear earbuds (not included, we added them) means she can use it without having to find her hearing aids. Also, the earbuds in the jack don't silence the ringer, something you won't find in the documentation but is helpful to know.

I actually have NO IDEA about the quality or features of this product. I couldn't activate it because there was no serial number card inside the retail box. I went back to the store and tried to exchange it for another just like it. But I checked the replacement phone while I was still in the store. There was no serial number card in it either. It seems to be a common problem, at least in that store. Best Buy graciously gave me a full refund. I hope they figure it out.

The standby time on the battery. Does not seem to last as long as I had hoped. I don't use the phone other than an emergency backup phone. It loses significant charge just sitting idle.

Love it! First of all It was so much easier to set up! I had bought another phone about a month ago to replace my old Tracfone which had been discontinued. I could not get anywhere with that new phone. I mean anywhere! Finally gave up on the thing and after a lot of searching around decided that the Lively Jitterbug looked like something I could deal with. Got one for me and my husband and what a difference!
