Bought this for my technology challenged sister and she is now texting! Will know more next visit with her. So far my setup for her was easy, features are accessible with words verses icons which is positive for seniors. I need a new phone and am considering the smart Jitterbug and I have used the iPhone for years. One catch is you have to sign up for the emergency help service to save money. It’s $40.00 a month unlimited phone, text and data. Good buy so far!

Bought this for my 91 yr old Gram - she was adamant that she needed a phone she could take pictures on and see them. Works great - easy for her to operate. GreatCall can be a hassle, but worked thru it. If you buy it for an senior in your life, put it in your name - several hassles avoided when you do!

Bought this for 86 year old mother. She was familiar with cell phone from years of use. However, all the updates and newer model phones have become complex. This phone is dummy proof. Tech support is USA based. Nothing but polite and helpful folks. You can remove the apps to just the basic (like in photo of phone, on home screen I put Phone, Contacts, Text Message, Camera, and Photo Library.....no confusion when phone turns on as to what mom wants to do! Only complaint is the earpiece volume is less than desirable for hard of hearing which is a disappointment. However, when on speakerphone is just fine. My mom (some hearing loss) finds it easier to hold the phone casually on speakerphone and walk around rather than hold against ear. If in noisy area, she simply moves the speaker closer to her ear. I removed internet and other stuff that confuses from home screen. Lastly, you can set it up with your own Google account to update and download apps (phone is Android and uses Verizon network) and then delete the Google account from the phone so as not to hassle with updates (at your own risk if updates are critical).

The phone is easy to use for my mom but the 5star button is located in a terrible spot. She called 911 six times in one day by hitting the button by accident. There is no way to de-activate this feature. I was going to send it back but discovered that there is a $35 dollar restocking fee. Put a couple layers of duct tape over the button so she couldn’t push 911 again. Not happy with the purchase.

I bought this phone for an elderly family member basically for their safety. Although they do not currently text, the phone has that capability, in addition to standard calling. It is reasonably priced, functional, and easy to operate. The medical alert feature is an added plus.

This phone was purchased for someone who had been using a flip phone for the past 20 years, but what interested in being able to send and receive texts and e-mails from her grandchildren and children. Once the phone was activated, she learned how to text in a relatively short period (with some frustration with the tight key pad). But then she discovered on her own (no mention in the instructions) that by turning the phone sideways, the key pad became somewhat larger with more space between the "keys". Still working on e-mails and surfing the internet.

I bought this phone for my mom to replace her water-logged iPhone. My mom is 77 and not the most tech savvy but the Jitterbug 2 has been much easier to adapt to and learn. Instead of the small icons on the IPhone, the functions are listed as Line items and very easy to read and understand! My favorite thing about the phone is the simplicity to go back to the Home screen and the ease of the Back button. My only negative thought is the quality of the camera! I highly recommend this for parents, or senior citizens. The 5* and Greatcall feauture make me feel much more comfortable for safety purposes!

We purchased this phone for our 96 year old father. He had always used a flip phone but his eyes made it extremely difficult for him to see the screen. We are very pleased with the phone except for the Call 5* feature button, not the service. Due to it's location it is EXTREMELY easy to touch in error. The operators are incredibly responsive and very understanding. They keep reassuring my father that it happens to everyone using the phone but it doesn't change the fact that the button is in a very poor location.

I bought this for my mother who is over 80 y.o. She switched from using a flip phone to this Jitterbug Smart2. This is much easier to use than an iPhone because the buttons are very large, great for people with vision impairment, and has slight hand tremor. The phone uses a light version of Android so she can also set up "Hey Google". The phone only comes with 8GB of memory. I'm pretty sure we can change to a larger memory chip. Overall, she's very happy with it.

I've had my old Jitterbug flip phone for some 17 years, and wanted to try something more "high tech!" The Jitterbug Smart2 Phone has a wonderful look with larger letters & numbers. I have had this Smart2 phone less than a month, and am learning a lot from the User Guide that came with the phone. I am also pleased there is a phone number I can call if I get lost, which has happened once! Wish me luck!

I just got it for her, so I cannot comment on how well she likes it. But she preferred it to others that (I told her) reviewers recommended. Her friends in her retirement home used it and assured her that it would meet her needs. A member of the retirement-home staff took two-and-a-half hours to set it up for her. Sounds high to me, but I'm clueless about modern electronics, and the woman who helped her had experience doing this for many others at the retirement home. Just something to keep in mind. Don't try this on your own. My mother received a charge for initiating her account, which was never mentioned in the marketing. She is still managing this with her credit card company; she thought initially that the charge was a scam. An unnecessary bump that the phone manufacturer could have avoided with more open marketing information. So, I am hoping for the best, but it has been a bumpy start. Not what I expect from the companies that I normally do business with for the services that I use.

Excellent for seniors in particular. Very easy to set up & navigate. Easy to read screen. I'd recommend also purchasing the front & covers.I like the 5 star in case something happen to me, as I live alone. Another nice feature is that you can change at any time. The minutes & data costs seem to be very reasonable, compared to others not with Jitterbug,

I am 76 years old. I had a 3G flip phone for 14-15 years. All I wanted to do was make calls. Then I dropped the phone and it was history. I thought it was time to upgrade. Went to Best Buy. A very patient salesman took me through my options. I purchased the Jitterbug Smart2 Prepaid Smartphone. I am not a technical nerd. Who ever designed this phone had me in mind. This phone is so easy to use. If I can use it anyone can. Plus Best Buy was having a special on the Jitterbug and I could not pass it up. Highly recommend the Jitterbug. 5 stars.

The Jitterbug 2 is almost identical to the original Jitterbug, delivering the service and performance expected of any well functioning smartphone. They've also made some improvements, especially regarding the ease of navigating the phone's various features. I wish that the Jitterbug 2 fit in the same 2 cases we bought for the Jitterbug. (Lastly, regarding my Original Jitterbug, it suddenly died within a few months of the one year warranty, and the folks at Jitterbug were not very helpful. They advised me to purchase their new Jitterbug-2. Did anyone else have this experience?)

When all older phones became totally obsolete and unusable due to lack of support from the cell phone carriers, this was the ONLY option made which was user friendly enough. It made sense to my elderly mother where any other “smart phone” did not. I found that some people cannot understand what the pictures (icons) mean. It has all the regular functions anyone can need. It even takes good pictures!

This was a good decision for our 80+ parent. She finds the Jitterbug easier to use than her old smart phone. The written description of each function button extremely helpful (vs trying to memorize different function symbols). Only small drawback, it can be easy to accidentally hit the 5star button and this of course brings on a 911 call. Apparently this function can not be turned off on the Jitterbug (and is not needed in her living situation). Home button is close to 5star button, so may be not the best placement of the 5star feature, easy to push by accident...
