I bought this headset because i thought it was nice that i could very easily swith between PC, Xbox, and PS just by hitting a button. My issue now is not with BestBuy or the headset itself, but it's with Logitech. I contacted Logitech after doing a ton of research to purchase a new wire because my new puppy chewed through the wire. I knew that voided the warranty, so i never once tried to use it. Well, they refuse to sell me a wire and have told me to get it from a retailer. Mind you, NOBODY sells it, which is why i contacted the manufacturer. How can you charge someone $380 for a headset and refuse to sell a paying customer a part that they are asking for to purchase?

Versatile Gaming Cans for All Gaming Systems

These headphones add to your over-all gaming experience by allowing you to clearly communicate with your team mates. The fact that they can seamlessly switch from one operating system to another is a huge bonus. My favorite part is the docking station though. It allows your headphones to have a home spot while keeping them charged up so they are always ready. The dock has some handy and convenient LEDS that show how much battery is left in your headphones as well as which channel you're using (Bluetooth, XBox, or PS5). If you're a PC gamer, then these are for you as well. I really appreciate their ability to switch to the system you're interacting with as needed. I can be gaming on my laptop and bring them into the living room to use on my Xbox and they switch over flawlessly. Logitech really nailed that feature and it is what sets these headphones a part from their competition. The build quality is fantastic and is evident by the attention to detail. The boom mic is flexible and can be set into many positions (cannot be moved to the right side however) The speaker cans rest on a metal track which allows you to twist the cans for maximum comfort. I see a lot of though went into comfort and it shows. Excellent sounding and versatile headphones for gamers.

King of the Hill for Dolby Atmos gaming

The A50X headset delivers stunning audio immersion and clarity, in a design that lets you wear them for long periods of time with no fatigue. Out of the box you can feel the sturdiness of the design of both the headset and base, while noticing how lightweight they’ve kept the headset. The base station is where everything happens, more on that in a minute, and you get the headset and then almost all the cables you’ll need to fully realize the audio. You will need to supply your own extra 2.1 HDMI cable if you want to experience Dolby Atmos. The base station is sturdy and acts as the charger for the headset, as well as controlling most of the tech. It has a deep cradle where the headset sits, and it only orients one way, the microphone needs to be placed on the left side (facing) or it won’t dock. Not really an issue, you get used to it after a few tries. You can easily see the bright display of how much charge you have remaining and which device the headset is trying to communicate with (Xbox, PS5 or PC.) There are a lot of cables, so it’s not the cleanest setup ever, so be prepared for some cable management. ***First thing you need to do is connect the unit to a PC and download the latest firmware*** Normally that’s a given for other types of tech gear, but it wasn’t something I thought of initially with the A50X. I learned very quickly that something wasn’t going to plan, so updating the firmware was the next step. I was having audio drops, cracks, no 4K passthrough and the Dolby Atmos license wouldn’t validate, etc. Updated to the latest firmware and then set up the A50X to both an Xbox Series X and a PC using the detailed instructions given by Logitech and things were much better. You need to follow the instructions exactly. Seems odd given that these are just a pair of gaming headphones, but there’s a lot of tech going on in here, mainly the base station, and missing one small step will limit them severely. If you want to use the Dolby Atmos, you must use the included USB cable from your device to base station, and then use the included HDMI cable to your device and then your own HDMI cable to your TV/Monitor. I found that always powering on the base station and headset after the device (Xbox/PC) is best but not always required. The Dolby Atmos license is lifetime with the A50X and the handshake will happen once your device recognizes the headset using the USB cable, you have the Dolby Atmos app downloaded and an internet connection. It also allows for 4K 120hz passthrough, and the latest firmware fixes issues with LG monitors (something else I had issue with earlier before I updated) and most of the time that works perfectly also. I do find however that from time to time I need to power cycle the base station, to resolve either Dolby Atmos not recognizing the license, because it appears this handshake has to happen every time, and sometimes passthrough not working as expected. But always, a quick power cycle alleviates the issues, just sort of a hassle to need to do that at all. The sound quality is amazing. Since these use Logitech’s “Lightspeed” technology, connection is immediate with never any lag. Using Bluetooth is great, although you won’t get the Atmos sound, but it’s by far the best sounding Bluetooth gaming headset I’ve used. Now the Bluetooth is received into the base station, not the headset directly, so keep that in mind. These won’t be the best for travel or using too far away from the base station, but the sound is crystal clear, amazing highs and lows and no cracks or pops. Using Dolby Atmos really takes it up a notch. The immersion that the A50X places you in is incredible. You hear things as almost as if you’re in the environment. Whether it’s gaming, watching a movie, etc. the nuances of the sound around you, above and below you, is just fantastic. The A50X have a pretty balanced sound profile, so bass is even and clear, not muddy and highs are clear and precise, not too abrasive. You can also modify the sound profiles using the Logitech Hub app or the Dolby Atmos app on your device. You can tailor to a more bass heavy or clearer communication profile, suited to whatever your situation requires. I prefer more bass, and the A50X never distorts or gets muddy, thanks to the increased driver size. I will say volume seems to max out on me where I’d like to have a little bit more, but not a big deal. The soft foam ear cushions are enjoyable, and I’ve not had ear fatigue one time while wearing them, and I wear eyeglasses. They are sturdy but lightweight and will fit all types of head shapes. The microphone is nice, long, and super flexible to get just the right position, and the mic quality is crystal clear while gaming and could even be used on meetings or video voiceover, it’s really good. And when you have multiple devices connected, the switch button located on the earpiece jumps you to the next device seamlessly with no issue. The A50X headset is the new king of the hill when it comes to Dolby Atmos gaming!

    Stunning Headset with Minor Quirks

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The Logitech Astro A50X wireless gaming headset is a fantastic headset that is packed with features, while only having a few minor issues. The A50x is a wireless headset compatible with PS5/Xbox/PC/bluetooth. It features a 24 hour battery and charging base station which connects to consoles via HDMI and/or USB, and PC via USB only. Setup can vary from simple to complicated depending on how many systems you’re connecting, whether you have a receiver, etc. My setup was moderately complex, but overall not hard at all. If you want to get the full potential out of this headset, you will want to connect your PS5 and/or Xbox using the HDMI connections. It is possible, and much simpler, to just connect via USB, but you will not get the best audio quality out of your system, and on PS5, you will lose the ability to adjust mic/game volume independently. So I would suggest just going ahead and connecting up via HDMI. Keep in mind, they do not include an HDMI in the box, so you will need at least one extra high speed HDMI to connect from the base station to your TV or receiver. I really wish they had included an HDMI. It seems like an easy enough inclusion to get the full potential out of the product. Once everything is all hooked up, you do a few simple adjustments in the console settings to make sure audio is all being routed correctly. They offer both instructions and videos on their website and make it pretty simple to follow. Once you have that all set up, you use the headset itself to cycle through the different inputs. Once you turn the headset on, your console automatically switches to headset output. And once you turn it off, it automatically switches back to TV or Receiver output, which just passes through the base station straight to your tv or receiver. It is compatible with 4k 120hz signals if you use the correct cables, so you don’t have to worry about losing any kind of functionality with this headset. Now, getting to the actual sound quality of this headset, it is absolutely amazing. If you have ever used Astro A40 or A50s before, this shouldn’t come as a surprise. They are some of the best sounding headsets I have ever used. And they are quite comfortable as well. I have larger than average ears, and usually most ear cups are a bit small for me and cause irritation after too long, and thats including previous A50 models. But these new A50x, I think they slightly increased the ear cup size, because they actually fit around my ears and are much more comfortable. I can wear these for hours and my ears do not get fatigued. Overall, this is the best sounding, most comfortable headset I have ever used. Now, there are a couple of quirks that just take away from the overall experience. For one, the setup can be a bit of a hassle, but I’ve already touched on that a bit, and it definitely will vary from person to person. Second, the bluetooth integration is just OK. I almost feel like it was just thrown in to check a feature off the list. The reason I say this is because the actual bluetooth receiver is located in the base station, and not in the headset itself. This means that the headset, and your bluetooth device need to remain in proximity of the base station. So forget about using the headset as a pair of headphones for your phone outside of the house or anything. Lastly, this one is one of those small inconveniences that is small enough to not matter, but big enough worth mentioning. Let’s say you want to play a game but aren’t going to use your headset. You want to play PS5, but the last game you played was XBox. You turn your PS5 on, TV on, set everything to the correct input. Sit down on your couch, but your PS5 is not showing up on your TV. Well, then you remember that you have to use your headset (even though you aren’t using it right now) to switch inputs to PS5. So you have to get back up, go press the little input switcher on the headphones to switch to PS5. Again, small inconvenience, and one that I’m sure I will get used to over time, but for now, switching inputs using my headset is not something I actively think about, especially if I’m not planning on using my headset for this particular gaming session. It just seems like there could have been a more elegant solution to passthrough HDMI when the headset isn’t even turned on. In conclusion, the Astro A50X is a fantastic gaming headset which can be used with PS5/XBox/PC/Bluetooth. The base station acts as an HDMI splitter/switcher to make switching between sources as seamless as possible, although there are still some minor quirks with this method. Bluetooth was a questionable inclusion, but I guess it’s nice to have the option for those that would appreciate it. And most importantly, this headset features the high quality I have come to expect from Astro. It is a welcome addition to my gaming setup, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a headset that works across platforms.

I got my Astro A50 X Lightspeed gaming headset several days ago and I have really been enjoying them. I have had the good fortune to have owned several high quality headsets over the years and these are among the best I have ever used. This headset is impressive in several areas. Initial impressions were good before I even hooked it up. Construction is solid yet flexible and very comfortable. The ear pads are breathable and don’t cause me any sweating. They are also easily removable as they are held in place via magnets. I love the ones that came with the set but you can easily swap them out with a variety of aftermarket options. Overall the headphones are a bit heavy but the padding along the top strap helps. Overall they feel very solid and adjust to fit on my larger than average head perfectly. My girlfriend also has no issue wearing these, and it has to adjust down quite a bit to fit her. Buttons for volume, Bluetooth, power and adjusting modes are easy to find. The microphone is completely adjustable as it bends anyway you want. The base feels solid and looks nice as well. I plugged it in and got the headphones all charged up before I went on to the next step. Installation had a bit of a hiccup. Following Logitech Support's video I first attempted to hook up my PS5. I am an active gamer but not a tech savant at all. I got mostly complete till I was asked to change my TV to a setting it doesn’t support. However after rebooting the PS5 and turning the TV off and on it all worked. I then went to hook up my PC but it appears to hook both up as intended they need to be close enough to both plug into the base. My 2 devices are not that close so I hooked the PC up via Bluetooth and it works wonderfully. Now for the real question, how do they sound? Well I would say in a word, fantastic! The bass quickly got my attention as the first thing I heard was a bass heavy song playing thru NBA2k24 on my PS5. Sounds are crisp and clear. I have a pair of Sony headphones that have some amazing 3D spatial audio that in some ways is superior to these headphones. But overall I think I like these the best. The battery life is amazing. They claim 24 hours, and that may be true. I set them on the charging base at night but that first day I gamed all day long and they were still holding a good charge. To start using them I just pull them off the base and turn them on. The PS5 sound automatically goes thru the headphones. I turn them off and it reroutes to the speakers. Switching to the PC just requires me changing the output on the PC to the headphones. I believe if I had been able to hardwire both to the base it would work even better with just one touch of a button on the headphones. I also tested them out for taking phone calls and they really excel in this area. Very easy to hear and understand on both ends of the call. If I’m gaming on the PS5 I can just connect my phone via BT and take a call at the touch of a button. I have had zero issues thus far disconnecting during a call. All in all I love this device. Incredible sound and comfort with fantastic battery life and a clean looking charging base. They are a bit pricey but compare well with other product in a similar price range. If you are looking for some high quality headphones I would highly recommend checking these out. I would absolutely recommend these to a friend.
