Great Design Point is AC Power

This product has several important key features: Ease of setup using the phone app, weatherproof, night vision, microphone/speaker, WiFi connectivity and AC power; all being very useful. It is wired (for power) but this eliminates the need to change batteries when it is installed outdoors for example and high above your front door. You do need to get it AC power but it connects wirelessly so you don't need to run a signal wire. A lot of similar outdoor cameras require batteries so for those cameras you do need to get a ladder and change the batteries every so often. With this camera, once installed you are done. Another item of importance is the microphone. Other cameras only have video, this one has both audio and video. I do have a system of wireless battery powered security cameras but they do not have a microphone/speaker. This one fits in nicely as I could use my outdoor outlet to power it, and I can see and talk to people if I want, who are at the front door. It is a premium quality camera and I found it to be easy to use, durable (waterproof and rugged) and it adds a needed function to my security set up. It also can be used indoors of course for example as a baby monitor. I would recommend this camera as a great one for someone who wants to start out with using security cameras or someone who wants to add on to an existing system. The ease of setup, ruggedness/quality and the flexibility/functionality of this device are really first rate - and I am well acquainted with security camera systems. The phone app makes it very easy to utilize its features.

I like the cameras and iPhone App. I think it's a clean interface that is easy to use. It is fast and easy to find historical events. However, the app does not allow you to view multiple cameras at the same time. It's easy to switch, but impossible to view multiple live feeds at the same time. I have a computer on my counter to view all of my cameras so they do not fit my use case. Also the subscription costs are absurd. The fact that they link features with storage retention length is a joke.

Great Video, Audio Not So Much

I just mounted my Circle 2 outside right above my front door. It gives me a great 180 degree view of everything in real time and the HD video is excellent, but the audio is not good. I had the mic set to high and i could barely hear the person at the front door and they could barely hear me speaking to them. To be fair, I didn't test the camera indoors and I live on a busy street with traffic noise in the background so maybe the audio works better in a quiet setting, but where I have it, it was very tinny, scratchy, and faint, like you were having a conversation with someone on the moon. Also, the initial setup would not work on my tablet. The tablet paired with the camera, but the Circle app didn't recognize the camera as being paired. My tablet is an android 6.0. I reset the camera with it's reset button, tried uninstalling/reinstalling the app, nothing worked. I had to do the setup on my android 4.4 phone, it worked there. After setting up on my phone, the app did work on my tablet, not sure why it wouldn't setup on my tablet. The app is user friendly, it's very easy to call up events, but you only get 24 hours of saved events in the cloud for free, but of course you can download them. If you're going away and want to be able to see event history you need to pay a monthly fee, the amount depending on how many days of storage you want.

EXCELLENT CAMERA WITH OUTSTANDING VIDEO QUALITY

Camera was fairly easy to set up once you get going. The video quality was fantastic even in low light situations. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star rating was the audio quality could have been a little bit better, But overall it is good audio quality, Just not as outstanding as the video quality. This is a great option for a much lower cost security system. You don't need to buy a bunch of stuff you really don't need if you are just wanting to monitor a single area, And with this camera the wide angle lens covers a LOT OF AREA!!! So if you are looking for something to give you a lower cost option for video and audio surveillance then this IS the best option on the market today.

After testing the camera for over a month I am very happy of this piece of equipment. Arrive in a very compact box and setting up in your house network is a question of few minutes, just connected to electricity and directly from the app. After the installation there is a quick software upgrade that there is automatically detected (I like that there is nothing that I need to check from my side). The camera is really handy, nice setup and discret, a perfect size for not being obvious that is there. Once installed you can really see your house from everywhere with a very impresive image quality (this applies to day AND night with the low light feature). With a microphone and a speaker you can keep a conversation from anyone that is is your house. The power or the speaker is impressive, the mic is less powerful and the person should be closed to have a easy going chat. The app and the setup directly from the web allows you to control the camera and fix areas where in case of movement you can receive alerts. The camera is coming with a free subscription to a cloud storage to keep the daily recordings, after the free period, you should consider to extend the period or just using the camera as live streaming.

It covers a huge area compared to the other wireless security cameras that I have. I have this one in the house for now, but will be putting it outside at front door to use it so that I can talk to people at the door. Absolutely love the camera, but giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because I am having issues with the sound. I advise anyone that starts having feedback issues to only have microphone on mid and not on high. After putting mine on high I started to note feedback (high pitched sound) when sound is in use. Support was awesome and they are taking care of my issue with next firmware. Other than that, I am very impressed with the camera.

    Great quality but limited features?

This camera is small and high quality, video is high quality. It was easy to setup except for the initial firmware update. Be patient and just wait... it may take much longer than you expect. You do not want to be in a rush when you set this up the first time. I had to retry the "setup" process a few times and the firmware failed once but then worked well the second time. And don't worry too much if it fails to register your account the first few times... after the firmware update was complete my email and password were registered successfully. Once the camera is setup it works great! I like that it is relatively small and has a number of mounting options. The USB power cord is permanently fixed to the camera body so if the cord is not long enough for you a USB extension cable will be needed. The other end of the cable is standard USB 2.0 rectangular connector which allows for extension cables to be added. Once you have the camera and your account setup you can stream video and record video and keep the last 24 hours of recordings. Some more advanced features require a subscription which has a monthly fee.I tried to use the camera with other local software that connects to IP cameras but I was not successful. I am not sure but it looks like this camera is locked into the Logitech video service so your features will be limited unless you pay for the subscription. Again I'm not 100% sure about this but if this is true then its a downer for me. I would still recommend this camera if the limitations are not an issue for you. Overall I'm happy with the camera but feel like I should have gotten more for the price, and I do not want to pay even more for a subscription. However the camera quality and features I do get are very nice.

    Great Improvement…But Still Needs Work

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

At first glance, Logitech’s new Circle 2 seems like a huge improvement over the original Circle. First, the Circle 2 is smaller. Second, whereas the original was indoor-only, the Circle 2 is indoor/outdoor. The field of view has increased from 135 degrees, to 180 degrees (this is both good & bad). Lastly, whereas the original’s battery typically lasted 3 hours (12 hours in “power save” mode), the wireless version of the Circle 2 claims “up to 3 months”. So far, the Circle 2 appears to be a huge improvement over the original…right? Well, read on. SIDE NOTE: Regarding the wired version (such as I have), there is an optional battery pack, which (essentially) turns the wired model into the wireless model. The difference – purchase the wired version, plus the rechargeable battery, you end up spending $30 more than just purchasing the wireless version, but still end up with the same thing. Let’s start with the “good” things. Setting up the Circle 2 is extremely simple, and only takes a few minutes. Installing the Android/iOS apps, and connecting to the Circle 2 is an equally simple process. The clarity of the night vision is, to be completely honest, fantastic. Last night, with the lights out, I was playing a few games of Backgammon before going to sleep (part of my usual nighttime “routine” which helps me become sleepy), and I viewed the recorded video the following day…everything was crystal-clear. I’ve tested the video & audio streaming quality while connected to the Wi-Fi (from another room), as well as through a cellular data connection. While connected to Wi-Fi, video up to the 1080p maximum is beautiful, albeit “warped” (remember the camera has a 180degree field of view). Connecting via cellular data wasn’t as spectacular, but only due to data transmission – 720p & 360p are excellent, but 1080p experienced occasional “freezes”. Lastly, there’s the optional accessories, including the aforementioned rechargeable battery, an outdoor mount, and a window mount, with (I’m assuming) more accessories on their way. Now the “bad”…starting with those accessories. The battery pack adds $49, the window mount another $39, and the outdoor mount another $29. If you know your math, you can see how the overall costs quickly add up. Let’s say you want to mount one camera above your garage door, one mounted on the window facing your front door, and a third mounted inside the kitchen facing the back door…just purchasing three cameras (2 wireless, & 1 wired), an outdoor mount, and a window mount will set you back $645 (before taxes). For around that same price, you can purchase an 8-channel/4-camera DVR-based system, with the option to add up to an additional four cameras. Next, there’s the audio quality, which is far too low to make it truly useable. On the receiving end, using my Bluetooth headset at full volume, while the audio quality was very good, I could barely hear anything my wife was saying. Moving to the camera’s side (Logitech touts the ability to remotely speak to the person/people being viewed, such as a person at the front door, when connected to the outdoor mount), the audio quality and volume coming from the camera’s speaker is downright horrible. As in testing the video quality (as viewed from my Android-based cell phone), we tested the audio in two sessions – one via Wi-Fi, the other via cellular data, both of which provided almost identical results (which clearly indicates the “problem” is with the Circle 2, and not “cellular data limitations”). On all three, with video resolution set at 1080p, audio was of reasonable volume, but quality was bad enough that my wife could barely understand what I was saying. Additionally, there was a lot of “static” (her words, not mine). Lowering the video quality to 720p increased the audio quality, and reduced the “static”, so that my wife could better understand me…but not by much. Further lowering the video quality to 360p produced no noticeable difference (compared to the 720p setting). When…for example…viewing, and talking with, a person at your front door, what good is it if you can barely hear what the person is saying, and the person on the other end can’t understand what you’re saying? Finally, there’s Logitech’s “Circle Safe” service. It’s fantastic that they provide 256-bit AES dual-layer encryption. Unfortunately, they’re charging $10/mo (or $99/yr) PER CAMERA. If you have three cameras, that’s $30/mo (which equates to $360 annually) on the monthly plan, or $297/yr on the annual plan. Of course, signing up for Circle Safe isn’t required…but if you don’t sign up, you only have access to recorded video for 7 days…plus, at least as far as I’m aware, you don’t have the ability to download them, so, once 7 days has passed, you’ve lost that day’s video. FINAL VERDICT: I truly wanted to like the Circle 2, as I’ve greatly enjoyed Logitech products for many years. I’ve used (and currently use) Logitech keyboards, mice, Harmony remotes, speakers, gamepads, etc…and I’ve never disliked any of them. Unfortunately, the Circle 2 is a “no-go” for me. While the viewed video quality (connected via Wi-Fi & cellular data) is excellent, the extremely poor audio quality & volume ruins any reason for considering a Circle 2. There are other single-camera systems, as well as multi-camera systems (2-4 cameras), that operate similarly to the Circle 2, albeit for a lower overall cost, and with better results. Moving up, there are numerous multi-camera DVR-based systems that are of similar (or better) quality for approximately the same price, or slightly more. Because of this, I cannot recommend the Logitech Circle 2…no matter how much I wanted to, prior to receiving it. That being said…and here’s where I see the potential going…if Logitech were to take the technology behind the Circle 2 system, and package a multi-camera system, along with a DVR-based recording box (also refered to as “NVR”), then Logitech would have a huge winner. Imagine a packaging that included an Ethernet-connected DVR/NVR & 4 cameras (2 wireless, 2 wired), along with an outdoor mount & window mount…Logitech would not only have something to compete against the typical “security camera system”, but they’d have something better than other consumer-grade systems. Unfortunately, this isn’t that system. Disclaimer: This product was provided free, or at reduced cost, for the purpose of reviewing the product. Nevertheless, the above review, be it positive, negative, or anywhere in-between, is a 100% honest review, and the price paid played absolutely no part in my review.

    Decent camera, clunky interface

Upon opening the camera, I had it set up and running within a matter of just a few minutes. It's as simple as plugging it into the wall, downloading the app, and following very simple and straightforward instructions. The longest part of the process was waiting on a firmware update to download and install. Once the camera was up and running it has worked flawlessly and provides a decent view in most lighting conditions. The microphone and speaker are essentially useless in my use; seems like they were just a last minute add-on to pump up the spec sheet. I didn't care for the super-bright LED ring surrounding the camera which drew lots of unwanted attention to its presence. Toggling it off in the app did nothing at first, but after a quick power-cycle the light ultimately did turn off. While you can watch a live view of the camera at any time you'd like through the app, the only actual recording occurs when movement is detected. You can adjust the sensitivity to some level, but it's still touchy in my opinion. Trying to review recorded segments is somewhat of a pain as the interface is very clunky and you have to scroll through each "clip" to find the one you want--and they are only stored in the cloud so you have to have a decent connection to watch; there is no ability to record locally (you can download individual clips once you find the one you want). If you subscribe to the "protect" plan where you have access to 30 days of recordings, while it sounds good, is basically worthless as it would be extremely frustrating and time consuming to scroll through more than just a couple of days, even if you knew the exact date and time of the clip you wanted to review. Unfortunately, the vast limitations of the app, the inability to record locally, "motion-only" record, the worthless two-way communication, high priced "optional" mounts, and high cost of premium services with limited usefulness keep me from being able to love this camera. With a few software tweaks, this system could be great. With the limitations, I'd tentatively recommend it and encourage the interested person to fully research the pros and cons first. On a side note, the wired and wireless cameras are physically NOT the same. That is to say, you cannot add a battery pack to the wired camera to convert it to wireless, nor can you buy a wireless and place it on a wired mount if the battery were to die. Not sure why Logitech to go with this design, but making them interchangeable would be a welcomed improvement.

I got a wired one first to test it out. Set up seemed simple, but It took forever to upgrade the firmware, but it finally did and worked. I had a router that is like 20 years old so I figured that was the reason it look so long. The UI was good, the image was good; so I went and got two more of the battery powered ones. They would never connect. Next day the first camera would not wake up, reconnect, or go live. I figured it was my ancient router. Went and got a new dual band router, my throughput was great, from 13 to now over 50Mbps, even on the porch! I could never get any of the cameras to connect. It would start the connection process, then give me a message my connection was slow and time out. Numerous resets and attempts. Tried separating the 2 and 5 ghz bands to connect just to one or other as a Knowledge base article suggested, nothing. Contacted their support via email (the only option) 24 hours later did not get a real response, so returned everything to BestBuy. Would NOT recommend.

So, in a few short months I will be heading to vegas. With that being said, I've been searching for ways to keep an eye on things while away. At first I was tempted to sign up for a local provider's "home" security package which is advertised as having a free camera. Nope. Then I ran into some info regarding the Circle 2. Not only does it provide a "live" mode (as all such products should) - but it also lets you condense 24 hours down to 10-60 seconds. And then, it only shows relevant clips where someone is in the video field. It can actually recognize when a person is in view, and labels it as such. I am impressed with the quality of the video (1080, which for my use is overkill - so i have kept it at the default 720). Also, this device lets you LISTEN and TALK BACK (!!!) live. This has led to some humorous situations with our pet dog.The field of view is 180 degrees giving GREAT coverage. And did I say night-vision? Not the old fashioned "green" type, but once the light reaches a certain threshold, it is almost as if someone turns on a bright overhead light. All in all, a great product for the security minded person.

Since I am a Logitech fan, I was happy that the Circle 2 camera exist! I was in the market for a home camera system to keep an watchful eye of my apartment if I'm feeling funky for whatever reason when I'm away for a few days and this fits the bill! Very clear picture/video daylight and even at night (the night vision works really great!). Loud enough speaker so you can communicate via the Logi Circle app. Take picture(s), watch previously recorded clips and set the sensitive range for the motion sensor. This is by far the best camera angle I have ever seen on a home camera. 180 degrees! Overall... I will be looking into a wireless one and completing the setup for my place! Thanks Logi!

Bought this camera to mount outdoors but the minimum operating temperature is 14 degrees Fahrenheit . I live in the south and it still gets below that in winter. This is main reason for the lower rating. Love the 180 degree view. Only comes with one extra window tape for window mount and Logitech told us they don't sell these. Also window mount is difficult to put on and camera does not fit securely in mount. You can't control the motion sensitivity on the wired camera. Overall I liked my old Logitech outdoor camera better but it has been discontinued. Circle 2 is better than a lot of cameras

I preorder this camera with high hopes for this camera since I had previously tried a couple of others with other special/fancy capabilities such as detecting breathing, air quality, etc and none of them were able to provide everything they had promised. The setup for this camera is really easy and I was excited to see the 180 degree video that it would provide. However, the moment I turned on my app to view the view I heard this loud constant clicking noise, then I tried to open it Safari I had the same issue, then I tried Chrome and still have the the same issue. I've emailed Logitech regarding this and I haven't heard a response from them. As I've been waiting for a response I've realized that I can't turn off the LED light either (I have already updated to the latest firmware) I've been researching for a better camera, but at this point I thinking maybe just get a plain one with special features might just be the key. I would not recommend this camera for anyone who has a baby that will be bothered by light (the LED light pretty much can light up her entire crib area) or wants to be able to hear anything in the video other than a loud and constant clicking noise all the time (baby would need to be screaming bloody murder for you to hear them above the clicking noise)

I installed 2 wired cameras in my Corpus Christi vacation home with the idea that I could use them to monitor the home while away, paying the outrageous annual "premium" service fee on them . In spite of the expense, I was very pleased with them. Then Hurricane Harvey hit. The internet was down for three days. When it came back up, my Blink system reconnected and worked perfectly. The Circle 2 has remained off line. Logitech support is worthless.
