I’ve been on a pretty wild keyboard journey in the last few months. I’ve been using the Logitech wave keyboard for years and then picked up a random obsession with trying out the latest keyboards from Logitech. I tried the MX keys, pop mechanical keyboard, and the K380 keyboard (and honestly probably more I can’t think of on the top of My head). I love them all! But this ergonomic keyboard was the catch all for me. There were times where I was switching up keyboards daily, multiple times a day, weekly. Since I’ve gotten this particular model, I haven’t had to make a single switch. It’s comfortable, it’s quiet, it has the right kind of aesthetic “clackity” feel without it being obnoxious for others in the room. If the above factors in the review speak to you, hopefully this review helps your decision making! Also, this review was made after nearly a month of useage

For years I loved using the wired Microsoft Ergonomic 4000 keyboard with the Star Programmable keys that allowed me to call up favorite documents and websites without other keystrokes to find them in File Explorer or a web browser. But my 4000 died a few days ago, and I was sad to see it is no longer made by Microsoft. It has been replaced by several other models, but with without the Star Programmable keys. So I went to Best Buy and tried out five or six keyboards. The closest replacement for my 4000 appeared to be the wired Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard priced at $45. But I wanted the best keyboard I could buy, and the Logitech ERGO K860 was $130, so I figured if it cost three times as much, it must be a MUCH better keyboard. It was comfortable to use, and the back of the package said it had programmable F keys, so even it didn't have any unassigned programmable keys, I thought I could program the F keys to call up documents and websites like my Microsoft 4000 did. So I bought the K860. I hooked it up at home and tried to figure out how to program the keys. There were no instructions in the package. I went online to the manufacturer's website to download instructions, which said the function of the F keys could be changed to other choices, but did not say they were programmable. It just had a list of other commands you could change the key to perform. So for example, the F1 key, which normally brings up Word Help, could be changed to one of several other specified operations, such as printing a document, or displaying your email or calculator, etc, but there was no option to call up a specific document or perform a macro like you could do on the 4000. I called the ERGO help line to find out how to program the keys, and they said, "Sorry, you can switch the function of the F keys to the alternate listed choices, but you can't program to do something else." So I returned the ERGO to Best Buy, and got a polite refund with no questions asked. I bought the $45 Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard, which also said on the back of the package that it had programmable keys. I was please to see that indeed it in addition to the F keys, it has three more unassigned keys that are fully programmable, just like the keys on the 4000 were (although the 4000 had five of those). And this keyboard is just as comfortable to use as the ERGO at 1/3 the price! The only advantage I can see with the K860 is that it is wireless, but I prefer wired because there are no batteries to fail and a wired connection is always better than wireless. By the way, the new $45 Microsoft Ergonomic keyboard is more comfortable with better key feel than my old 4000, so I am delighted with the new Microsoft keyboard. But if you want a wireless keyboard, don't need to program your keys, and don't mind paying $130 bucks for a keyboard no better than a $45 keyboard, go for it!

Overall excellent keyboard. Due to the key layout it does take time to get used to typing on it. Your fingers have to adjust to the different distances and angles for touching a key. However, after practicing, I find the wrist rest very comfortable and typing is very effortless. One feature I wish they would add is a rechargeable battery. I bought a MX Master 3S mouse with this that is rechargeable and find that very convenient so I don't have to buy more batteries. I am still discovering all the various functions that come with this product. Very Very Satisfied with this keyboard.

This keyboard has replaced my old Logitech standard keyboard. The battery powered keyboard lasts much longer than my old rechargeable one. I am very pleased with the performance and ease of use! My hands and wrists bother me less at EOD and end of the work week.

I have really enjoyed the ERGO keyboard from Logitech. The price tag is heavy, but honestly, if you have a desk job and spend 40+ hours a week on a keyboard, it is pennies... The split keyboard is easy to adapt to and I love the built-in comfort strip. Pair this keyboard with an ergonomic keyboard and your wrists/hands will be in heaven!

Fantastic keyboard for 3 outstanding features 1. Ergonomics are just great 2. I can actually connect my office machine on USB and iMac with bluetooth and switch with just press of a button 3. Chiclet keyboard is very responsive I would have paid more for such an amazing keyboard (but maybe with backlit feature ;) )

This is awesome compared to working on conventional / mechanical keyboards for very long hours. When started using this, I've been relieved of all my arm pain, since I usually work almost 10-12 hours on my desktop. The quality is very good and durable. The sound of the keys is also pretty minimal even through you're very fast at typing. The only issue that I have with it is, the letter B is located on the left side for the left hand, whereas I usually access it with the right hand, considering that's the way I learnt it. But otherwise, it's great for software engineers and developers, who spend their day writing code.

    Takes Some Getting Used To

I've used ergonomic keyboards for years and found them mid. This one is much more comfortable than any other I have used because your hands are more vertical and more natural. The fingertips are also angled together more so that your hands, wrists, and arms are all aligned naturally. After using the other keyboards for so long, it takes a minute to get used to the new orientation but it is so worth it!

Pretty excited about this keyboard and I've only had it for a day. It feels like a chiclet keyed version of the MS Natural keyboard that I've had for years. Feels solid and well built and has a number of positioning options that make sense for those working on kitchen tables/counters and even sit/stand desks. Having the option to connect via bluetooth or USB means I can use this with my laptop without sacrificing a precious USB port and multi device connect is particularly useful in my household right now. Any new keyboard is going to come with some adjustment pain but so far the typing feels natural and responsive, no perceptible input lag. If I'm being picky, I would prefer some small indicator that the NUM Lock is engaged and I wouldn't hate for the FN key row lock to have similar behavior. If I'm actually doing work it can be annoying forgetting that the function keys are in "fun" mode instead of my carefully chosen macros. I'm also struggling with the location of the print screen button which is seemingly huge and right where my reflex backspace stabbing hits it.

The keyboard is well-constructed and has a solid feel, I haven't noticed any significant flex in the body of the keyboard while using it on my lap, a use case for which it works rather well, better than most full-sized keyboards I've used in this way. Pairing and switching between 3 different devices was easy, and the board has worked equally well with my PCs and Android smartphones. Toggling between standard F1-F12 function keys and Logitech special functions (multimedia keys) is as simple as pressing the FN key and the Escape key. The keyswitch action is smooth, there is a bit of tactile response (typical of scissor switch mechanisms), but it's not at the same level as high-end mechanical keyswitches, most commonly used on higher-end gaming and programming keybaords. This is a great ergo keyboard. The only improvements I can suggest would be Cherry MX keyswitches and backlighting, but if neither of these are important to you and ergonomics is, there's a good chance that you'll like this unit.

Better than I thought having to compete my form MS 4000 Comfort Keyboard. This ERGO K860 does not disappoint and I actually like much better and the big plus is wireless connection, which my former MS 4000 lacked. The keys are very comfortable and I actually like much better than the MS 4000, which was a surprise for me. I like that it has it's own USB dongle so no worry about having an installed operating system for the keyboard to work such as getting into the BIOS at computer startup. Also, they really nailed the comfort level with this keyboard and can do work without any strain. Really like this purchase and definitely would recommend.
