Ball starts "hanging up" or feeling like its moving through mud or something. The sensors probably could use a bit of cleaning, but you cannot take the ball out to reach the sensors. Older wired trackballs have this functionality.

The M575's trackball does come out of the mouse but it does take some effort due to the magnets in the mouse to hold the ball in.
