You obtain all the models for all your equipment (TV, Blu-Ray player, etc) and enter them in once connected to a computer - not to mention you create an account. Other then the annoying setup, the remote works wonderfully - once on live TV, pressing "watch a movie" immediately switches input and powers on your blu-ray player. This has been an amazing tool for my grandparents!!

Logitech Harmony universal remotes the best!
