    Great Remote for the Price

I've been using this remote for about a year. I purchased it from BB during a sale and I have been very pleased with it. I love turning on the DVR, TV Monitor and Home Theater Receiver with the press of one button to watch TV. I can watch a Blu-Ray or listen to music with the press of one button too. The setup was easy if you are familiar with how your equipment has been setup. The only time I have experienced problems with it was when the batteries are low. I use rechargeable batteries so I always have some handy. I still have all my old remotes but rarely ever use them. This is a great product and is worth every penny I paid for it.

The last remote you'll ever buy.

I bought this remote on Black Friday for $39. It's worth every penny. I had recently purchased a home theater system: four devices from four manufacturers. Properly programmed, this device controls them all, actuating any function I could think of wanting. It commands specific functions of different devices with different buttons, and doesn't make you switch between the devices as most multi-device remotes require. The Harmony 650's programming software lets you select the make/model of your components and assigns its most-used functions automatically, but it also has a receiving antenna that can read the IR signal from another remote, save it, and assign it to one of its own buttons or a menu item on its LCD screen. The Harmony 650 is as easy to program as a remote this powerful could possibly be, but I won't kid you: it's not easy. The remote connects to a PC via USB cable. The PC has to download the connecting software from the Logitech website, and if you're trying to do this on Christmas morning, well, good luck to you. The software has multiple screens for selecting your components and for pre-programming its "activity" buttons (e.g., "watch TV"). None of this is impossible, but it is by no means a remote you can unwrap and start using. The battery life seems to be short; I had to replace its batteries after only a month. The LCD screen and key backlighting only comes on when a button is pushed, but this still takes a lot more juice than a standard remote control.

I compared all the harmony remotes and found that this one was the most useful to the average person who wants to consolidate remotes. We went from 5 to one and the set up is so easy. Highly recommended.

    Truly a UNIVERSAL Remote

The Logitech 650 Universal Remote is fantastic. You can throw away all your remotes because this remote incorporates the 'special functions' of other remotes making them obsolete. Further, what makes this remote great is that you get help as you use it if a function is not working propery. Tis remote does it all. The 650 operates 5 devices which should suffice for most people. Take your time, to buy, it is on sale often so do not pay regular price, but DO BUY IT ! ....... You will not be disappointed.

    Nice Programmable Remote

I bought this remote to replace a Sony programmable, universal remote that I had used for several years. Programming was much easier and less cryptic (as expected) on this one. My 'Watch TV 'and 'Watch a DVD' programs work fine. It has buttons to display the menus from my Comcast cable and they are as easy to step through and use as on the cable remote. My only minor complaint is that the 650's power button is really tiny which seems odd for a button that you use every time you turn off the system.

I've been on a quest for a universal remote that actually works and doesn't cost more than some of the devices that I want to control. So, I went in to the store looking for the Harmony 300, but they were out. However, the 650 was on sale, so I picked it up. Boy am I glad I did. Setup was a breeze by plugging the remote in to my computer and using the online setup tool. I just entered the brand and model number of each device I wanted and it just worked. The "actions" are what really make this thing shine for my wife. She just presses "watch apple tv" and it does the rest. Nice job Logitech!

Works great. I have 8 different devices programmed into one remote and can control each one. Activities allow for automation which is really nice and makes turning multiple devices on and off easier by pressing one button.

Got this remote for my parents after owning a Harmony One. The remote works great, but the software Logitech uses for it wouldn't sync unless I unplugged all the other USB ports.

    Easy to setup

Having setup many of the old style of remotes, this Logitech on-line setup is easy. If you have trouble, the phone help was easy to use too. I setup my sister's $40 remote but her computer would not work with the Logitech web site.(It will not work with IE8 & Windows 2000) so I used our laptop. But I called to find out why. I used FireFox & it worked & set her up on her computer. You have software on your computer & on the web site to setup the Harmony remotes. Then few months later I purchased my Harmony 650, added my devices & setup my activities and everything worked like a charm. My computer OS is Win7 Home-/64bit with IE9. Later I purchased a newer HDTV & internet Blu-ray player because the older TV developed a power supply problem, so I setup my new devices again & it is so much faster & simplier. Logitech believes in the KISS principle: - keep it simple, stupid! BUT: The harmony remote operates the devices ok, but my new Sony TV would switch to the TV speakers rather than my 500 watt amplifier after it was turned on. I later found you must disable all the HDMI functions in all the devices, but no one seemed to know this at Best Buy Geek Squad or Sony. I re-read all the equipment manuals & understood why because of the HDMI handshake between equipment which will operate functions by its self after the Harmony turns on the power. You don't need to automate your devices thru the HDMI fuctions, let the Harmony do the work.

    Great value multidevice remote

I purchased a Harmony 700 a couple months ago, which was my first universal remote purchase in several years. The 700 gets a 5-star rating, as I've been very happy with the ease of programming (IMO, Harmony's online app is great), ability to easily customize buttons and backlit keypad. The 650 was on sale recently and since the 700's charging capability wasn't critical, I grabbed it for basement equipment. I just finished setting up 5 devices (Sony TV, Sony BD, old Pana DVD/CD, Yamaha AV unit and a basic Cisco DTA). Contrary to other reviews, Harmony provides for profile creation of several remotes, which is very handy. The only reason for a 4- vs 5-star rating for the 650 is that there is a bit of a lag during power up, esp. when several devices and setting adjustments are made, whereas the 700 is very fast. This is not a huge deal and there is minimal latency once things are up and running. Overall, I strongly recommend the 650 (and 700, though I believe its discont'd) based on my initial experiences.

    Great universal remote

This universal remote is definitely among the best, and its price makes it affordable to most consumers. I got this on Black Friday 2011 for around 35 bucks and my family loves it. Setting it up was fairly simple. You have to connect it to your computer and run some software, and it walks you through the steps of finding your devices and creating "activities". The activities is what really sets this remote apart from other universal remotes (not including other Harmony remotes). Basically, you can set up an activity for whatever you like - such as to play Wii. So, you can pretty much push a button and it will turn on your tv, set it to the right input, turn your cable box off since you arent using it, set your surround sound to the right channel, etc. All of which you program how/what it should do. I am pretty tech savvy so it was easy for me to use right away. My wife isn't nearly as tech savvy as I am but she figured out how to use it very quick. My only complaint is that sometimes you get lost in the menus and you have to go through a couple steps just to get back to where you want to change the volume on the tv (because you have to have the remote set on the correct activity or device). Also, what is nice is that you can have several menus of controls that you can program in to the remote. For example, my original TV remote has an input button to toggle through the different inputs which can make it time consuming to switch to a different one. On the Harmony, I can set each individual input individually so that I can jump directly to a certain one with just one push of a button. Overall, I would recommend this remote to anyone! A few devices I have programmed are Apple TV, LG LCD TV, Toshiba DVD player, Comcast cable box.

It's easier to use than others say

I replaced a Harmony 300 with this unit. Got is on sale on black Friday. I love that this remote replaces five others. Others have said that this is not user friendly, did not get assistance from Best Buy etc. The set up might take a couple minutes to get the hang of but once you do it is EASY! Setting up the equipment is very very easy. Just make sure you have Manufacturer and Model numbers. Instead of just doing basic on/off, controlling one item at a time, Activities rock! Switching between Satellite, Blu Ray, Wii etc took four or five steps on the Harmony 300. It takes just one button now. At first the remote may not get everything in the activity at once, the Help will fix it and the remote learns as it goes. You will need the assitant less and less. You can program extra functions/buttons from your OEM remotes, move buttons where they work for you. And the back lighting is sweet, For less than $60 bucks you get an awesome remote capable of replacing six others. Also, if you have to replace remote for some reason you don't have to go through the headache of setting everything up again. Just open the web browser assistant or the desktop software, plug in and sync. The only thing I wish was different is being able to have more than one remote under a single email account.

We couldn't operate all of our devices with one remote. We explored several options and the Harmony remote best fit our needs. I believe this remote can do MUCH more than we are asking of it. The Harmony does seem to miss some commands occasionally but it is easily fixed using the help feature incorporated into the remote.

    Excellent Remote

I was looking for a universal remote that would control all my main devices (TV, Roku, cable box, DVD player, A/V receiver). The Harmony 650 was perfect. I got it on sale (Black Friday) so I was more than willing to try it. It was a breeze to setup (you do need a computer with a USB port). It works flawlessly most times. But when it does not power off your devices or power them on in the right sequence, the "Help" feature resolves it. My only "wishlist" item for the Harmony 650 is that there was a one button option of each device, instead of having to scroll through the menu. Otherwise, it's a great product that I would highly recommend.

Overall very good value for the money. Took a little jockeying to setup correctly but not much more difficult than other remotes. You have to be in line of site like other reviews say. Our dogs will block the signal if they are in front of the component. Also our cat knocked it off the table and the battery clip compressed and I had to pry it open to get it to work again. No other issues and everyone has commented on how easy it is to use.

    This Remote is Amazing!!!

The Logitech Harmony 650 Remote is amazing. It took me a few hours to program it right, in the same day I brought it home. But when I finally programmed it correctly the 5 different electronic components work exactly like I want them to. I’m so glad to put away the other 5 remotes for just this one. The computer transfer set-up was very easy also. I especially like being able to teach the 650 Remote to recognize 1 component that wasn’t in the Logitech catalog of electronics. The Remote-To-Remote transfer was fast and efficient. If you want to get rid of all those remotes and replace it with just one, the Logitech Harmony 650 Remote is the best buy for the dollar because it can easily manage all of your electronics. You don't have to pay the higher prices to get a great working remote.

bought this at local best buy for 99.99 wich is reasonable for this remote. Setup was a sinch and in no time was running my home theater. It will control up to six devices wich was plenty for me. I use it to control my panasonic 3d tv, panasonic3d blu ray player, pioneer elite reciever, AT&T set top box, xbox 360, as well as some actions on my pc. It does require some testing and retooling at first but the logitech software makes it easy.

I've been using the Harmony series of remotes for years. If you only have eight devices to control this is a solid unit. Be prepared to do some tweaking of timing if you plan to use different TV outputs on activities.
