I have had the unit for over a month now. It works great. It runs my Optoma projector, Yamaha A/V unit, HD Cable box, and LG Blu-Ray player without any problems. Set up was very easy it does take about 30 - 45 mins to complete set up, but it is worth it. This thing works flawlessly!! I recommend this unit to anyone who has a home theater with multiple devices.

Overall this is a great remote for the money. You simply press one button when you wish to watch a movie, and your TV, DVD player and stereo turn on at once! Same goes if you wish to watch TV, your stereo and cable box turn on at the same time. Other nice features are included such as if you wish to listen to music you can easily turn down the volume on the other components and crank up your stereo. Overall, a great buy for the money. I actually have 5 devices universally hooked up. I recommend this Harmony remote.

    Amazing Remote

This remote is awesome. The set up was extremely easy and fast, and I can't believe how reasonably priced it was. We went from 5 remotes laying around our family room to just 1. I love the backlit buttons. So easy to see in the dark. Also has a motion sensor that automatically turns on the remote display when you pick it up. Great device and very reasonably priced. I would highly recommend this device.

Picked up this universal remote so my family would not have to sift through a multitude of remotes. Worked great so I purchased another! They are used for TV/surround sound receiver/blu-ray/cable box. So far so good. Only issue I have is when turning on to 'Watch TV' on my Smart TV it does not go directly to the cable station but to a selection of stations and apps. Clicking 'Help' fixes this issue but a tad-bit annoying. This remote was quite easy to set up to work with the other electronics.

Makes controlling all items in your entertainment system from one remote simple. Set up through a computer is simple and allows you to program your system to turn on or off, all of the devices at the touch of one button. I would absolutely recommend this remote!

With a Little Patience It Works Great

For several years I have looked for a universal remote that would control my four devices that I use in both my living room and my bedroom: a DirecTV DVR, TV, DVD and AV Receiver. I became interested in Logitech’s Harmony 650 after seeing Best Buy’s Black Friday ads which included the 650 for $39.95. I figured that if it did not accomplish all the functions I wished, I could always return it for a full refund so I kept all the packing material. Before I purchased the unit I read 15 or 20 reviews of the product on several web sites including CNET and Best Buy. In all cases the device was highly rated (4 to 5 stars) however several persons suggested that the setup required a person to be somewhat of a “techie,” and that the online setup was somewhat lacking. Several reviewers suggested that it would take around an hour to get the unit working properly with the help of Logitech’s customer service. I have been around computers and electronic devices for more than 30 years so those statements did not turn me off so I decided to purchase the Harmony 650. I finally got around setting up the device around a week ago and found out that the reviewers were indeed correct but left out one thing: the documentation included with the unit Is sparse hence I found the online setup somewhat lacking. Even with my previous experience, the initial setup took around an hour with the help of a Logitech customer service tech. With there help I was able to control all of the devices in my bedroom however it took around a week to figure out and remember what all the button functions were for each device. After a week I found out that I was missing one function on my TV and AV receiver that I felt was extremely important to me…the sleep timer function. Some people use a book to help them go to sleep however, I can turn on the TV, roll over and fall to sleep in 10 minutes but to stay asleep I need to turn off the video from the TV and the audio out of AV receiver. The sleep timer was so important to me that if I was unable to program the sleep timer functions I had decided that I would return the Harmony 650 to Best Buy for a refund. I looked for clues in the unit’s documentation on how to program the sleep timer function into the 650 without success so I used incident number given to me by Logitech and called them back. It took another 45 minutes for the customer service to add the sleep timer function to the remote but in the end he was able to add the sleep timer function to both devices. I am now “one happy camper” with one remote instead of four different remotes scattered all over my bed. Would I recommend the Harmony 650? My answer to that question is definitely a yes and plan to purchase another 650 for my living room. However, I would warn people that purchase the unit not to get frustrated setting up the device. With a little patience and help from Logitech the unit will perform as advertised and for only for that reason I give the unit 4 stars instead of 5.

easy to use, no extra buttons. all of my devices, tv, sound bar, blue ray player, are controlled with just one remote! worth every penny. i paid an extra $50 to have the geek squad program it while they were here. it took him less than 5 minutes. it was worth the money to me because i have no time to program it but it may be an easy set up. it is a lite sleek design, it looks and feels good. the only negative is that it burns up batteries. plan on changing them once a month. again worth every penny!

This remote was so easy to set up. I purchased it today April 9, 2017 and got it on sale from 79.99-48.99 saved 31.00. Well I set up all my devices and it only took like 20 minutes. I went from 6 remotes to 1 remote that does it all!!! I am even able to customize my remote to the actually name of my devices. All I can say is Buy this remote, it was the best choice that i ever made. Thank you Best Buy for such an excellent product.

Good - but watch out for 5 device limitation

I already own two Harmony Ones and swear by them in terms of ease of use, flexibility and general usefulness. When I saw the 650 on offer prior to Black Friday the price made this too good to pass up...but.... The Harmony is constrained to only control 5 devices (to be fair, it clearly says so on the description and documentation). The issue is that if you consider a minimal home theater setup, you will have a TV set, Audio Receiver, BluRay player and Cable TV box as a minimum, and will also likely have other devices such as a game console, A/V switch, secondary disk player, etc. The upshot is that you will quickly hit the 5-device limit, at which point you will be unable to control all of your devices (and will want to buy a Harmony One) In short, if you are sure that you will not need to control more than 5 devices, this looks like a winner, but please count them carefully to make sure you didn't miss anything (like I did!) Also note that in order to program this device you will need to use your PC to access a website to manage this, but I have been doing so for years and this is no big deal.

    Great Remote

Great device, for me the set up was long, but this was why: I have my TV power cable connected to my cable box, so if the Box is turned on the TV turns on, and the same to turn it off. Well the remote wants to turn the TV on about the same time it turns on the Box. So I had to change the order in which the remote turns on each device, but this step is not a part of the initial set up. Its actually after you finish that you see each Activity and can select the Settings for each Activity. I do believe the set up time would have been about 20 minutes less if it was. Another thing is this option to change what turns on first must be done for each Activity, so for my play video game activity I also had to be sure the cable box went on before the TV and you can actually set a delay when the signal to the TV is sent after the box is on (but again not part of the initial set up). Once done this thing worked great.

With the incredible number of "universal remotes" on the market today, it's great to see one of them bubble to the surface that really delivers. I've had many Logitech remotes over the years, but this one has really been refined well. Finally, a button layout that not only makes sense, but has great tactile action as well. This remote can control virtually any component and has as many tweaks and additions to the controls as you want to add. Setup is really easy and you can be ready to go in a matter of minutes. The Favorite Channel feature is nice. You can program in up to about 26(?) of your favorite channels and even show icons for the stations (ABC, CBS, HBO, etc).

    Remote for Idiots

Where have you been all my life? This is an awesome device. The set up is almost stupid proof and I completed the process in about 15 minutes. You literally put your remotes next to the Logitech and it syncs automatically. The software is very intuitive. I think a six year old could set this up. I love the favorite channels settings. Turning all five devices on with one button is great. The screen is motion sensitive so it lights up as soon as you pick it up. It mirrors my DISH remote exactly which with DVR I was unsure it would. Did I say it only costs $50 at Best Buy? Oh, and the device trouble shoots with a click of a button if something goes wrong. I will hurry on over to Best Buy and get two more remotes for other rooms in the house. Cheers

I bought this remote because I was tired of having four different remote controls for my entertainment system. My cable box remote wouldn't control my blu-ray player, and could only control the volume on my av receiver. This remote controls al of my components, and the set up was a breeze. The initial set up was easy with the downloaded software, and as I use it more I am able to customize the buttons to suit my needs. So far I have only positive things to say about this remote.

I only just got this, so I'm not sure about long-term issues, durability, battery life, but my first impressions of the Logitech Harmony 650 are positive. The unit is compact, about the same size as all my other device remotes. It has a nice, small color LCD screen, which activates when the unit is picked up, and goes off when put down, a nice feature. Setup, via the MyHarmony site/software, was as easy as it can get. Type in the make and model of each device, describe how they're connected, and configure the basic functionality for default activities such as "Watch TV," "Watch a Movie," "Listen to Music," or custom activities you can define yourself. Within minutes, I was able to turn on my DVR, TV, and surround sound system and control each with their respective controls. This is my first experience with a universal remote, and I have to say that for my fairly basic home theater setup, it seems the Harmony 650 will really do the job, with little effort. It's nice to be able to put away the little army of remotes that littered the coffee table.

This remote never fails. Easy to set up and so easy to use. My mother who has zero knowledge and ability with items of this kind knows how to operate it and trouble shot any issues that might occur. Was able to turn turn 4 remotes into 1 plus the gaming system. Highly recommend this remote for anyone who is tired of losing there remotes under the couch or constantly changing batteries or whats the luxury of have just one remote for all the TV entertainment needs.

    Great universal remote introduction

Purchased at Black Friday price of $39.99. Extremely easy to setup out of the package. Navigated to the MyHarmony site mentioned in the paperwork received with the device and setup my account. I did not have the recommended browser plug-ins (SilverLight) but the page had links to them and with a quick refresh everything worked. I originally had the controller connected to my USB but had to disconnect to get it to recognize, this is normal with most USB devices as they typically want you to connect them at the correct point of configuration. The setup of devices was simple. All the devices I added were found with the exact model numbers from the devices with zero troubles. The activity setup (Watch TV, Watch Apple TV, Play Music, etc.) that I setup all worked flawlessly. It allows you to choose each device that is a part of the activity and set the correct inputs, etc. I only setup one Apple TV device, but we have two in the house, and the remote worked just fine for both. I did have to setup the second TV (which maxed out my 5 devices), but all worked fine. My only qualms with this remote is the 5 device max and the USB connectivity for update activities, etc. I bought the device knowing those limitations because of the great price point.

    Overall happy

I must be happy with this remote as I have three of them. Once they are set up and you know their quirks the other remotes go in a drawer. Set up can be a pain if you have to teach it a command but being honest I never spent more than a few minutes doing setup. On my last purchase I bought two for use in our living room. I set the first on up and then thought I should be able to set a second one up by copying the set up to the second unit. I couldn't find a way and had to set up a new account for the second unit and go through the exercise again. One warning - if you are going to have dueling remotes they both must be in the same state, i.e. both must have the same activity active. So if one turns of 'watch tv' the other one must do the same but block the signal from getting to the controlled units. This happens as each unit remembers the state of the system it implemented and the second unit does not automatically synch. This for a while lead to many frustrated questions from the spouse as to why doesn't this remote work. For some reason the one in the second room doesn't always turn off the satellite receiver with the 'turn off all' button. When it doesn't pressing the help button turns it off. Of the universal controllers I have used this one works and its firmware is upgradeable.
