Like many people I have an HDTV, cable HD DVR, AV receiver, and Blu-ray player. Recently, I added the Boxee Box to watch Internet video and to listen to music. The ottoman in front of the couch is littered with remotes. I had hoped this remote would replace them all and make it easier for my partner to use the media system. The remote was easy enough to set up. You download an app from Logitech and use your notebook to identify the devices and then the activities like "Watch a Movie". The problem is, the remote cannot overcome the fact that my TV, receiver and cable box all switch on and off with the same command. The first time my partner used the remote the receiver didn't come on. Since the HDMI from the cable box routes through the AV reciever nothing appeared on the TV. While the little screen on the remote tries to overcome this by prompting "Did everything work?", it didn't matter. The Harmony remote was quickly handed back to me to fix the problem. Problem is, about 50% of the time at least one device doesn't turn on, or worse it was already on and it gets turned off. This is thoroughly frustrating and now, sadly, the Harmony has joined the other remotes on the ottoman and not generally used. Next piece of AV gear I buy will include a check to see if it has separate on and off buttons.

As with most of the Harmony remotes, set-up and use is really easy. Just hook it up to the computer and tell it what devices you have. The only down-side to this remote, is that it's a little bit large and chunky. This remote is smarter than some previous models and it was able to figure out that my TV needs some extra time when powering on before changing inputs (although, as with previous versions of the software, it ignored that setting.)

This is a good universal remote. The internet connection wizard works okay, but it takes about 2 hours (I'm an experienced tech) to get everything right. Keep in mind you can't customize the order of the custom screens. If you want that feature, you'll have to move up to a higher, more expensive model. All in all, once it is set up, it works very well. I really like the auto on display feature that lights up when you touch the remote.

This took a little effort at first to set up. But after finally getting it to program properly, it works great. It takes some forethought on how you want to set it up. In general, my thumb doesn't have to travel all over the remote, I like the fact that it comes to life when you pick it up, and if you're looking for one of those fancy-schmancy remotes like the big dogs have, this one is adequately priced for the regular joe-schmoe.

Great price, easy setup and excellent functionality. I especially like how it stores your settings on their remote servers. A low risk, high reward solution for simplifying to one remote control.

Easy to program and was able to take us from 4 remotes to 1 with little to zero issue! Samsung 55 inch tv, Harmon Kardon receiver, Samsung BluRay 3d player and DirectTV Genie.

Great universal remote very easy to use and very reliable. This remote is well worth the money . Especially easy for my wife who does not like anything technical .

I thought when I ordered this that I would still need the other remotes for some functions to work, but I was wrong! It took maybe 15 min tops to program it. Write down all of your makes and model numbers then plug it in, install two programs then start adding your devices. You can also program in special features like auto change the input to turn on like the dvd and start playing with one button. Once it's programmed you are good to go! And it does everything all of the other remotes did! I would highly recommend this to everyone! I'm just mad I didn't order more for gifts at the black Friday sale, I know I would have made a lot of people happy too!

Over all, this is a great remote. I love the added blue tooth capability for use with the Wii. The setup is as easy as can be (the main reason this remote rocks!) However, I Prefer the layout and screen setup of the previous versions. This version only lets you see 2 activities on the screen at a time (instead of 4) so you have to push next to get to the other 2 activities. They offset that by making the most common activities as individual buttons, but I would have preferred more soft keys to allow custom naming of the activities.

At around $60 the 650 delivers exactly what I wanted - eliminating 5 remotes and simplifying home theater operation. Set up took about an hour. The web-based program is OK for those with a simple system of tv, cable, dvd, blu-ray and sound system. I understand the down-loadable program offers more customization, but if all you want is the basics, the web-based program worked just fine. I followed the tutorial and after a few tweaks, the remote was doing everything as advertised. This is the best universal remote I have ever had.

The lower end of the Harmony line, now discontinued. Buttons are a bit touchy

This is a truly remarkable device! After suffering decades of aggravation with my now up to four remotes this thing is a sanity saver. Hardest part of process is determining model numbers of devices to be controlled. Once that is done, you program the device through an on-line connection in which you are querried as to what is to be done with each device when you are watching TV, a DVD, etc. No codes to enter! Highly recommended. I did have to call customer support when it appeared not to work. You have to wait for an on-screen tutorial to complete before it can be used.

I like that Harmony new my TV, DVD players and DVR. But they do not know my new LG home theater. I was still able to teach the remote what I needed. The problem I had is getting the TV to switch inputs, my TV needs a few seconds to accept commands after turning on. So the Harmony remote is not able to change the TV input for me when I select say Cable or DVD. I can do it manually but not with one button. I have been in contact many times with their customer support and they could not get it to work either.

After many heartaches of trying different remote controls, the Harmony 650 solved 99% of my problems. Once I got the software issue figured out, the rest was a breeze. It even has its own troubleshooting mode while you're doing the intial testing. It automatically corrects mistakes! I'm very impressed.

This remote is easy to setup. It worked great with my setup and can control my TV, blueray player and sound bar.

Got this to replace a lost remote control in the living room. Know two people that have Harmony remotes and they are happy with them so I decided to get one. Glad I made that choice, I am very happy with it. Some reviews I read some reviews that stated they had problems setting it up, I had mine set up in about 10 minutes. I like the way it knows what device does what for the different activities. Watching TV it turns on the TV, Cable Box, Receiver and changes the output on the Receiver and you don’t have to change a device on the remote to adjust volume or change a channel, it knows which device to use. I plan to buy another one for my den.

Took me a while to figure out how to set everything up as activities. I downloaded the Logitech Harmony app after having a HORRIBLE experience with the web app (uses Silverlight, ugh!). Once I got everything set up right, it's been smooth sailing. I have noticed a few times it exits an activity on its own and then if you go back to it, it tries to change inputs, etc. So I just cover the IR transmitter until it's "done". Overall, I love the remote and don't plan on ever going back to a regular universal remote EVER!

This is my second Harmony remote. I had one in the living room already and this one is for the man cave. I had 3 device remotes previously. One for the projector, one for the cable box and one for the surround sound system. Setup is done online, it is extremely easy and walks you through every step. One button turns on/off everything (before I had to use all 3 device remotes). Programmable to do different things (watch a movie, watch TV), the programming turns it automatically to the inputs you need with just one button. I cannot stress enough how much I love these remotes. Get one, you will not regret it.

This device controls a DVD player, flat screen TV, receiver, Directv HD DVR and Apple TV. This device is so simple that my elementary school kids can operate the entire system. Apart from the fact that this device makes sure every piece of equipment is set to the right input or output it is also very easy to set up online. No more looking up numerical codes in thick manuals and then missing a step and starting all over again.

I bought a Samsung sound bar and nothing would control it so I had to use its remote for just volume which is unacceptable. I bought the Harmony 650 and it worked perfectly. Super easy to set up and incredibly customizable. While some people talked about it taking a little while to setup that is only because you can customize it so much that you spend time setting it up perfectly for your varying uses. It was time well spent because again it was really easy so while you may spend some time it won't be time spent frustrated and hating life. Just the opposite. You'll keep finding better and better things it can do. In logitech's support section they even give a website they recommend to download icons to use for your favorite channels. So I downloaded icons for my favorite channels such as ESPN and HGTV. Now from my remote I can scroll through icons to pick the channel I want. Brilliant! The only thing I'm upset about is the fact I waited this long to get one. Get one now and with one remote control everything. Don't hesitate, just buy it. You won't regret it.
