True all in one!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am skeptical for a long time to switch to harmony remote until I got tired of using three remotes just to watch a movie. I would give it 5 stars but there was no instructions included in the remote so to learn how to use it, I have to play with it or visit their web site. Once the learning curve is done, this device is wonderful! This is a great add on to my home entertainment set up.

Just What I Needed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was really getting tired of switching remotes back and forth so I needed a solution. This remote certainly is the answer. Setup went relatively smooth after I disabled my firewall so that the remote could connect to the internet. Be sure to have your model numbers ready and you will have no real problems. Plus, read the manual. It helps!

Just get it!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So glad I bought this model. The 650 is plenty for a room where you have a TV, theatre system, cable box, blu ray and even a gaming system. It took me longer to get the model information from my devices than it did to set up the activities on the remote. For the price this is just as good as the higher priced models from Logitech.

Very good remote and great price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First I wonder if three has been some modifications since some of the reviewers below since the batteries on mine fit nice and tight, so no issues there. Did have some issues "registering" on the web site and downloading the set up software. Its not very clear what you need to do where on the first couple of screens. But the set up for my devices was pretty straightforward. Did have to look around to find where my cable box was located as that is not obvious either. I have it working the Toshiba TV, a Samsung soundbar, cable box and roku player. all the functions seem to work pretty well. Can adjust volume but cant mute when have it set to cable box, (even though the cable box remote will mute). To mute have to go to soundbar controls. Have no idea how to set up the colored buttons on the remote, what they are for, what they can do. Nothing seems to explain that that I have seen. Also, I have "Watch TV" working (turns on soundbar, tv, and cablebox) and watch movie working (turns on tv, soundbar, and dvd player) but when i try to set up the "other functions" choice it says i have already reached my maximum number of devices -- but i dont want to add a device, just set up a new combo (tv, soundbar, roku) Only other issue is when I hit the "all off" button it usually does not turn off the soundbar the first time. So its not perfect, BUT for less than $50, its a great buy.

great remote, easy to program
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this remote b/c I was tired of buying rechargeable batteries for the old remote on my professionally installed media system. I thought it was going to be a headache to get macros programmed. It could not have been easier. In 45 minutes, the remote was controlling my tv, av receiver, satellite box, and dvd player, including macros. You do not need to be tech savy to make this work. I would definitely recommend this to a friend. I cannot yet comment on durability since it is only 2 weeks old.

No better way to consolidate remotes
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 5th Harmony remote. I have 3 in my home and one at my mom's and at my sisters. Amazing how many fewer calls I get that they can't get their system to work! There is no better way to consolidate remotes. Be aware when you purchase that Logitech prices differently depending on how many devices the remote supports. If you have a TV, DVD/BluRay, cable box, and video game -- you are already at 4 units. Also, some units require an extra piece of equipment (e.g., if you want the Harmony to control the PS3, you need a special device for the PS3); and some units count as 2 (e.g. a receiver with an iPod dock will take one unit for the receiver and a 2nd for the iPod dock.) Desktop application allows you to enter model/serial number for all of your units, then gives you set-up wizards for each activity (Watch TV, Watch DVD, etc.) The Wizards generally get all of the basic steps correct, but I have had to play with the timings (e.g., "power on" for the receiver is immediately followed by source selection for the receiver, but the receiver takes a couple of seconds to get fired up and ready to receive the source selection command; only requires a timing adjustment, which is simple enough, but it is frustrating when it doesn't work right away.) All in all, there is a reason I've bought 5 of these units -- they work wonderfully, are very durable, and very flexible. Highly recommende.

Finally get rid of all those other remotes!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second Harmony 650. I bought the first one after trying to find the DVD player remote for a week and I was amazed at how simple this device is to setup and use. Once the setup is done the remote just works. If it gets knocked off the coffee table it will sometimes forget what mode it is in but the built in help quickly fixes things and you're back to channel surfing. If you have more than five devices, go ahead and step-up the Harmony ladder, these remotes rock!

Good device - given the horrible "remote jungle"
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had problems with the web application switching from the Harmony 300 to the Harmony 650. Once resolved, the application did a commendable job of enabling the remote to control a Panasonic TV, a Panasonic Bluray/DVD, a Motorola Cable Settop Box, a Yamaha AV/Reciever, and an audio feed from a laptop computer docking station - primarily Pandora. I wasn't able to use the standard remote buttons to control submenu selections for the Bluray/DVD. Selecting these submenus required changing from the top-level "Actions" interface to a lower-level "Devices" interface in which the user selects from a list of cryptic function names. Logitech tech support confirmed that this level of grubbiness is necessary - that Bluray DVD submenus can't be programmed to be controlled with the standard remote buttons. (It still seems that direct control from some arrow buttons should be possible, but ...) After using the Harmony 300 then the Harmony 650, I would definately recommend the 650 over the 300, even if the number of devices to be controlled is low enough to be handled by the 300.

Easy to use ... Not so easy to setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first Harmony remote and it's a pretty steep learning curve but after playing with the software for an hour or two it all seems to make sense. It took some time to work out HDMI inputs for my Insignia Plasma TV but that also makes sense after playing with the software some. Operation is dead easy once configured. I have it configured for: Dish Sat Box (model # VIP-722) Insignia 42: Plasma TV (model # NS-42P650A11) Blu-ray (model # BD-570 + wireless for Netflix) Home Theater (model # Durabrand HT-400) All components work well together with this remote once it's configured properly.

Ends the remote control clutter
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I hated all the remote control clutter (7 remotes). I was able to creatively program the Harmony 650 to control 7 devices even though officially it only supports 5 devices. Logitech has a winner in the Harmony 650. I can now turn on my TV, turn on my soundbar, turn on my Blue Ray and select NetFlix all with a single button press. WOW, what a cool thing to be able to do. Before the Harmony 650, it would have taken seven button pushes on three different remotes.

Nice Remote
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The best thing about this remote is that i don't have 5 remotes around anymore and it was able to communicate with all of my components. You do have to have some computer skills to set it up and it's also easier if you have a lap top so your not running back and forth to the desk top.Down loading can be a problem at times and you might have to disable the fire wall to get it to work.

Truly an all in one at a reasonable price.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was probably me but my set up of this remote did not go as well as most people posted. I did figure it out though and total set up time was less than 20 minutes. That is the only thing I have to say negative about this remote and it's not that negative! I also picked up the PS3 adapter so now all of my components are truly run by one remote. All my old controllers are still sitting in a drawer nearby but, since I started using the 650, I have not reached for a single one of them. Navigating through the various devices and commands is very simple. The one touch "activities" commands have worked flawlessly for me. At this price point I am not only happy but sincerely impressed with the performance of this remote control. The only reason I did not give this 5 stars is the set up issues which in all fairness could have been my lack of technical savvy. If money is tight and your tired of the remote control jungle....pull the trigger on this model and I suspect you will be completely satisfied.

Good for those with multiple devices
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have bought a lot of universal remotes and this is the first one that actually operated everything, and it was super easy to set up. It is the first universal remote I've had that operates my Comcast DVR box correctly, allowing me to do pretty much everything the normal remote does. I was always a little leery about buying a remote at this price, but it was well worth it.

The Ultimate Universal Remote
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have tried a multitude of universal remotes over the years. None of them has ever performed satisfactorily. The biggest problems I faced were (see if this sounds familiar): having to switch back and forth between devices for various functions and having equipment that wasn't on the list of product codes. The Harmony solved all that. With the online set up and a truly intuitive layout, it's a dream. Plus, even when it doesn't do exactly what it's supposed to do, all I have to do is hit "help" and it usually figures out what my problem is and then asks if it has now fixed the problem. Awesome. If you're looking for a great universal remote. Look no further. You may find one that's a few bucks cheaper. Don't waste your time & money on that. Get the harmony. It is more than worth the extra money.

finally have one remote for complete need
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife finally has one remote that she can use for her Samsung TV and blue ray , her TiVo, the Insignia receiver and Skype camera. It is neat how you go to the website and program the remote by inputting you devices and then downloading into the remote with the included micro usb cord. The battery life is holding up very good so far. I was expecting it to eat up batteries by previous reviews but that hasn't been my experience after two months plus.

Amazing Remote
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased two of these bad boys in the Thanks Giving sale at $39.99 each. They've gone back up to $79.99, so I managed to grab a deal :) You can download the eHarmony widget onto your PC and configure everything from there. Seems like they have every single electronic device in their database. Sync with the remote and you're done. The only annoying thing is if you lightly drop the remote, it will reset itself. Not sure why it does this?

Brilliant! Easy to setup, easy to use, and backlit
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wish I had done this years ago!! The Harmony 650 is easily configured via your computer. They have a bank of devices and all of mine, save for 1, was included in the list. The one that was not on the list was an easy configuration by IR. What I really liked was the intelligent configuration for groupings of activities, like "Watch TV', or 'Watch a Movie'. Easy enough for my kids to use it! I would highly recommend the 650, it met my needs and more.
