Okay but should be easier for the money

Okay, so it has quite a bit of functionality. However, for as much money as it costs it should be much easier and fool proof. I still have to use my other remotes regularly since it is easier than having to click a dozen times on this remote to perform the function I want. Bottom line, if you have a VERY simple home theater setup then it may give you what you want. But, if you have a gaming system, blu ray, receiver, HDTV, etc. - don't throw your other remotes too far away, you will still need or want to use them.

    The Dream Remote!

I was on the fence about getting one of these puppies, but on black friday best buy had this remote on sale for $39.99 and I decided to give in and get one. I am SO HAPPY that I did. While I did have a challenge setting up "myharmony" on my Apple computer, I resolved the issues by searching the myharmony discussion boards to get the solution. Once solved, I was able to access myharmony to link up the remote with my Samsung Soundbar, Westinghouse flatscreen TV, and Motorola cable box (Time warner cable). Before I had to use 3 remotes to turn the TV on, control the sound, etc. and now I can do IT ALL with this one remote! It was a BREEZE to link it up with my devices, and this thing is seriously intuitive to figuring out what you're trying to accomplish. I have a WATCH TV mode, a MUSIC mode, and a GAMING mode so now with the click of 1 button, I can do whatever I need to do. Love this product!

Great way to get down to ONE remote!

We were able to replace multiple remotes with this one device...as advertised. Logitech's website made it very easy to set up. Though it takes a couple of hours to do the initial setup, once you get the hang of how the web program works, it's easy to do and later go back and make modifications. I was even able to go to a 3rd-party web site later and add graphic display icons for all of our saved favorite channels. When synching with our existing video and audio devices, all of them were listed by Logitech very specifically down to exact model number. Really eliminated the guesswork! Some reviewers stated they needed to use a downloaded program from Logitech to get all the features they wanted. We got everything via the web program. Just a couple of minor complaints: The backlighted buttons are a bit hard to see in all but the darkest room. Also, you are limited to 23 favorite channels on this particular model. If that's a limitation for you, you might need to consider a more advanced model that allows you to save more channels. Otherwise, we are VERY pleased with this remote and would recommend to others tired of juggling multiple remotes. All of our old ones are now sitting in a pile in the drawer!

This replaced a Logitech Harmony 800 that quit working thanks likely to my grandkids. The model 800 is discontinued. I think I like this one better. Uses AA batteries and not rechargeable. Setup was easy and was able to copy my settings from my old unit.

I think this remote is great the easiest thing i have ever set up. Easy to read and understand functions. i use it on my TV,VCR/DVD Player,iHome and Verizon Box. Each device can be programmed with different buttons. and every button can be customized to your needs. Anyone who wants a Smart Remote for a good price. I Recommend the Harmony 650.

This remote works great with easy set up. Not sure about all the negative reviews. This was a piece of cake to get working. Just make an account online and input all your device information and logitec does the rest. Uploads everything you need to your remote.

I love this remote. At first I was skeptical to pay so much for a remote, but this one stands out of the crowd. I was able to consolidate 3 remotes into this one remote. It was very easy to program fo rthe basic functioons and fairly easy to add all of the additional functions to available buttons ans screen displays. The software is user friendly and explains step by step. My only issue was that the software was difficult to download on my laptop. Once I got over that hurdle everything was fine. My mom saw and used my remote. Now she wants one too. I love the one button features like "watch TV" "watch a movie", or "listen to music". This is an awesome remote!

The remote is great. once connected to the software it is very easy to program and teach it all the controlls. the only problem i had was to teach it the directv remote. onec acomplished, it works good. once in a while it may hang up but upon prompts, corrects the problem. a great easy to use universal remote. i will recommend it highly.

Fairly easy to set up, but misses a few buttons

The Harmony 650 was fairly easy to set up using the Logitech remote software. All but my blu-ray player were in the database. The remote does a good job of capturing all of the individual remote's functionalities, but certain functions (like the "clear" button on the TiVo) did not work without manual setup. The remote feels good, but some of the buttons lack good positive feedback (the "ok" button in particular). The activity settings are nice, as they simplify turning on multiple devices and switching modes. On downside is the LCD display is small and offers only four functions. My blu-ray player has 11 pages of functions, which I don't like Overall, this device is a good way to eliminate multiple remotes, but has a few limitations.

    Does the job well

I have had the 550 model for a number of years (in fact, have gone through three of them. They work great, but the dog enjoyed as well...) So bought this because I didn't need a ton of devices supported and I love using the PC to set things up. I know other remotes let you program at the remote and do learn commands but that is just a pain. I was not able to use the web interface to program the remote but since I use the Harmony software for my 550 remote, I was fine using that. You do need to create separate accounts for each remote. At first I had an issue with my "guide" button for the DirectTV. I was able to program another button to be the guide but followed up with customer service. They had me do a little exercise with the "guide" button and it works like a champ now. It had just become stuck internally. My interaction with customer service was via email and it was near real time. I think the customer support was great. So far I haven't used most of the specific features other than to turn the equipment on and off and change channels. Works fine. Next step is to just program the receiver for playing music but that should be a no-brainer. I recommend this product.

This remote is great I don't have to use several different ones for each component . The push of one button turns on all the components I need to watch tv or a movie. everything turns on and if I have problems or my husband has problems we can push the help button and it fixes itself It just doesn't get any better than that.

essential remote to control multiple devices

Absolutely essential to run all devices from one remote. I cannot imagine running the sound system, TV, Blue ray and internet using 4 different remotes. This one does it all but many times does not connect to all devices however the help button always works !

Best remote I have ever owned!

Was really easy to set up. It has replaced all of my old remotes. I have all the same functions that I had with my old remotes for my Stereo, TV, DVD, VCR and DirecTv dvr receiver. Plus with the Logitech Harmony 650 remote I now have single button actives that turn on several devices at once, plus a lot more functions to set up.

Bought the remote on sale which made it a great value. It is easy to set up and use. It is much better than the Harmony 550 it replaced. The casing is plastic which makes it a little flimsy, but light. It is very easy to switch between activities such as from watching tv to streaming.

    Really Good Universal Remote

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I consolidated 3 remotes into this 1. My previous remote was programmed using the original remotes of the devices. Placing them face to face. This remote requires a computer and online access. Once you have that it's pretty easy....even if you decide to stick with the defaults it sets up it does a great job. Usually, I would never spend $100 on a remote, but I had a gift card and it was on sale. But, after setting it and seeing how easy it was I wouldn't mind spending up to $75 for it. It allows for easy upgrades and adding new devices (online). I think I might eventually add my Panasonic TV in my room and digital antenna converter (if possible) to the remote. One fault that I found, which wasn't big, was that I had to switch to Receiver mode before I could adjust the volume since that's what I have all my components running through. My devices: Onkyo A/V Receiver, Onkyo DVD Player, Samsung Plasma TV.

    Not Perfect, But Almost

I've had this remote up and running for over 2 months and I'm very pleased with it so far. Setting up was relatively easy, but not simple. The controls are excellent, but it needs to "have problem fixed" quite a bit. No big deal, it's just a click or two to correct. Battery life is about 6 weeks. That's acceptable for a remote that has a color screen and has back lighting when needed. If remote sustains any bump from falling, etc., remote will need to be reset. Not from the computer, but through the remote itself. No big deal, just try not to drop it:) As stated in other reviews, there's a rattling sound when remote is shaken, even lightly. Some claim it's the beginning of the battery's becoming loose. So far I haven't had that problem. Overall, It's not a perfect remote, but I'll deal with some minor inconveniences compared to having 4 remotes cluttering my coffee table.

    Great Universal remote

Overall it's a great product. Creating new Activities and re-ordering the commands on the screens were the features I have used the most. It doesn't take long to do because the layout is very intuitive. I did have to synch the remote more than once as it would usually fail on the first (and sometimes the second) try.

When it worked it was good

We bought the Harmony One and the screen went dead after about 6 months for no apparent reason. So purchase a 650 due to lower cost and the ability to turn everything on with one button. Someone spilled a drink on it and it ceased to work. We purchased another and the enter button in the center of the arrows would not work. We exchanged it for another one and found out not only did the button not work the device did not light up (we did not know it was supposed to). This one works awesome, it was nice to be able to resync on line the new one with the old ones settings in less than 1 minute and be back up and running. I would buy another, just had a run of bad luck I assume.

    It has some shortcomings...

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

...but those may be solved by some in-depth research. My biggest complaint may be solved by some more detailed setup that I just haven't taken the time to look into. My biggest complaint is that it doesn't adequately control my new Samsung BluRay player. There's no pre-programmed button to get to the DVD menu. The "Menu" button takes you to the high-level menu of the player that has all of the apps, etc. This is frustrating for me, but even worse for the rest of the family. I don't like the layout as well as my older 670 either... The auto-light feature is an improvement. Bottom line though - if you have to control multiple components and multiple inputs, the Harmony is the only way to go.
