Looked at these remotes for years not believing the hype, wish I would have sooner. It is a true universal remote and more due to the intuitive nature. Recommended to everyone I have over for events.

Have an older TV with only 2 HDMI ports and wanted to add Apple TV. So I bought a Rockfish 4 HDMI switcher, to go along with a replacement Harmony that was a Deal of the day at $29.00. It is replacing one I have had for 7 years and was still working fine. Since I have Total Tech, I had the Geek squad come out and install the Switcher, Apple TV and program the new remote. When they were done I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was my TV, surround sound, Blue Ray, Directv etc reprogrammed but the Harmony now also controls the Apple TV and HDMI switcher, so I don't have to use the remotes for those items either. Everything operating very simply with just one remote, the Harmony 650.

    Marginally cool, functional remote

This is my 2nd Harmony; I upgraded from one of the very early models (a Harmony 520). I bought this in conjunction with one of the Logitech Harmony PS3 interfaces, in order to get a truly single-remote setup - and because the IR sender in my old Harmony has too narrow a FOV for my new, wider living room. This model isn't any WORSE than my old Harmony, but it's not much BETTER, either. Logitech has gotten rid of the old installed Harmony customization software in favor of a web-driven app that's not anywhere near as fully-featured. Big pro: The thing works as advertised. Pros: The 650 is faster than the older Harmonies; you only wait a few seconds between selecting an activity and the controller releasing device-level control back to the user. The on-screen graphics are better and easier to read in a dark room - but that's not saying a whole lot, given that the old displays were monochrome low-res LCD's. This controller adds PgUp and PgDn hardware buttons, along with RYGB Blu-ray control buttons. Basic setup is easy; I managed it in only about 15 minutes for four devices and four activities - with an 8-year old tugging on my sleeve the whole time. Biggest con: The thing works ONLY as advertised - make sure that you only want what the box says you can have - don't expect to be able to make it work for any nonstandard applications. Cons: New web-based setup doesn't offer anywhere near as many options as the old installed software did - creating custom activities and buttons is still possible, but they've taken out sequences, custom buttons/activities is a lot more complicated, and the interface is AWFUL (admittedly, the old interface was almost as bad, but at least it offered lots of pretty switches). Hardware activity buttons (above the LCD) are not blacklit, so changing activities in a darkened room involves either a flashlight or using the softkeys. Setting up favorite channels is neat, but the interface is counterintuitive, and after you do it, synching the remote messes up the softkeys in ALL of the activities. Finally, the controller occasionally sends the absolute WRONG commands to my PS3, particularly on shutdown. Not sure if that's this remote or the PS3 interface causing the problem, though. All told, I don't feel like I've wasted any time or money, but I'm not as blown away by the H650 in 2011 as I was by the H520 in 2006. Still, it does what I need it to do, and the lack of a lot of extra options, while disappointing, does keep me from endlessly tinkering with the bloody thing.

I would buy it again! I really like being able to touch one button and switch from watching TV to being able to watch a movie on the DVD player, and then back to TV when I want to. Great product!

easy to use and fast to control, i had the expensive model and returned it , faster to use a traditional stlye remote with a touch screen, rather then the square model that is all touch screen, too many pages to flip threw in order to perform a simple task

The software was a little confusing at first but once I got the hang of creating Activities it became easier. After using the remote for over a month I have to say it is a great product. No more looking for the right remote.... Just one does everything.

Easy to set up, and works as advertised. However, I wish the remote could control 6 devices instead of 5. I have 6 in my media room, so I had to use this in my living room which has 5 devices.

The Technical Support was above average. It took some work to get the "one button to watch tv" feature to get through menus that appear on DVD/home theater unit. Good shape and functionality.

I use this to control Two recievers, a tv, a bluray player and my directv box. It makes it easier for everyone to use. Even my wife and kids can use it. Takes a little time with the initial setup but it is not too bad. I would buy again if needed.

I lost the remote to my projector and got this to replace it. Works perfectly and I have it programmed to bring down the screen, turn on the audio receiver and the projector. Awesome!

I bought mine on sale - less than $40! We had a few glitches setting it up but once it was done we love it. From 4 controls to one. Can't be used with entertainment center with glass doors.

I was very skeptical about this remote because I have a complex set up. The programming of this remote was easier than I thought it would be. Highly recommended if you have a home theater and several other components.

Works great. Easy to program. Won't work with Next-Gen remote extender (see online forums). Went with the Sony learning remote for much less money (but it took much longer to program).

I bought this on sale ($39) to see if it could control my Samsung Plasma HDTV, Samsung suround sound system, and cable box. After struggling to download the software (3 times), the product works ecxcellent and is a great value. I recommend it.

    An Excellent Remote

I've been using the Harmony 650 remote for the past 6-years. Overall, I really like the way it feels in my hand. It's very well balanced, and while holding it, the buttons are placed within easy reach. Previously, I've used the standard Dish Network remotes. I find them too wide, and unbalanced, with a very spaced-out button placement. This Logitech remote solves those issues. I've been also using rechargeable batteries and they work wonderful. The only thing I don't like about this remote is that after a while, the sides of the buttons will wear away, leaving the key back-light bleed through. Somewhat annoying but doesn't effect the function. Very nice remote.

So I just upgraded my home entertainment system. New equipment included Sony 4K tv, Yamaha 481 receiver and a new Samsung blu ray player. These items along with my cable box and Apple TV, make a huge mess of remotes. You can only consolidate so much on the supplied Spectrum cable remote. I got complaints from the girls immediately after setting up all my new stuff because of the remote control mess. I had to agree and I knew I could do better after reading reviews of harmony remotes. I successfully combined functionality of all my stuff to the harmony 650... The whole press is very easy. Be aware you need to connect it to a pc to program it. They walk you through it, it's very easy. I should have gotten a harmony years ago.

Got this remote because I had just purchased another device and was tired of having a ton of remotes. The set up of it is made incredibly easy by the folks over at Logitech. Definitely a game changer in my opinion.

Great remote!! Just had to take it out of the box, pop in the batteries, plug it into my computer then sell it what devices I have and it found the correct codes for my devices. Easy to use and navigate the digital display menu.

Once it was setup, which was easy for anyone with computer background, the remote works great. My only negative would be that the buttons themselves are kinda small. The worst offender is the programmable buttons on the display, they are very tiny and seem to love to get stuck in the remote when pressed. If you don't notice it, the battery will drain and the remote will do strange things until you unwedge the button. If you can spend the extra money, I'd say the Harmony One has much better buttons, but going from $70 to $200 is a little bit extreme. Bigger buttons and a rechargable battery for $130 difference is a giant leap in price
