    unit works o.k., not dependable

this unit was purchased to replace the 550 remote(outdated)??Best buy audio told me it was a matter of plug in and done. The settings were not the same. I have worked with Harmony numerous times, 10 to 12 times, phone calls lasted 45 minutes to 2 hours each. Best buy offered to send Geek squad out for $150.00 fee. (Geek squad set up original one when I purchased the Home theater & TV they had installed.) They could offer no deals! I do have the Gold service contract on the TV. It does not seem to make a difference.

My wife has a hard time using it when all the electronics don't turn on the way they are supposed to. Sometimes when the remote falls off the table/couch the remote resets...

Set-up is a breeze. Unfortunately, the remote frequently resets itself, forcing you to go through the learning menus. To make matters worse, commands are unresponsive, frequently requiring multiple button presses for system to respond to your desired actions. Not recommended.

    Great remote when it works

I bought this remote for a house sitter before I went on vacation, rather than have to explain the multiple steps involved in turning my TV & Cable on. Remote works great for this, and makes the TV a lot easier to use and more fun for the whole family. All that said the remote works when it wants to. It resets (due to momentary loss of battery contact) constantly, requiring a multiple step relearn routine that I now know by heart. I hope Logitech can fix this as it is still under warranty.

A waste of time and money

I bought this about a year ago. Programming was relatively straight forward. The unit gets confused frequently and it has to reset itself all the time. I bought a new receiver and have tried for an hour to get to MyHarmony.com to reconfigure the Harmony remote. The website is circuitous and I can't even get to a login screen. This unit is not worth the money. Logitech support is a voicemail nightmare.

Love that I can operate all of my devices with one remote. I believe this remote can do MUCH more than I am asking of it.

I BOUGHT THIS FOR A NICE LITTLE GIFT TO MYSELF, IT WAS THE WORST THING I HAVE EVER DONE, INITIAL SETUP IS EASY AND QUICK BUT WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO SYNCING YOUR REMOTE IT ALMOST NEVER WORKS!! IVE READ FORUMS ON THIS PRODUCT AND MANY OTHERS AND IT TURNS OUT THAT 1000z OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES WITH THIS REMOTE. I CANT SPEAK FOR THE OTHER MODELS BUT THIS ONE IS STRAIGHT GARBAGE .....BOTTOM LINE.

We love Best Buy and recently bought a full home theater system from them. It's a great system EXCEPT for the Harmony Remote. When it works, all is OK....but it eats batteries and when they are low, it goes haywire and turns on/off equipment, which in turn causes the entire system to malfunction. Your left wondering what the heck is going on. You have to manually turn off all the equipment and start over. The problem is there is no "low battery" indicator, so it leaves you in the cold guessing what is wrong. We are having to replace the batteries every 2-3 weeks. I'm actually on the Best Buy website looking for another alternative. Once I get another remote, I plan to sit my Harmony in the driveway to test how it can withstand a 50 lb cinder block dropped from 5 feet.

    Doesn't work

    Posted .

Most devices don't have direct input choice, so when you want to watch a DVD it has to cycle the tv inputs to what it assumes is the correct input by assuming it knows which input it was last on. So it never hits the correct input on the TV. Like assuming it knows if the TV is already on or not. It sends a signal to the tv to cycle the power to the opposite setting. It doesn't know unless the tv remote actually had two bottoms for power on and another for power off.

Difficult to program, not intuitive to use

Returned this after wasting a day trying to configure it. Most of my devices wouldn't work with it out-of the-box, and training it is tedious. I had hoped the LCD would make it intuitive for my family to use, but the UI isn't well thought out at all. Ended getting a Sony RM-VLZ620 Universal for about a third of the price, which was far easier to program, train, and use, despite the lack of a LCD. Overall, very disappointing for a Logitech product.

Won't run most A/V receiver functions. Does a great job with TV, blu-Ray, and Bose solo. "All off" button never turns off all devices.

    Not consistent performance

I bought the remote for my father who has developed physical challenges, so he could easily switch between TV and DVD watching. It does not always switch correctly, and although there are "on remote" display directions to correct it, my father cannot use it. So, if you know electronics, this at least cleans up the clutter of multiple remotes, but not for those who have challenges dealing with electronics that don't always work as expected.

    Harmony can do better

I also own the Harmony 620 remote and that is the reason I purchased another Harmony remote. Unfortunately, my old 620 remote is a better remote than the newer 650 remote. Overall, the 650 does what it says but only after multiple button presses and/or pointing the remote directly at your tv. I intend to return the remote and search for another 620 remote. I WOULD RATHER USE MULTIPLE REMOTES THAN THE 650 REMOTE

5 devices? Are you kidding me?

I've had a Harmony 670 for 8 years now. It's been great, it's just a little worn looking, and it doesn't light up as well as it used to. When I purchased a new TV, I thought it was time to upgrade my universal remote as well. The 650, though a lower 'number' is a newer product, it's got a fancy color screen and cost more than my ancient 670 did... I ASSUMED it would be able to do whatever the old one could... WRONG. I have an average entertainment center, a TV, an AV, a DVD jukebox, a BlueRay player, a Wii, Xbox... got rid of Direct TV a while ago. 6 devices, no big deal right? WRONG again, the 650 apparently only supports a lousy 5 devices. What kind of worthless $75+ peice of 'universal' remote can only handle a lousy 5 devices? I could get the same thing from some little $15 RCA universal remote from RadioShack... Needless to say, I'm switching back to my 670, and I'm going to test BestBuy's return system... Unfortunately the packaging is in the trash... :( Lesson learned... read all of the packaging before purchasing. If I'd ordered it online I would probably have noticed the "5 Device Remote" quote... Didn't see that in the store.

    Spend money for RF

Web setup easy as pie. Problem is this device will not control and do the things that you programmed it to do. ie: To watch DVD: TV needs to be on HDMI2 and DVD needs to be on DVD and play. it was a nightmare. Customer service is by far the rudest and extremely incompetent. Learned that RF is the way to go but costs $200 more.

My remote lasted almost 2 weeks before it quit working. 9 days into it I finally had everything programmed like I wanted. Then I would hit any button and the remote would reboot on the LCD screen. The next day, it wouldn't even turn on. Tried new batteries...nothing working. Returned it and went back to 3 remotes. This remote can be programmed to be used in your home theater but.... If you have kids or can tend to drop things, this remote is not for you. Our remote has been dropped and now shuts off randomly all the time which means it need to reboot all the time. So if you are trying to change the channel quickly to avoid the kids from seeing something on the news or tv. Good Luck.

    Logitech website sucks!

Like so many like me, I purchased an universal remote as a Christmas gift. The company's website was so overloaded that it crashed every day. I had hoped to be able to program the remote while viisting the giftee. No chance of that happening! The programming site was down every day for several days in a row. Worse, while trying to trouble shoot the problem with the Logitech's representatives (who were always nice enough), they would force me to go through a time consuming dialogue before telling me that the Logictech programming site was experiencing problems and I would have to call back. I even had a representative program my remote on their end but, she was never able to fix my login and so was never able to complete the programmimg. It's a product that is ahead of its competitors, but Logitech did such a lousy job of building a computer system to support it! I would wait for another company to come out with a product like it rather than put yourself through the frustration of using the Logitech's poorly designed system for programming. It just isn't worth the pain of making the remote operational.
