Good Universal Remote

I have several Logitech universal remotes. I find once I have an account and understand the basics of setting up these remotes, they are quite useful. I already had a 700, but was disappointed that this latest one did not come with an ac adapter for charging. Other than that, it is one of my favorites because of the onscreen prompts and ability to set up 8 devices.

As a nontech guy, it took a second to figure out how to load all of the systems on the remote. Once you get past that, you may have to lower the repeat function on it b/c it would double enter the digits when entered. The Logitech website will help you resolve this and their site is awesome compared to others. Overall, it takes a while to get used to but once you do, very functional and allows you to enter/use a lot of devices. Only reason four stars is because of the repeating function settings are so high, otherwise pretty darn cool remote!

Good remote for the price. Lights up which is a big plus. It can handle 8 devices, easy to program. Response time can be a bit sluggish at times. Once in a while, the remote can get confused, but easily corrected by pressing the help button. Overall, it is a lot better than the original device remote and it is great not having 5 different remotes.

This is the same type of remote I have purchased years ago. I loved it then and now. I am able to program and reprogram this remote when I purchase a new tv or blue ray player or receiver. After setting up the software on my computer I can reconnect it to change a device or how I watch tv. Press one button to watch a blue ray and the remote will turn the tv on set it to the hdmi input you set, turn the receiver on and set it to blue ray input and it will turn the blue ray player. The first time you set it up it may be a little difficult to get the exact setting you want but once you get it you will be happy with this purchase.

I have been using Logitech Harmony remotes for probably 10 years or so. I love them. They make using a home entertainment system with a tv, cable box, A/V receiver, disc player, multiple game consoles, and an fan SUPER easy.
The software takes a few minutes to learn but after that, it's all up to your imagination on how deep you want to go programming macros. For example, my roommate likes watching subtitles on tv. I do not. I programmed two macros, one for automatically turning them on and a second for turning them off, and programmed them to two unused buttons. Now, he presses one button and waits 2 seconds to turn them on and I do the same with another button to turn them off.
I'd like to see a few more devices supported like on their older models. I'd also like it to be usable while charging. A previous version with a charger was more convenient than the new versions with the micro usb cable that goes in to the remote. These are minor gripes though. This remote is sooo much better than trying to use three or four different remotes or trying to program a cable box remote.

Battery charging issue, great otherwise

I have 3 of these, one who's was sent to me free by Logitech to replace one with battery charging issues. They are great and easy to program but 2 have charging issues, one will not charge at all the other is temperamental. Only other complaint is that if the wrong mode is hit or remote is not facing correct direction it requires many button presses to get fixed. I love the fact I can compleatly control the sequence to power on or off in the settings as well as LCD button order, but this level of programming is not needed to make then functional. Everything is saved online so you can copy settings and use any computer. Instructions indicate it will take 45 min to program, my first took 10-15 min, 5 for the second two. You cannot charge using a computer which sucks and charging cord is short and does not include ac plug

I bought this remote to consolidate a dvd, tv, amp, and surprisingly an Xbox one. The remote works as billed. Press one button and everything starts, takes a few seconds but everything kicks in. There is a help button that works through any issues that may arise. My amp would go from did to tv and the help button fixed it. My one complaint I can't get the remote to work with tv smart functions. Should be able to do it but haven't had a lot of time to figure it out.

I use this remote on some older equipment in a secondary audio/video setup I have in my home. It was somewhat surprising, but each piece was in Logitech's database - 15yo preamp/processor, 15yo SACD player, 12yo universal player, etc. Saved the day with the older pre/pro as the original remote had begun to malfunction and original replacements were nowhere to be found at any price. As with any programmable remote, there is a small learning curve in its use and setup. In order to make the Logitech as user-friendly as possible, some button's functions may need to be taught using the original remote, assuming you have a working one. I've never been a huge fan of universal programmable remotes as they typically require multiple button presses to replicate a single-button operation of the original, but this Logitech certainly has its place and has served me well. The rechargeable battery feature of this particular model is convenient as well as being environmentally friendly. Overall I am very pleased.

One way sync

I like the remote but find the that when updating or changing settings on the remote (from the PC), it is a one way sync from the computer to the remote. When you set up the remote initially, it puts base settings on the remote and as you turn stuff on and off, it makes adjustments the first time within the remote. When you resync it with PC, those adjustments have to be reprogrammed. Other than that I really like the remote.

I really like some of the features. I like being able to create "activities" that allow different buttons on the remote to control different devices. I think it's neat how choosing the "Watch TV" activity will turn on your TV and cable box, select the appropriate input, and allow you to change the channels on the cable box while controlling the volume on the TV. Or you can choose to have the remote control a specific device. Sometimes I can't find the appropriate button on the remote for a particular device, but using the buttons around the screen lets you search through the commands for that device. Plus any button can be remapped to perform any command you want. On the negative side, the remote would sometimes fail to turn the TV on when selecting an activity or turn the DVD player off again if we'd already inserted the disc. So it's not perfect. But it's much better than having to deal with 4 separate remotes. Also, the battery life seems quite good for something with a screen on it.

This remote works very well with a wide variety of equipment. It even works with a 30-year old JVC CD player. Programming is fairly easy and I was able to use the 'congruity' open source application under Debian 8
(no Windows required). I purchased the remote when it was on sale for half price, so that was also a good deal.

I got this Logitech remote to control my Samsung TV, Samsung soundbar, and Dish box. The problem I was having was that when I would choose the sound input as "D. In" (Optical) on the soundbar, the TV remote could no longer adjust the volume and I had to get out a third remote for the sound bar. When using Samsung's wireless SoundConnect feature, the TV remote was able to control the volume, but occasionally there would be strange static and cutting out of sound. I believe there was some sort of interference occurring with the wireless connection, but this was solved by using the optical cable.
This remote allows me to control all three devices with one remote. The setup is not very difficult, and it has a built-in feature to correct for devices not turning on or off when they are supposed to. I haven't even begun using all the features of this remote, but the basics are definitely covered.
The only thing I still need the Samsung TV remove for is the Smart features of the TV liking using apps and the neat wireless pointer.
Overall, I recommend this remote!

The remote was easy to set up using Windows 10.
There is an activity feature that is really great. I've had remotes with macros before, but this goes beyond that. It configures all the buttons on the remote properly for the given activity.
I was happy to find that the Harmony database knew about all the extended commands for devices, and I could easily program the buttons to do whatever actions I wanted without having to program it with my old remote. I wanted to use the "previous channel" button to do the "back" function, and it was a simple drag-and-drop in the Windows app to reconfigure the button.
The backlight is nice, and it automatically lights up when you pick up the remote.
The on-screen menu is also great for extended commands. If you want to use some deep function from the original remote without a dedicated button, you can find the command in the menu.
This remote truly did replace all of my remotes.
Lastly, the value was right now that this model is discontinued. It's probably worth the full price really, but even better at a discount.

This is a must-have if you control multiple devices in your home theater setup. No more changing input sources on your TV and receiver. Unlike most universal remotes, you don't have to hassle with entering a gazillion vendor codes only to get partial functionality. Connect the Harmony to your computer via USB, search for your device from Logitech's database of 270,000 components, and all functions are automatically configured on the Harmony.

I've had Harmony remotes (2 of them) for years. The 700 is the best option as its the least expensive of the re-chargeable ones. Does everything Comcasts remote does and more. I keep the model 650 as back-up when recharging the 700. (Takes a while) . It controls every component I own. WITH ZERO PROBLEMS!! Finally had to change to a new 700 after 5 years. Not because it stopped working, but because of to much nacho cheese in the buttons.

The remote is easy to set up and use. All buttons are customizable to perform any function you want for each device. It replaces our tv, soundbar, Roku, DVD and directv remotes. A little too complicated for kids to operate fully though. We love it.

I have used Harmony remotes for several years and this new Harmony 700 is another excellent remote. Programming is straight forward but there is a bit of a learning curve. I took one star off the rating due to the fact the first Harmony 700 I purchased was dead out of the box and had to be returned. Best Buy handled the return without any hassle and the replacement remote works very well.
