Brilliant tech gadget!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my husband at Christmas and it has been his favorite gift! The setup is SO easy and the product is SMART!. You plug the remote into your PC and gather all your device model numbers. It downloads all the software and even knows what types of devices need to be connected for each "activity". So when I say "Watch TV" it knows I want to turn on my TV and my receiver (using proper setting). We even hooked up our Roku box and for the most part can control it. And talk about smart...it noticed that a couple times our receiver hadn't turned on during an activity. It put a message on the screen and it sent out a signal to re-establish connection and haven't had any problems since! This device has eliminated 5 remotes in our theatre room and was such a great investment!! I'd highly recommend this product to anyone.

Easy setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought a samsung UHD TV & sony sound bar. The samsung remote has a optical laser pointer and voice activation feature which I am not able to use with the Harmony remote, not a deal breaker. I was able to eliminate & combine 4 remotes to just one; cable/ DVR, SOUND BAR, TV AND BLUE RAY PLAYER. Setup was fairly easy. I am loving it.

Very useful
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for the same reason that everyone else buys one of these: to cut down on the number of remotes in the living room. I'm very technically savvy, so the setup was a breeze for me, but I can see how someone who doesn't automatically know how to find the model number of all of their devices. Once it's set up (and, if you have a PS3 like I do, you also have the adapter), it's very easy to use. There are a few slight downsides. For one thing, it only seems to need to be charged right in the middle of when we're using it. I'm not happy with Logitech's choice of Ni-MH batteries, so that you have to wait for it to die completely before you can charge it or else they'll develop a memory. The only other gripe we have is that sometimes it doesn't turn things off correctly. Half the time the PS3 comes on when we wanted to use the TV and the DirecTV receiver. The "Help" button does fix it easily, so it is a minor annoyance. Outside of those two things, however, this remote is a wonderful piece of equipment and I highly recommend it. My wife and I are very pleased with it.

Just right
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second Harmony remote. My first one (the original) worked great but I recently got all new AV gear and wanted a newer version of the Harmony. I have 4 devices and I'm sure I'll get a 5th, so this fit perfectly (6 is the limit). The next higher price/more feature version is the Harmony One and the extra features weren't necessary. But after paying $2500 for my new gear, an extra $100 for the Harmony One wouldn't have been a big deal except I hated the shiny black fingerprint magnet finish. The 700 has a matte finish that feels good in the hand and doesn't pick up smudges, etc. The keys are kind of rubbery and the spring is just right – so using it is a pleasure. The key layout is very logical and intuitive. I like the slight figure 8 shape and the balance. From an ergonomic point of view, the design is excellent. The device set-up is the same across Harmony remotes (as far as I know) and is pretty good. I wish there was a bit more control over sequence and timing. My receiver, TiVo, and Blu-Ray have a lot of features that require this kind of tweaking. Maybe I just haven't figured out how to do it yet. My old Harmony used a cradle for recharging which was drop-dead simple to use. I keep the recharger in a cabinet and plugging in the mini-USB in a dark cabinet is kind of hit-or-miss. But the battery life is excellent so this is a minor annoyance. I think the ergonomic features of the 700 make this the best Harmony irrespective of price.

Got rid of a pile of remotes
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this remote for over a year now and there has still not been a problem. It is so easy to change the settings on the remote via my computer whenever I get a new device or need to change the inputs. This remote has been great because we have 6 devices and 6 remotes is a lot to deal with. This is great because it consolidated all of these 6 remotes into one and has an activity feature which allows me to push one button and have all the inputs configured and the right devices on. That is better than fumbling through 6 remotes to turn everything on and configure it. When this remote finally breaks, which doesn't appear to be anytime soon, me and my family will definitely invest in another harmony remote, perhaps even one of the better models.

A true universal remote
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this remote after having a lengthy discussion with the best buy sales associate. I have been pleased with the perfomance of this product so far. I used to have four remotes now I only use this one. All of my electronics functions are able to be adjusted using this remote. I really like the fact that the back light comes on as soon as I pick it up. I no longer have to juggle several remotes just to relax and watch tv or listen to music.

Tops the others!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned the Harmony 720, 880, and Harmony One. I replaced them all with this one. It is, in my opinion, better than the others. The 720 and 880 buttons were too small and delicate, and the One was too fragile with the touch screen sensitive. The 700 is easiest to use, can be compatible with an RF extender, was less expensive (got the $119.00 sale price), and most durable. It does not have the cradle, but Harmony has decreased cords by 1/2, so it is greener. Besides, we need to maybe get off our seats to do one extra thing (plug in to recharge), as we already have convenience of the one remote. I also like the color much more. You will like this product! By the way, Best Buy has become a favorite store of mine, because the customer service has risen to the top!

I'm impressed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had a few "cheap" universal remotes over the years that were less than impressive. I didn't expect a huge improvement when I bought this one, so my expectations were low. I love how detailed the setup is. All the buttons actually work and you can customize any button to do a specific task, which is a HUGE improvement from the cheaper ones I was familiar with. I went from 4 remotes to 1 and the process of turning on the tv or movie went from using 3-4 remotes and going through a 6 step process to picking up one remote and pushing 1 button. I highly recommend this, it's a little expensive but worth it's weight in gold if you fumble through remotes and inputs like I was used to every time you sit down to watch some tv or a movie.

Lots of features, makes my wifes life easier
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This remote does exactly as advertized. My goal was to make it easy for my wife to switch to/from cable, bluray, netflix or pandora. This remote accomplished that and was easy to setup using my laptop.

Awesome remote
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second Harmony remote and I love them. You don't have to sit and find codes for almost all your electronics, it is done online and it downloads right to the remote. Was surprised by how many things this remote will control. Haven't really found a downside to this yet.

Easy Setup, Works Great!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a remote to automatically run a sequence of commands to make my Bright House mandatory cable box always output HDMI in 1080p so that changing channels didn't hang. This remote not only did that, but also controls an Xbox 360 and TV smoothly, and the setup was very easy.

Great Remote
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Simple remote to use. Easy to set up with desktop software.Everything is able to be customized to your liking if you take the time to set it up. Not sure why people are complaining about the battery problems with this model. I bought it at a amazing discounted price before Xmas. Set it up and charged it over night, and as of today Jan 16th, i have yet to charge it again. I use it like a fiend in the weekends and nights too. My only gripe is occasionally it someone uses is it incorrectly it will get out of sync and the "Activity" button will only turn on one or two of the devices, and one of them off. Have to manually select each item and turn them off, then hit "Activity" again. The remote doesnt know when devices are on or off. Also, when you re-programme it. Make sure all devices are OFF. Or it will then be out of sync again.

Great Remote
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I currently own the Logitech One remote and needed a second remote for parents house. The Harmony 700 is a perfect solution for those who simply have IR devices and don't need all the bells and whistles. Battery life is good and remote functions quickly and reliably.

best part of my home theater system
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this is the best part of my home theater system because of how easy it makes using my system for my wife. I am an advanced home theater person however she is not. but with this remote all she has to do is push one button and what ever she needs on turns on and switches to the right input for her. It was very easy to set up and I love how you can customize the controller completely to what you want. Rechargeable battery last a long time also. Worth the money to make using a home entertainment system easy for everyone

Great remote for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for my parents and at less than $50 this is a great product with a slight learning curve. Once you get everything setup it works seamlessly and can replace the pile of remotes that can get confusing for some.

Very Nice Remote
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very good remote for the price. I thought it was pretty easy to set up. So far any short falls that I have found is not do to the remote but do the device the remote is controlling. The help function is a very nice feature to help my wife figure out which component did not go on or off. For the most part like with any other universal remote you need to be patient and keep it pointing at the entertainment center for a few seconds until all the commands have been transmitted. So far this remote has done everything I have wanted it to do.

Great for systems with extra external devices!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setup was easy once I installed the Logitech Harmony Remote Software 7. The My Harmony software would not recognize my TiVo unit. The Hamony Remote 7 software made it easy to setup my TV, TiVo and Bose sound system. I also was easily able to setup my Sony Blue Ray player and Bose sound system with ease. This remote was excatly what I was looking for.

Great Remot
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this remote to replace 5 remotes at my entertainment center. I use a Samsung plasma, Sony 400 disc DVD player, Samsung BluRay, Insignia A/V receiver, and Dish Network DVR satellite receiver. Setup was pretty simple but I had to tweak it a little. After a couple of tweaks, everything works great. While setting it up, it did not let me me set up a BluRay player. I had to set it up as a DVD2. It still works good but I think Logitech should fix this and make BluRay a specific device. I also like that you can customize buttons and make it work to your liking. I would highly recommend this remote.

Great Remote if Programmed Correctly
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Logitech has been working hard on making their Harmony software more user friendly. The new program lacks some advanced features for power users but it gets the basics down correctly. Before you even start get out a notepad and write down all the devices that you will be programming into the remote. For example. TV - Samsung UNEH53000 HDMI 1 is connected to HDMI in 2 on AVR AVR - Yamaha A2000 HDMI 2 is connected to TV The more you properly prepare, the better the remote will be. It takes time to fine tune the settings, but your patience is worth the time. I only buy Logitech remotes because they always work.

A bit expensive but worth it for us.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My girl friend was having a lot of trouble using the standard remotes for the Sony AV player, comcast dvr, LG tv, LG blue ray and roku box. It got to the point she simply couldn't watch Roku unless I was around. I had programmed a cheap radio shack remote to handle most of this but frankly it was tough for me to keep sorted out and I was running out of buttons to program. I balked at the price of the harmony 700 but after reading the mostly positive reviews decided it was worth a shot. I'm fairly experienced with computers and found the setup to be a breeze. The setup instructions should be more clear for Roku and BluRay devices. I suggest Logitech setup separate categories just for them. Also the Harmony 700 doesn't have a specific programmed button for the home key for Roku. It was simple enough to program a specific button to handle this. The actual operation of the harmony 700 is wonderful and now my girl friend can watch whatever she wants whenever she wants. I intentionally messed up the shut down procedure just to demonstrate how nicely the help function works to complete shut down in case there is a problem. She's thrilled with that feature as that was a recurring problem with our old hodgepodge of remotes. I still use the comcast remote from my chair to switch channels or adjust volume (sort of his and hers remote-grin), but I grab the harmony 700 for everything else.
