Outstanding remote and a breeze to set-up
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this remote and set it up last night in 45 minutes of so. The reason it took so long is I have an older CD player that I wanted to be able to control with this device. When I first bought the CD player it did not come with a remote but this 700 makes it work as though it did; To program the remote and set-up macros is ver y, very easy. Just go to the webpage that they make available and tell them the equipment that you will be using. The program will search it out and the new remote will have all the functions like the one that came with it does. It was somewhat of a hassle to return the URC that I bought but they finally did let me exchange for this one. The only drawback is I paid $150 for the URC and it had been on sale recently and they gave me the sale price, It cost me $20 because of that but well worth since the original was a piece of junk. Here is the info on the URC. Universal Remote Control - Digital Universal Remote - Black/Silver Model: URC-R50 | SKU: 8993459 DO NOT BUY THE URC. IT IS A PIECE OF JUNK AND A WASTE OF MONEY. The 700 only controls 6 devices. The URC claims to control 18 but I could not get it to control even one.

Overall a good remote, but has short battery life
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a replacement for my old Harmony remote, so set up was a snap, I just went in to the software, and added the remote. The computer loaded everything up, and I was good to go. the original set wasn't hard either, just tell the computer what you have and it will find the right codes for it. once it does you can customize it how you like for most used buttons and things like that. The color screen is nice but not really needed. This new unit uses 2 AA batteries where the old one used 4 AAAs. I think this is the reason it eats batteries. the ones that came with the unit are passable, but I got more use out of store bought rechargeables, and charging them in an external charger. Not only is it faster that way, but they do last longer. the built in charger take about 3hrs, too long if your watching TV right then. I also keep a spare set on hand ready to go as this unit gives you little or no warning the batteries are getting low. It does however get slow to respond when your getting close. If your an old Harmony user you will notice that the extra "hump" on the bottom of the remote is gone. it used to annoy me that it was there, now I miss it as the new doesn't have it. the "hump" was an extra bump on the bottom of the remote in front of the battery compartment, it made holding the remote to push buttons higher up easier. it wasn't attractive but it worked really well. Overall its a good remote, and nothing here is a deal breaker for me.

Replaced 4 remotes effectively
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this as a replacement remote for an open box receiver that didn't come with one, as recommended by best buy associates. Couldn't be happier as it replaced all 4 of my remotes and does all the same functions each of them did.

Best Remote for the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Logitech makes programming their remotes very easy, and what is better is that since I upgraded from a cheaper Logitech remote all my system devices were already in the program. I really enjoy picking up the remote and seeing the back lighting already on. Very convenient. The buttons seem to work better than the last one I had, they almost click so you know that you have pressed it. The rechargeable batteries are great. It lasts a long time on one charge. I used to own a fully programmable touch screen remote years ago and this remote works great and is much cheaper.

Super easy to program and use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The remote is very easy to use as all you have to do is set up how you want it to work on your computer and plug it into the usb port. Additionally it has all the abilities that each individual remote had for controlling components. This remote has a rechargable battery that last me about 2 weeks before it must be recharged.

easy setup--similar layout to other remotes
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The USB and PC software programming method is easy to perform once you get used to the software and how the remote works. I programmed the remote for my TV, DVR, BluRay and AVR with no problems. I made a programming mistake for volume control, but was able to fix that with no problems. This remote is easy to use, intuitive, and has similar functions as the DVR remote, which is used the most. I also programmed and removed specific button commands from the AVR, so that I can now do everything I want with this one remote vs. four. I am impressed.

Unreal Remote
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To put it simple, I was using three remotes for direct tv satallite, tv, and home theater systems. I wasn't sure what to expect after reading the reviews. In about a half hour all my remotes were included into the logitech controled by one button. I couldn't believe it, but it was just like it says, one touch for everything. The only bad thing I could see is if you have more than 6 systems to control. I have three systems and it is a lifesaver. I would have liked to buy something less than the $150 it sells for, but the remote is unreal!

Harmony is the Best!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for a Christmas gift for a friend, and he absolutely LOVES it. He especially likes the ease of setting up the activities via the web. You can't go wrong with the Logitech Harmony remote!

Awesome
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did a little research and sometimes when you purchase something it dosent always work like it says, but the Harmony 700 delivers. Set up was painless, works great with my PS3(Adapter sold seperately), handles all my devices even my reciever which is about 13 years old. This remote can do everything the orignal one can do and more. I would have given durabilty 5 stars, but I just bought it. If you are looking for a remote that can handle up to six devices I dont think you will find a better one for the price!

One remote to control them all
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is now my second Harmony remote. My first one was purchased as a refurbished unit from a popular online electronics retailer and worked great for many years. But it finally bit the dust. Without hesitation, I bought another Logitech Harmony remote. This remote has a great feel in the hand and is light-weight but doesn't feel cheap. The buttons are nice and rubbery and have a great tactile feel when pressed. Response time between pressing a button and the action being performed on the device is much better than my previous Harmony remote. The remote uses (and comes with) re-chargeable AA batteries. You can use a regular battery charger or you can plug a micro-USB (similar to what most cell phones use to charge) cable into the remote to begin charging. Of course, you can use standard AA batteries as well - just don't try to recharge those. The only downside of this newer remote is the lack of a charging/docking station. My old Harmony remote came with a slim and sleek docking station battery charger that fit neatly into my entertainment center. You would just lay the remote on top of the dock and it would begin charging. No need to fuss around with finding and plugging in a micro-USB cable.

Easy setup, simply transfered from older model
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgraded two older Harmony remotes to Harmony 700 series. Selected due to need for less than 6 devices for each remote. Both upgraded/replaced the older remotes without issue. One of the two subseqently reprogramed following complete age related failure of componet systems it was managing. Easily accomplished by deleting all devices, adding new devices and establishing desirered actions: watch tv, watch tivo, watch blue ray, listen radio, listen CD. Quick easy painless. Happy customer...

Streamlined Convenience
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This remote is neat. I finally got fed up dealing with four remotes and bought this thing. I bought the adapter for the PS3 as well, which I highly recommend. I really enjoy that, during setup, you can decide which devices control volume and channel changing, and so forth. There's not switching the remote to the A/V receiver to change the volume and then switching it back to the cable box to change the channel, like a typical universal remote. I press the volume buttons and the receiver turns up and down, I press channel, and the cable box changes channel. Very convenient. The option to put an icon on the favorite channel screens is pretty slick, too. The fit and finish of the remote and system is superb. The setup program did not quite know how my TV worked and so the activity buttons did not properly switch the TV inputs. I had to call support to get the problem fixed. I was referred to "second level" support and was on hold for about 35 minutes before I spoke with the very helpful and knowledgeable tech guy. He fixed my problem, and actually streamlined the overall function of the activity buttons. Once I got all the aspects of the remote working well, it's great.

Fantastic remote for multiple devices
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Except for the necessity of needing an expert to program this remote, this is the BEST remote ever. So EASY to use. Controls TV, blu-ray player, CD player, turntable, radio, cassette player, and more with straight forward English messages and function buttons. Love it!

Better value than the touch screen model
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I chose this one over the more expensive touch screen models, like the 900. I am glad too, because after it is all set up, you just end up pushing one button, no need for some clever touch screen for that. I did have trouble adding all my devices, but with a mailing to Logitec, they promptly helped me completely. The downside to this, and all these remotes, is you have to have every device (tv/Blue Ray/Sound System/Cable box) in the exact correct on/off state, because the remote simply "toggles" that state, not knowing whether it is on or off. So, if a cable box happens to be on, and you decide to watch TV, hitting the "watch TV" task will turn every thing on (TV and sound system), but turn off the cable box, so you have to go into "device mode" and restart it. So, it can be a hassle at times. There is no silver bullet, and if you are disciplined, these "gang remotes" tend to work most the time.

Wonderful remote at a reasonable price.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're tired of having 3,4 or more remotes around this is the remote for you. It is a little pricey at $150, but compared to some of the higher end Logitech remotes, it's not that bad... and I am sure they are wonderful too. I can control my television, cable box, dvd player, surround sound and netflix player all from here. I was even able to buy an adapter that lets me control my bluetooth ps3! It had problems with controlling my surround sound, and I simply pointed to surround sound remote at this one, went through a few steps and it learned what signals to send. It can be a little difficult to set up, but I pride myself on being pretty decent at this type of thing...and let me tell you, you can do everything with this. You set up activities, like watch tv...which it turns the tv on, and then to the input it needs to be on, and turns on your cable box. It even let me create quick keys for the cable box to go right to my dvr. Amazing. I hit watch a movie. Turns the cable box off, turns the tv to input 2, and turns on my ps3. Absolutely amazing. I hit the volume...and my surround sound is effected not the tv volume. You can set the buttons up how ever you like. Absolutely wonderful. And if you're lazy like me, you can set it up with the favorite channels feature... you don't need to read anything, just use the picture of the networks icon click it. Everything is completely customizable. The set up even had an option to control lighting if you have remote lights. You get 30 days of free support upon purchase... so if you do have trouble with the set up, have all your remotes ready, but just call them and they can get you through it. SIMPLY GREAT REMOTE THAT DELIVERS WHAT IT PROMISES!!!

Max 6 Devices, not 8 - Great Otherwise
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I enjoyed a lower model device for years, and upgraded to accommodate more devices. This device is even easier to hold/see/use (the key labels are very clear with backlighting), and I loved it. Problem: The software wouldn't allow me to add more than six devices, and Logitech Tech Support just told me that it's not a software bug. Even the packaging is incorrect -- this model handles a max of 6 devices, not 8. I've alerted Best Buy Customer Support separately so they can update the web page here.

Excellent Remote, Easy to Setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been looking for a universal remote to control my projector, Apple TV, PS3, TV, and receiver. This bad boy does all of the above with ease! (NOTE: A separate adapter is needed to control the PS3 but it can be had for a reasonable price online and is very easy to setup as well.) After installing the Harmony application to my laptop, I plugged in my remote using the supplied USB adapter, answered a few simple questions about my setup, and viola--one remote to rule them all. I got a great deal on the remote on Black Friday, but can honestly say it's worth the full price.

excellent upgrade
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had Harmony remotes now for about 7 years. I have 2 Model 659's that I use on separate systems. Bought both used on ebay, off button finally quit on one of them. Bought the model 700 on sale, came home logged into my Logitech account and clicked on replacing my remote, took about 2 minutes went upstairs and every command from my old remote was programmed in. I like that when you pick it up it automatically lights up the keys and it is rechargable. I love Harmony remotes and recommend them to everybody that has a home theatre system.. The 1st time programming can be a little tricky but once you do it you can add or delete devices easily and it works like dream. Love the help function, walks you right thru what isn't on or off. Make sure you keep the remote pointed at your system until it goes thru the whole command..put all your other remotes in a drawer and enjoy

Great remote
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've never used a universal remote until I recently bought this one. It's awesome. Easy to set up and works great. I only have to point the remote to the TV, not my blu-Ray player or anything else. I love how the remote screen and buttons light up when you pick up the remote. Definitely worth the money. Now, many remotes turned into one remote!

Best option for me with a caveat.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this because I have many devices in my Home theater setup. This gives me the ability to control my streaming device, TV, blue ray player, surround sound system, and DVR. But the only issue is that activities don't always activate correctly and I have go through the help setup allot. I still like the device but wished it worked netter in this area.
