Did everthing I wanted, but ...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using Logitech harmony remotes for years and have owned many models over the years. As a user of the old style PC program to set up my remotes, I was very pleased how easy it was to use the new web based application or the android application to set up this remote. One of the great things was it took all of my activities and settings from my old style remote and seamlessly moved it to this remote (which you would expect - treating it as an "upgrade"#. My only disappointment is that I found the remote to be marginally useful and would suggest the ultimate over this. I also had a PS3 and had set it up with an old Logitech PS3 Harmony adapter #which worked great with my older harmony remotes# ... unfortunately, the harmony hub in this product replaces my old adapter, but the new hub doesn't work with my old remote #which I wanted to keep using# so I was forced to either use the less functional remote #if I wanted to use a remote# or use the tablet/smart phone app #which works great# - neither of which I wanted to do. I gave this to my son and he is happy with using the remote as it meets his needs and they have smartphones and also use the app and love this product.

Hard to set up. Not all that universal
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a bit difficult to set up. It's very tedious, especially if you have many devices to set up the remote for.

Garbage
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The smartphone software interface is terrible. I don't always use the iPhone app, but when I do, I end up getting frustrated and using the remote instead.

Great new direction for Logitech
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So this is my fifth Harmony Remote. (880,890,ONE, Ultimate) Up untill this point, the 800 series was by far my favorite. I was not a fan of the ONE, and the Touch/Ultimate, I returned two days after opening it. (LOTs of issues with that remote, but others have written novels on that subject.) I was relieved when I set up the Smart Control, and it worked as advertised. Logitech got everything right. Dual assigned buttons, no screen (I'll expand on why this is a plus later), tons of customization with the app. Where they went wrong was two fold, the system has an IR repeater so that you can set up behind a closet, or cabinet, which would normally be a good thing, the problem is two fold. A. They only have two outputs for the IR extenders, and they only give you one to plug in. B. The standard IR jack size is 3.5 mm (headphone jack size). It is what they have always used, and now it is 2.5. Because I have been a Logitech fan for years, I already have my system setup with the IR cords and repeaters, so it should have been an easy swap, take the new one out of the box, plug into existing IR system and move on with life, unfortunately, I had to purchase 2.5 to 3.5 mm adapters, and then two headphone jack splitrers, to plug in the existing four cables I have running my setup. Now this is not a big deal, which is why I didn't take any stars off. Finally, why not having a screen is a blessing. My first two remotes 880 and 890 would still be with me today if not for the screens. first one took a trip to the floor with the dogs tail and shattered the LCD, the second one fell prey to a glitch after two years of use where the buttons still worked, but the screen did not. Finally, the newer remotes that Logitech makes are all touch, which creates it's own set of problems, accidentally pressing on the screen when picking it up, multiple pages of commands, and a delay or lag when using the touch screen. With the included remote, every button can have two commands, one long and one short, which means you have more than enough customization, that you don't need the screen, and if you do want to do some really custom stuff, the app allows for it. All in all, I was very frustrated with the last few remotes logitech came out with, but as of now, I'm very happy.

Disappointing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a devote Logitech customer. This hub did not plug in and work like other remotes. Too many variables to set up to get it just right.

A really solid Home Theater Solution.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, this Harmony Smart Hub and Remote is a wonderful solution for automating your home theater tasks. In some ways, it's more versatile than previous all-in-one remotes, and in other ways, it's not quite as intuitive. The hub is spectacular, very responsive, and comes with an IR blaster that was a real life saver for us, as our center channel speaker blocked the IR signal to our television. It also sends Bluetooth signals, which is great for PS3/PS4 users. My only issue with this setup, is that you'll have to rely on the phone or tablet apps for a lot of functions, which is not always convenient. The physical remote is very limited in its functionality, especially compared to previous Harmony Remotes. I have to reach for my phone or iPad a lot more often than I would like for certain commands, and for any kind of trouble shooting. Also, the hub's OS updates a lot. I suppose that could be a good thing, but it can get frustrating when you have to wait for it to update before you can perform the task you want. Outside of those minor issues, we've been very happy with this.

Few Setup Complications, but Works Perfectly
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a remote signal option so that my new Yamaha RX-V377 could be operated from the kitchen closet where the speaker connections are, while my TV is mounted over the fireplace in the living area. The Logitech Harmony Smart Control works perfectly, but the setup got a little complex. Although the app automatically detected my Samsung Smart TV that is connected to my home wifi network, it would not turn it off. I wen through the setup again on the app, and it works perfectly now. The app functionality is a nice high tech addition, but I prefer to use the remote. We have DirecTV and it is as if the remote was specifically designed to work with DirecTV, which is perfect. I was shocked it did not automatically detect the DirecTV receiver since it is also on my wifi network. Although I wish I did not have to make this purchase, I am glad it did because it definitely solved my remote transmission problem.
