(Sorry, this may say more about my former keyboard than you need to read.) The key illumination is available when ambient light is low, or on demand, at three levels. If you're a "peek and peck" typist like me, the correct key is easy to find with no additional light. And, this keyboard is affordable, with very reasonable delivery times.

That one however had a blue backlight. This one is just a normal light. So one less star as I loved the blue.

Great wired keyboard

I settled on this one after some research. Now that I have it I am very happy with it. The typing is smooth and I like the illuminated keyboard. With the wired keyboard, I don't have to mess with the issues that come with wireless keyboards. When my computer is on, my keyboard is on - every time!
