Customers are delighted by the ergonomic design, ease of use, and impressive battery life of the MX Vertical mouse. Many appreciate the Bluetooth connectivity and comfortable weight, although some find the size unsuitable and a few have reported issues with the scroll wheel. The high price point is also a recurring concern for some buyers. Positive feedback overwhelmingly focuses on the mouse's comfort and functionality.

Better Than Expected, Mac Software is Clumsy

I would normally watch and read some reviews from hardware sites prior to spending more than $20 on an accessory. Instead I ordered this and then read/watched the reviews afterwards. I was instantly concerned that I would regret the purchase. Many complained that their accuracy suffered when clicking, because the mouse would move mid click as ones finger press would be enough pressure to cause left-ward movement. I got the package in less than 24 hours and was pleasantly surprised to discover that I didn't have this issue. It will probably vary with the user depending upon how hard you're clicking/thrusting with your finger. There was also some concern expressed in many reviews about acclimating to the laser sensor's location under the mouse, but I found it feel pretty natural. The ergonomics are as good as advertised and I was pleased that it comfortably fits in my palm. My pinky doesn't hang off the edge or drag on the desk, although, I could see someone with much larger hands having an issue. It's also surprisingly light. I'm glad I paid for the MX version rather than the cheaper Lift, as the slightly larger surface space and the built in battery feels orate it. In addition to this, switching between computers is a breeze. There's a button on the underside that you can press to switch between three devices, meaning I can quickly move from my personal MacBook to my work computer on the fly. I've detracted a star because, in true Logitech fashion, the Mac support isn't fully baked. There is a firmware updated on the Logitech site, but the MX Vertical isn't supported. It's entirely possible there isn't currently a firmware update, and that support will be added once an update happens, but I have my doubts. There is Mac support for he Logitech Options software, which is what you'll need to download in order to take advantage of the customizable buttons. For those of you used to using gestures on your Mac's track pad, you'll want to use this software. Unfortunately, it's a little unwieldy to set up. There Logi Options, and then there's Logi Options+. The onscreen instructions for setting them up aren't exactly accurate to Mac interface, and you have to set up Options+ in order for the Options software to recognize the mouse. That last part wasn't explained, and I stumbled into it.

A welcome change for productivity and comfort

I’m a pretty heavy PC user. I design and develop apps, regularly use office suites for document creation, and do graphic design on occasion. That makes mouse selection important to me, not only for efficient use, but also comfort. The MX Vertical offers a different design in hopes of providing optimal comfort along with superior control. I always take note of the packaging when I purchase a product. The MX Vertical is nicely wrapped, making you feel the product is well built. Good packaging also gives me an indication of the company’s feeling of their product. In the package, you will find the mouse, a USB Bluetooth receiver, and a USB-C cable. There is also a very brief instruction pamphlet. The mouse is lightweight and very well built, having standard buttons with scroll. Add to that, forward and back buttons and a dynamic button sitting on top. I initially tried to connect the MX Vertical to my PC by using the wire. For some reason, my PC did not detect the device when connected by wire. I disconnected and reconnected several times to no avail. At first, I thought it was my PC, but I tested another device and it was detected without issue. So, I turned it on, and proceeded to connect via Bluetooth – absolutely no issue. I’m not sure what the wired connectivity issue was, but it must be noted. Once connected, the MX Vertical works as expected – like any other mouse. The feel, on the other is a totally different story. This mouse is designed for use with your hand twisted right, thumb up. This releases tension in the wrist and forearm experienced when using a standard mouse. Resting my hand on the mouse felt very different but natural. I was a little reluctant to believe Logitech’s claims, but I could instantly feel the relaxation I could experience with this change. And I think that’s the operative word, change. I had to really think about maintaining the posture necessary to use the MX Vertical properly and really benefit from its design. Sometimes, out of sheer habit, I would allow my wrist to break because I have habitually used a standard mouse for years, along with using a wonderful trackball that I love. This feels somewhat like the trackball, but movement is required. After using the mouse for a couple of hours, I began to feel a lot more comfortable with it. I thought about the grip posture much less and began to feel a tad bit more relaxed. Another adjustment I had to make was just pulling my hand from the mouse to type on the keyboard. Because of its height, I often tipped the MX over or knocked it left. This is minor, but notable because transitioning from a standard mouse is a big part using this one. As far as use is concerned, the mouse performs very well. It is precise and responsive. I really like the top button which defaults to adjusting the pointer speed on the fly – a useful feature. Logitech also offers software to improve the experience. Although the MX Vertical is a very good mouse without this software, I recommend you install Logitech Options. This will open the mouse settings and options allowing customization that is second to none. All buttons are on deck for assignment, and there is a plethora of options to choose from. Also, if you are someone who uses multiple PCs simultaneously (all you IT guys know what I mean), Logitech allows the MX to connect to multiple PCs and move from screen to screen across connected devices. Yes! This is one of the coolest features I have experienced with a peripheral. Now, you just need a way to get a single keyboard to do the same thing. Overall, the MX Vertical is a great mouse that is different, but worth the investment of both money and time. The relaxed feel can’t help but be noticed (and beneficial) and it holds its own against any mouse from a functionality standpoint. Add to that the Logitech Options software and its provided flexibility, and you have a can’t miss product.

I've been using another vertical ergonomic mouse at work for a number of years, and after getting used to it, I missed it at home. I got a portable MX series mouse last year, so I became interested when the MX Vertical came out. The MX series is the best Logitech offered thus far. Ergonomics: A vertical mouse does feel more comfortable when used for long hours. It can be a matter of preference, but I became convinced after using one at work. The mouse has a rubberized surface all around, except for the buttons, and has a rib pattern that makes the mouse slide without having to apply pressure. Someone used to a flat mouse shouldn't find much issue getting used to this. Buttons are on the expected position, except more vertical. It has the typical left and right buttons, the clickable scroll wheel and on the right side two navigation buttons and a multi-function button on top. It slides effortlessly, and the wheel feels right to the touch, with a clicking feedback. However I find that the wheel should slide with less effort, and this mouse does not have the free wheel mode that other MX series mice have. I wear medium sized gloves and while the mice feels good, it seems that it was made for larger hands. Connectivity: The battery is rechargeable, and it uses an USB-C port. The USB-A to USB-C is included, and it works as a wired mice when the cable is connected to the computer, while charging. On the bottom of the mouse there is a power switch and a connection button. The mice can be paired to three different computers, either via Bluetooth or an Unifying receiver, and It comes with one USB-A receiver. Note that the mice, like other MX series utilizes Bluetooth-LE (BLE), which consumes less energy, so it needs a minimum Bluetooth 4.0 on the computer for it to work. Software: While no additional software is really required, the Logitech Options software that's available for free download on macOS and Windows is used for customizations (Buttons, speed, etc), updates and Logitech's 'flow': It works with Logitech keyboards and/or mice that supports what Logitech calls 'flow': All the computers that use the same mouse and/or keyboard, when used at the same time communicate with each other through this software (and Wi-Fi or Ethernet), which makes the mouse switch computers when crossing a defined corner on the screen, literally making them work like a single computer (The connection indicator on the mouse automatically changes to the active computer). Also the clipboard can be set to be shared between them, regardless of running either macOS or Windows. The clipboard is shared over Wi-Fi, and copying either images or text works fine.

Worth trying, but don’t give up too soon

I’m one who can tell you that this is worth giving a try. Why? I’ve had trigger finger, hand injections, etc. so I can tell you that is no fun and have been told it is from excessive mouse use. And that is a true statement. What can you do? I’ve tried trackballs, ergo mice, etc. and nothing seemed to make a difference, until now. This mouse does something completely different from all those other options. You basically find your hand in a positive position for success and everything feels so much better this way. Plus you find you don’t have the amount of movement that you would have with a traditional mouse. The right and left click buttons are on either side of the incredibly awesome typical Logitech scroll wheel. It takes a bit of brain training to get it feeling normal but when it does you realize this feels so much better than other options you may have tried. You may want to try this before you get trigger finger because it is harder to deal with fixing than preventing it. The angle is good, it feels right. Connection is Bluetooth or using the included multiple device dongle that plugs into your usb slot. Both work great. Download the software for more options and ways monitor and customize the mouse. It has a rechargeable battery that charges with a usb-c connector. Charging cable included but not a charger, very typical of today’s devices. Charge is rated at months with a full charge and I believe it based on how long their normal mouse runs on alkaline batteries. Like getting your feet used to a new pair of shoes, this will take time to get used to. Don’t give up, give it time. It will work well for you I’m sure.

I initially bought this cause I was having constant hand pain using a standard mouse at work. As I was looking at options, this unique vertical design caught my eye and after some research gave it a try. I'm now writing this review after 2 years of use and my hands feel so much better. It did take a little bit of time to get used to it but within weeks my hand felt better. Especially as a person with bigger hands and work in IT, I needed something comfortable and reliable. Also the battery life on this is superb! I have honestly only hand to charge this a few times in the 2 years i have had it, and thats with average 8 hour use during the work week.

Working at My Standing Desk and Sofa is Easy

Got to use my mouse for working this evening and when i'm at home it is comfort that i'm looking for because I want to be able to lounge on my sofa, watch shows and that usually means working on different terrains from my work desk to blankets. Setup and easy to use is the first thing to address because I'm used to working with a mouse on a horizontal plane and this is my first ergonomic mouse. I'm still a bit indifferent about the grip because part of me feels like it's a handle that I can't let go and I really anticipated a locked-in type of grip. I love that I can sync it via Bluetooth with three different computers where I can switch between with the push of a button under the mouse. Anyway, the mouse comes with a Logitech's software that you can tailor the buttons with which was really good to use and again very, very easy. My favorite part about the MX mouse is the fact that I can use it while plugged into the USB-C wire, Bluetooth and the unifying receiver so lots to choose from. Design for me is very important and this mouse has the office asking fun questions about how pretty and chic it looks on the desk! I hope this helps.

I am at a desk using a mouse a lot so I was excited that after many years of the same old mouse design, there was something new and potentially better on the market. This mouse does look very different than the typical PC mouse. You hold it almost in the same way you would shake a hand. This is supposed to be less stressful on your wrist and put your hand in a more relaxed position. After using it for a few days, I will say that I prefer the vertical mouse to my regular mouse at home...I may have to get another one! I love that you can connect this to as many as 3 different devices as I have two computers at home and one at my office. All computers have bluetooth so i connected it through that which could not have been easier. I like the new Logitech software much better than the old unifying software as well. The button options are great and it allows you to do a lot more multitasking than a normal mouse. I really have no complaints about it, I'm looking forward to using it more.

Logitech quality and features in a new form

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Logitech was gracious enough to provide one of their new MX Vertical mice for me to review. I've spent over a week using it as my daily mouse, and I consider it to be another solid mouse from Logitech. Ultimately, I think the new (for Logitech) form factor is its greatest strength and weakness. Clearly, the form factor of this mouse is its selling point amongst Logitech's fleet of input devices. It takes the guts of their high quality MX Master and puts it into a vertically-oriented mouse body - yes, the buttons are now on the right side. In turn, this leaves your hand in a more natural, handshake-like position while using the MX Vertical. The shape feels a bit reminiscent to me of some of Logitech's older trackball designs, and like trackballs, the ergonomic argument for using the MX Vertical is strong. I found it much easier to adapt to a slightly different mouse grip, however, than I ever found it to use a desktop trackball. I think many people are going to find this form to be a nice middle ground. All of the nice features of the MX line are here. It can pair with up to 3 computers, and Logitech's software even allows you to switch your active Logitech input devices between multiple computers that you may have side-by-side on your desktop. This isn't something I've utilized yet, but it is an interesting feature to have. I have used the multi-computer pairing, though, and it works perfectly for me. On top of that, the device has a high quality finish, and the mechanical aspects (buttons and scroll wheel) feel very nice. In the last year, I did have a Logitech mouse's scroll wheel begin to behave erratically. That mouse was not in the MX series, so I'm cautiously optimistic the hardware is a step up on this mouse, but I'll be keeping an eye on it. The battery life is perfectly fine. I only charged it once since opening it (didn't even full-charge it out of the box and got several days usage from it). The mouse actually has a USB-C port on it rather than the USB micro-B port Logitech has generally used until now. It comes with a USB A-to-C cable for charging (and to use the mouse while charging). This won't help anyone who only has USB-C ports, though that's fairly rare to see yet. I do commend Logitech on future-proofing the connector choice. While I overall am pleased with the form factor, I did observe a few downsides - none of which are serious, or to which I'm not adapting. First, it makes the mouse considerable taller than a standard one. One of my desks has a sliding keyboard tray, and this mouse was too big to fit on top of the tray when pushed into the desk. The mouse surface area also feels somewhat bigger than a traditional one, perhaps just due to the alignment and not having as much of a flat surface to rest my hand on. Last, and probably the most significantly for me, is that pressing on the side of the mouse to click (rather than the top) produces a lateral force that often shifts the pointer every so slightly. This sometimes causes the computer operating system to interpret a double click as two separate clicks with a small amount of movement in between. I've gotten better at avoiding this, but it still happens for me. A traditional top-button mouse produces downward force that if anything helps pin the mouse in place. I might be able to adjust the mouse sensitivity for this, but it would be nice feature if the Logitech software could help specifically dampen sensitivity to these slight movements. Overall, I'm calling this mouse very good. I think the form factor may not be everyone's preference; if you already experience discomfort or fatigue from mouse use, though, I think it's definitely worth trying the form of this mouse in a store. If it's more comfortable for you, it is probably easily worth the missing star to be a 5/5. For everyone else, it's a fine mouse with only minor quirks due to the form factor. I'd recommend anyone curious about it try it in person before committing to a fairly hefty purchase, but it is worth a look for anyone dissatisfied with traditional mouse shapes.

The Logitech - MX Vertical Wireless Optical Mouse is great! I've suffered carpal tunnel for some time now. Right before receiving this, I was using my computer with a regular mouse and my wrist started to hurt. Once I received it, I immediately installed it and noticed right away that the pain started to go away. The natural handshake grip is so much better than the traditional mouse grip. As fir the setup, it is as easy as installing the usb drive, turn the mouse on, and you are ready to go. The only downside I experienced with the Logitech - MX Vertical Wireless Optical Mouse is that it's tall and will bump on my desks metal railing in my sliding key board, but I highly recommend the Logitech - MX Vertical Wireless Optical Mouse.

Great for avoiding carpel tunnel problems

The Logitech MX Vertical Wireless Optical Mouse puts your hand in a more normal position, eliminating a lot of the strain associated with repeated mouse movements. I found that to be true for the most part. The mouse, like all Logitech mice, is smooth, with programmable buttons to quickly get to the things you do the most. I did, however, notice more strain on my elbow when I first started to use it. Over time I learned how to hold the mouse and the strain went away. There is a tendency to want to squeeze when pressing buttons. I found that was not necessary as the weight of your hand on the mouse keeps the mouse from moving. If you've have had carpel tunnel issues in the past, or if you use your computer for hours every day, the Logitech MX Vertical Wireless Optical Mouse could save you a lot of pain.

    Unique Mouse, works well

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First thing's first, The MX Vertical is a great mouse, as far as the core functions of what a mouse should do. This is a top of the line logitech mouse and I'm not sure there are better (non-gaming) mouses than the MX line. They work very well. The MX Vertical has 5 buttons, a right and left click and 3 additional buttons. There are two buttons on the side, your standard back and forward buttons that can also be remapped to any keyboard combination you want as well as a whole host of preset options within logitech's software. The lat button is on top of the mouse and by default it will adjust the cursor speed on the computer but, it can also be remapped like the other two buttons. There is also a scroll wheel that works great, suppper smooth. The mouse is extremely smooth to use on a table. It has a really high dpi that makes it really accurate. Battery life is supposed to be a few months. I've had it a few weeks so, I can't really say much about it, other than it hasn't died. I do like that it uses a rechargeable battery and comes with it's own usb c charging cable that will allow you to use the mouse as a wire mouse when the battery is dead. The Shape. This is the real reason you're looking at this mouse. Logitech touts it as a more ergonomic mouse. I'm not sure that my hand is anymore comfortable than using a standard ergonomic (non-vertical) mouse but, my hand doesn't hurt so I can't say it isn't working. It is definitely a unique feel which I think could be pretty polarizing. My biggest problem with this shape is how big it makes the mouse, it's huge. I keep all my computer accessories in my laptop bag and this thing takes up some space. Connectivity. This mouse has 3 methods of connectivity. There is a removable wire if you need to use it in wired mode when the battery is dead. There is a usb receiver that works like any other wireless mouse. Although I don't like that this mouse doesn't have a place to store the receiver like some mouses do. The receiver is small and could be very easy to lose. This is the connection method I use and haven't had any problems with connection. The mouse also features bluetooth connectivity which I could not get to work consistently. I'm not sure if it had something to do with my laptop, windows 10, or the mouse but, every time I would lock the computer the mouse would disconnect and most of the time wouldn't reconnect unless I unpaired the mouse from the computer. I found this really frustrating and it makes the last feature of this mouse really useless. On the bottom of the mouse there is a button to switch between 3 preset devices, so you can have this mouse connected to 3 different computers and switch between them. If you're using the usb receiver, that counts as one of the presets. Since the bluetooth method would not work for me I found no use in this feature but, in theory it could provide some great functionality. This mouse also comes with Logitech flow which allows you to transfer files from one computer to the other just by dragging the file of screen and onto the other computer. It really is some black magic type computer stuff. If you can get the multi connections to work.

Good For Some, Not For Me

I thought that this mouse was going to be one of those items that total changed the way I thought about mice. Unfortunately, it missed the mark for me. First, let me say that the build quality of the mouse is very nice. It has a nice quality texture to the surface, buttons feel solid (but responsive), and the scroll wheel felt nice. So for quality Logitech gets high marks. Setup was also quite easy either via the included USB C cable, bluetooth, or the included unifying receiver. Plug and play. The buttons/features can be customized via an app to suit your needs and desires. Unfortunately, using the mouse just didn't feel natural to me. Logitech may be right that the vertical handshake position is the more natural resting position for a wrist, but I found it odd to use. I'm sure I'll get use to it as time goes by. Still, the way my desk is setup, I found myself having to provide more support or hold my arm in a more awkward position so that my hand rested properly on the mouse. Again, maybe this is something that I'll get used to and train myself into doing more naturally. In conclusion, I think this is one of those products that may be life changing for those with wrist issues due to using a mouse. People will just need to try it and decide if they like it or not. The people at Logitech were smart and actually designed the packaging so that you can put your hand around it as if you were using it without having to take it out. My advice, give it a try. You may love it. It wasn't for me. Pros: *Build quality *Feel of the soft plastic, buttons, and scroll wheels *Innovative design Cons: *For a mouse, it isn't cheap *It just didn't feel natural for me, but that may improve with time. I suspect this is a highly personal preference so it will be different for each person.

I was starting to get pain on the bottom of my wrist with a traditional mouse. I Wanted something more vertical, but nothing on the market that I tried really did the trick. I just bought this and so far, I have no pain in my wrist while using it. Hopefully I can circumvent carpal tunnel. Get this! Bought mine for $99 new.

The purpose of a vertical mouse ultimately is comfort. It is not a gaming mouse so it should be understood up front that the precision of this mouse while it scans the surface beneath will yield a fair amount of accuracy, suitable for everyday computing and browsing as I experienced. The key is the handshake position of your hand, that I did feel resulted in less fatigue and felt very comfortable right away. What I did find however is that during the first several hours of usage, it did seem that the mouse moved less smoothly over the surface. I believe this was only due to me getting used to the arm and hand movements being different from using a normal mouse. Don’t judge the mouse too soon, because you will find that your hand, wrist and arm will sort of subconsciously adjust for the different feel and you will be fine. It has a nice textured surface which feels solid and fits your hand really well. It is for right hand only. You do have features that allow you to easily change the speeds and also to use this mouse smoothly with multiple displays. I’d advise you to download the Logitech Options app and this will enhance your ability to modify the mouse functions. It does come with a USB C charging cable and that is a nice step up. Another feedback item is that I used the mouse with the charging cable attached and when I removed the cable and used it as a wireless mouse, it seemed it moved more smoothly over my mousepad (which was just a piece of carpet). You may experience this also. I would suggest that a regulation-mousepad with a smoother surface will be better for you with this mouse. It is designed as a wireless mouse and you can use a dongle or connect via Bluetooth to free up a USB port. This mouse is expensive but if you suffer with fatigue or aches when using a conventional mouse, I certainly would highly recommend it; it really does feel natural.
