    Wireless Control Knob ruins experience

    Posted .

Logitech really dropped the ball on these speakers and it has nothing to do with the audio quality. Sound wise they are fine. What you would expect from mid range Logitech speakers. Nice bass and nice highs. But the complete and utter failure for these speakers... the reason I am taking them back to the store is the control puck. That wireless control puck is a nightmare. You have to wait for it to connect to the speakers... IF it will connect. Then there's a delay between your movement of the knob and the audio changing. It's not 1:1 to how fast you spin the knob to how fast the audio changes. I have had a lot of Logitech speakers for various uses over the years but who ever thought that puck was a good idea should have been fired.

      Hello FeralTerminator,
I am sorry that the Z407 is not meeting your expectations. Feel free to try other Logitech speaker sets such as the G333 that do not have the same wireless feature; you may be better off with a traditional design. I will record your product review and pass it on. Logitech appreciates your product review. - Leo from Logitech

It sounds really good and so far I have not problems. Although it would be nice if you could hang it on the wall.

      Hello Tanner,
I apologize for the audio issue that you have experienced; I would like to help. This sounds like an issue with the audio settings. Can you please try changing the audio output settings to “Stereo Uncompressed”? I have attached a link to the “Getting Started” guide for the Z407 speakers for your reference, and also a link to the Xbox support page for “Choosing audio settings in Xbox”. Please feel welcome to visit the Logitech support page if you need any further assistance with your Z407 2.1 Bluetooth Computer Speaker System with Wireless Control (3-Piece).

    Nice Entry Level 2.1 Setup

This is a nice entry level set of speakers. For my taste there a little too much treble and not quite enough bass without having to fiddle with equalization, but I'm super picky when it comes to sound. The average user will likely find these more than sufficient though. It works well enough, but I can't honestly say that I'm a fan of the external wireless control hockey puck control module. I'd much rather have all of that functionality built right into one of the speakers. I tend to play/pause and adjust my volume levels at the device level and not centrally. That said I could see how the form factor could appeal to people and even be a reason for picking up a set of these. All in all, for what you get at the $60 price point I would say Logitech did a good job with this set. I am actually giving 2 as Christmas gifts this year. One for my nephew's computer setup and the other is for my in-law's basic 2.1 AV setup in their den since the sound is leaps and bounds better than what comes out of their TV.

no headphones - fails without batteries

There are two problems with this system. You cannot plug in headphones or a mic, and you need batteries, so if they run down, you will not be able to change the volume up or down. They do sounds great, so if the other issues don't bother you, it may not matter.

    Crackle pop pop

Terrible. I've had these since they came out. Would be fine if the sub didn't crackle and pop all the time and ruin the sound. Do research it's a common defect with these. You might get lucky, buy at your own risk. I'm giving mine away. I liked the puck, sound is decent when it's not crackling. Disappointed in the quality control. Not worth the full price, wait for a sale.

    Power Issues Sends, Constant Popping

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Google Z407 popping before buying theses; eventually the power supply will fail and will cause feedback to be sent over to the USB cable interfering with your computer as well as a loud popping sound on the speakers themselves. There's an apparent design issue not being addressed by Logitech on these.

    Decent sound, awful design

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

These speakers are really held back by how awful the cheaply made puck is the only thing that can control the volume and the fact that they go into some hibernation mode after not receiving any audio signals for a time. Every morning now I need to blast something out of the speakers to get them to "wake up" and they will still turn off during the middle of me working at the computer unless I have constant audio. Not considering logitech as a series brand of pc speakers going forward.

We're sorry about the experience you've had. Try resetting the speakers, to restore the default settings, long-press the Bluetooth button and the wired input button at the same time for eight seconds until you hear the reset tone — the LED will blink twice and then glow solid. Your speaker and dial are now connected.
