I have not had or I should say really used a dedicated “computer’ set since my very old altec lansing speaker set. That was very good quality with quality materials, this is not but still very good given the price point. I love the wireless remote, I love the overall sound volume to fill my 12 by 14 foot carpeted home office, the bass sound is pretty darn good as well. Setup is a breeze, connections are rock solid and the wireless remote works flawlessly with very good range. At the price point, the quality build is very acceptable and if on sale would be an absolute steal.

I didn't realized this set actually had a wireless puck controller until I got it home and started setting things up. I usually avoid speakers with pucks like this because the controllers make cable management just that much more difficult. These were super easy to set up, the controller is great, and they sound amazing for the price.

These Logitech Z407 speakers deliver as advertised - crystal clear sound with good depth, deep booming bass, and powerful enough to fill a mid-sized room. I listen to a wide variety of music and I found that these speakers sound good no matter genre. These speakers have three modes of connection, Bluetooth, USB, and 3.5mm jack, giving them great versatility. I tested the Bluetooth connectivity on my PC, smartphone, and Bluetooth turntable. They paired with ease on all three. Currently I have them connected to my PC with the 3.5mm jack while at the same time paired with my Bluetooth turntable. So with the press of a button I can switch from listening to a playlist on my PC to listening to an album on my turntable. The wireless remote is a great convenience as it is multi-function and controls everything. The volume control and bass mode control allows for fine tuning of the sound. The mode buttons allow switching from 3.5mm to Bluetooth to USB so it can play from 3 different devices with the press of a button without having to change any physical connections. While in Bluetooth or USB mode it allows you pause, play, skip or go back which is nice when listening to a playlist. When using the 3.5mm jack connection you can mute and unmute. Overall, you great sound and versatility at a low price point, making these speakers an excellent buy.

I bought these off the Logitech website but they don't have a review section so I'm leaving one here. I needed some compact speakers that sounded good and these are definitely the best sounding set of speakers and sub that you can get for this price. To be clear, I have these set up to the monitor outputs on a focusrite 2i2 through a 3.5mm to stereo rca from the sub, and an RCA cable to an RCA to 1/4'' into the focusrite monitor outs. My particular set came with no manual for set up in the box so I had to look online for one since it wasn't really clear how these speakers with no on/off button work. Upon plugging them in, all the alert tones are unnecessarily loud. When I set these up downstairs, everyone upstairs can hear these tones clearly. When you plug them in, a loud tone. Volume at max or min, a loud tone. Setting up Bluetooth, another high pitched and loud tone. These are advertised as computer speakers, I'm most likely going to be sitting right infront of them, the tones don't need to be THAT loud. The wireless volume control is cool but way over-complicated and missing basic features that seem obvious to add but for some reason aren't there. There is no indication of what level the volume is set, and since the wireless volume control piece adjust the volume separately from the computer and not the computer volume itself, it would be nice to know if I'm at 50% or 100% or 0% or whatever. The play/pause control doesn't actually play or pause but it actually just mutes and unmutes the audio at the speaker level, not at the computer. Nothing indicates this control in the manual and for a while I thought the speakers were just not working until I just tried it wondering if that was the issue. There is also no indicator if you're in pause or play mode on the volume dial. There is an LED light but it really just seems to indicate whether you're in bluetooth mode (while light but could've been blue because duh.) or AUX mode which is purple for some reason (which could've been white.) or if your turning the volume dial to remind you what mode you're in (because I really need that...)A flashing light of some sort like 2 quick flashes would be a nice indicator for when the sound is paused/muted. My biggest issue that I cannot figure out and if it becomes a big enough issue I might just end up returning these is that they turn themselves off in the middle of using them mainly while playing a game with quiet audio or low volume ambient sound, and to get them to output audio again I have to press the play and pause button twice or play a video with loud audio. It's happened about 3 times in using them for 2 day. Funny enough it just happened right now while I was writing this section of the review. It would be nice to decide when I turn off the speakers instead of it deciding for me. Nobody likes auto shutoff features when they're added to speakers, the manual has no indication that it has an auto shut off mode to begin with. I'm pretty sure this is the case with this issue I'm having. Yeah I wouldn't recommend these for regular computer use. I do really like the sound for the size of the speakers and they're a heck of a lot better than my computer monitors 1 watt speakers. But I cannot stand this wireless dial, the audio control having 0 indicator of how loud or quiet the volume is or if I'm in play or pause. And worst of all, auto shutting off that wasn't indicated in the advertising or manual. They're just computer speakers guys, make them sound good, and allow me to know if I'm at 0% or 100% volume, that's all people need.

    Almost a great budget system

Alright. Hear me out. The Logitech z407 is a great speaker system for the money, but, there are much better options. While this sound system will satisfy a first-time customer (like myself), use of the system for more than a week will reveal it's many quirks. I returned this system today and exchanged it for the logitech z533, which is about 20 dollars more (I'll write a review on that one once I've had it for a while). Here's why: Poor highs: When I bought this system, I was mainly excited for having a dedicated sub-woofer (or speakers) for the first time, so my initial use of the system was playing a lot of bassy songs. The sound system sounded great to the untrained ear, but, when I logged onto my online classes and started watching recorded lectures the next day, I was confronted with a consistently bassy, distorted tone when playing back human speech. While the mids and lows perform very well for what this system aims to do, this system simply doesn't have the range where it counts. A popping subwoofer: After about 3-4 days of use, I started to hear a recurring popping noise coming from the subwoofer. There was no coorelation as to what the speakers were doing and the frequency of the popping; it was intermittent and highly concerning. The issue can be resolved by unplugging the system from power and plugging it back in, but from what I have read, this issue is recursive and common amongst this product. I have mild concern for the longevity of the product's life. Pros: I gave this system 3 stars because it does have it's charm. Logitech put a lot of thought into adding lots of nifty features that make using this system very pleasing; the wireless controller is relatively nice (though a dedicated bass controller would be nice), the ease of switching back and forth from different devices and inputs, and Bluetooth connectivity in general. I also enjoyed that the speakers fit underneath my monitor when they were put into the horizontal position. The slate gray finish, a common sight amongst logitech products, contributed to the minimalist feel that the system gave. However, a minimalist sound system should be able to do it all. This one simply cannot. I have high hopes for the z533, a similar, more powerful system that costs only 20 dollars more. The highs are phenomenal, the controls are much more thought out, and the system just feels much more premium, more than I was expecting for a relatively small increase in price (I'm disappointed in the lack of Bluetooth in the z533, so if that's a must, the z407 might be the move for you). Thanks for reading this review. I'll be writing one for the 533 in a few days, so stay tuned.

I wanted these speakers to replace the generic set given to me at my office and boy am I glad I did! They are sleek and high quality. Everything you would expect from Logitech. The “puck” used to control music and volume is convenient. With it being wireless, it can be moved anywhere. I also like the fact that the speakers connect to the subwoofer with RCA connections. This makes it easy to add additional length if needed. For sound quality, all I can say is wow! We listen to a lot of interviews in my job. The speakers are crisp and clean making it easy to hear people even when there is an echo present from the room where it was recorded. I also like the ability to change the speaker stand from horizontal to vertical. I can’t really say anything bad about these speakers. I would definitely recommend them to a friend.

I tried this out on a smaller TV we had and although it worked fine, we ended up pairing it with a desktop PC we have. We also have tested and found that it worked well with our phones. This is a really versatile combination with full sound and a size/build format that allows it to be placed just about anywhere. Having a remote with a little different look and layout was a good thing - I didn't have to look twice to determine which one to grab. The ability to orient the satellite speakers was nice and helped with arrangement on my desk. The sub is good quality for it's size and the cable length worked well for my setup also. I had been looking for a good replacement to the old PC speakers and this was just the right fit for me.

These are the best pair if speakers i’ve used for my computer. The three part set of left and right channel speakers and the subwoofer makes listening to music or watching movies and even gaming a really fun experience. The sound quality is great and it was super easy to set up. My favorite prt is that it can wire directly to my computwr with an AUX cord that is included or I can bluetooth to my phone.

Logitech seems to be on a roll these days with one after another great product. Their newest Bluetooth enabled computer speakers, the Z407, is another hit. No, these aren’t the world’s leader in high-end sound, but at $80, they are an amazing value in a 2.1 system. They are good enough that I have retired my trusty older Altec Lansing speakers. All that said, what are the pluses and minuses? They have a nice slightly understated look. The sub-woofer is much smaller than you would expect for the sound it can produce. The right and left speakers have stands that can be switched to use them vertically or horizontally giving versatility in placement. Even though they are light plastic enclosures with just a single driver, they do the job with amazing presence, and they are perfectly matched to the woofer. The real extra is that they can be connected by Bluetooth, USB, or to your headphone or speaker jack. The wireless little control puck controls volume in all modes. Pressing it controls track forward, track back and pause when connected via Bluetooth or USB. There are buttons on the bottom to switch inputs and pair Bluetooth devices. Additionally, a long press puts it in bass volume control mode. The multiple connections and switching make these guys very versatile, and it’s one of the big pluses. The only drawback I found was a lot of latency when using a Bluetooth connection with a computer, but that that’s a Windows issue. Most phones use better codecs and latency isn’t a problem. Because of this, I ended up preferring the USB connection with my computer. The sound is very good. I did a switch back and forth comparison with my Altec speakers. Although the Altec woofer at twice the size had a little more thunder, the Logitech was tighter and didn’t muddle the mid and high range. The real difference was the excellent clarity and presence of the right and left speakers. While this system isn’t built to fill a concert hall, it has plenty of power. It’s a great match for computers and modest-sized rooms. Considering how various music tracks and sources can vary significantly in volume, I found the little wireless control puck a real plus by letting you quickly make adjustments or pause playback. I like these speakers, and they now have a permanent place on my desk. I don’t know of anything on the market that comes close for the price. Highly recommended.

    Mid-centric sound, knob a bust

[ Sound Quality ] These speakers are quite mid-range-centric, having a deep sound profile. The low range sounds decent enough but falls a bit short on bass-heavy audio. The high range falls the shortest, with vocals often sounding muffled and hollow. Compared to a pair of 2.1 channel computer speakers (satellites + subwoofer) that I paid slightly less for than this unit retails for, over 20 years ago, my old speakers have a much flatter sound profile and have a much clearer high range, providing much crisper vocals and a better music-listening experience. This unit is more suited for movies, television, and gaming. I’m a sucker for the high range, so I was a bit disappointed, but this unit still sounds much better than what you’d get from much more expensive soundbars (which isn’t saying much). The volume range is adequate for desktop PC use. [ Connectivity ] Bluetooth connectivity is a nice option to have, but the input latency was too high for any usage other than listening to music. With gaming and video, the audio/video desync was too disruptive for me. I didn’t experience any problems with the included 3.5mm stereo cable; no noticeable electrostatic hum or electromagnetic interference (EMI). This feels like rolling dice, though, as I’ve had so many problems with 3.5 stereo connections among many other audio devices that I’ve used over the years, including very new devices. The underlying mechanics of the technology that supports this connectivity are crude and prone to problems, so modern digital alternatives are preferred. The USB connection should theoretically be the superior option, but since a USB cable wasn’t included, I didn’t test that option. I could have borrowed a micro-USB cable from another device, but thought I’d make a point instead: Logitech, if you wanted us to test USB, you really should have provided the tech insiders with a USB cable, especially when that is the best connectivity option available. This unit noticeably lacks a headphone port. [ Control ] I completely fail to understand Logitech’s recent predilection with unwieldy knobs, and to me, it doesn’t even begin to make sense for this application. The knob is light and has too easy a tendency to slide about. The tap, double-tap, triple-tap, and long-press shenanigans, as well as the Bluetooth pairing and input switching buttons being secreted away on the bottom side of the knob, all seem incredibly absurd when a proper remote control would have provided a quicker, more direct, and more intuitive controlling experience. I would even have preferred on-speaker controls, as at least then I’d be able to see what the volume and bass levels are set to (though the volume level would only apply to 3.5mm stereo connectivity), where-as these levels remain a mystery with this unit. And there’s no redundancy, so if/when a battery leak destroys the control knob (which, unfortunately, is practically an inevitability given enough time), I guess I’ll be sorry out of luck. I didn’t notice any way to turn these speakers off (aside from pulling the power cord), and it doesn’t appear to go into a standby sleep mode, which suggests this may be a bit of an energy vampire. [ Conclusion ] Even though I’m not fond of the sound profile of these speakers, they’ll probably sound fine to the majority of users. What I can’t get past, however, is the control knob being the only method of control available, and having an extremely cumbersome design. Some people may appreciate the novelty of a wireless control knob, but from a pure practicality standpoint, I’m going to give these speakers a pass.

The Logitech Z407 bluetooth speaker system arrived in easy open packaging. It included a really nice sized, well built subwoofer for a computer speaker system as well as two front speakers that can be positioned on their sides to push the music under your monitor or standing up on their ends both with the included bracket stand. It also included a wireless remote that is easy to use once you get familiar with it. There is a 3.5mm cable to connect to your computer if you want or you can use bluetooth or USB. I found the 3.5mm cable to provide much better sound than bluetooth for my Windows 10 computer but others may find that to be different. I think that may be due to my computer seeing the speakers as headphones. I also found the sound to be really great using bluetooth and my iPhone. The bass is excellent and the mids and highs are clear and pronounced even on my computer. I ran a speaker test using my computer and found that there is little to no distortion. Overall these speakers have excellent sound at all volumes and especially for the price point. These speakers are good enough to also use with a TV for room filling sound.

The sound of the Logitech z407 speaker system is phenomenal. However, the battery life for the wireless desktop controller is abysmal. I do love the fact that I can connect my z407 to my Alexa and listen to music through Amazon music. I like the fact that should I have need of it I have a micro USB port to plug another device into, and I love the fact that it is meant for computers and can connect through a 3.5 mm jack. That being said, I do believe that the two AAA batteries that are in the wireless controller should last longer than 3 to 4 weeks before being completely discharged. That is also using the higher quality Energizer batteries. Also a small side note, I do wish that the subwoofer had come with a bass control knob so that I could turn down the bass.

Sound quality muffled. Needed to tweak eq to get it somewhat ok. What they don't tell you, is you have to press the remote for at least 2 seconds to adjust the subwoofer level. Out of the box, it was way too bassy. Still trying to tweak the eq.

I normally love logitech items and have bought several different things from them in the past and have loved them all. These speakers started off great. I loved the nice little remote and the look of all the speakers. However, not too long after purchasing the set, my sub started making popping noises. No sound has to be coming out for it to make the popping noise and it's quite annoying. I've done everything I can think of to stop the popping but nothing has worked. Unfortunately, I would return the item and exchange it for something different but lost the receipt and didn't feel like going through the trouble. I also do wish there was a way for me to control the speakers if the remote runs out of batteries and I currently do not have any to replace them. All that being said they do have a good sound.
