Crashes my entire WIFI each time it is turned on.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Camera system is very good but takes so much of the 2.4 GH band that it crashes my Wifi. I have to turn off camera system to use my WIFI each day. Best Buy only wants to give an instore credit after 3 weeks of use because I don't have the boxes.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.not good if you don't have outlets in places that you are going to be able to connect cameras for outside use.

Posted .Hello Veck,
Thank you for your feedback on the system - if an outlet is not directly available, the cameras can be run using outdoor extension cords (or consult with a local electrician to assist with installing outdoor power outlets near to the cameras).
Thanks, Lorex

Home security camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Looks simple, not simple. Not wireless, each camera still has to plugged in to electrical outlet. Program set time consuming, never could get program for iPhone and iPad to load and function.
No, I would not recommend this to a friendBrand response from LorexTechnology
Posted .Hello,
Thank you for your feedback about the product. The cameras transmit wireless video on a secure FHSS signal - a long run of video cable between the camera and DVR unit is not required. The cameras do require constant power, and are plugged into an electrical outlets.
The system is very configurable (for example, each camera can be set up to record in motion, continuous or on a schedule to meet specific security requirements), and all menus are displayed onscreen in a graphical interface. Once the settings are completed, you would generally not need to change them in the future. For assistance with your network setup and remote viewing, please contact our technical support for help with your iPhone.
Thanks, Lorex

EXCELLENT OVERALL
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an excellent product which unfortunately frustrates people which I agree is an issue. The basic issue of WIFI conflict is real but to educate you guys most wireless surveillance camera runs on 2.4ghz signal of which if you are using a modem/router with the same signal will just kill it. I COMPLETELY AGREE. But there is a way to resolve this and I did it on my own. Not even Lorex customer service recommended this but the only way to resolve the problem is to change your modem/router to dual band AC type. I purchase a Netgear Modem/Router AC band which gives you 2 signals 2.4ghz and 5.0ghz. Connect your laptop, cell phone to 5.0ghz and your problem is gone. Leave the 2.4 for your surveillance camera use. This is the only way to resolve the conflict. Now if you own an older laptop, easy just buy the AC usb adapter Netgear, Asus etc. for $50 bucks and connect with ease using the 5.0ghz signal. There is nothing wrong with the product, the only way is to find a solution. A little more investment but is it worth it? DEFINITELY. I now can fully utilize my internet wireless speed and enjoying my surveillance camera.

There has to be better stuff for this $$$
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First understand wireless cameras mean, the video portion is wireless but you must run power to each camera. Second the cameras are cheap plastic and one failed within 4 hours of installation. Verified power several ways. It's kaput. The night vision is very good and good distance. The user interface is a pain to access and is not intuitive. Must have a separate monitor unless you have one with multiple inputs. The app is klunky at best and doesn't connect easily. I don't know what I am going to do with the camera, it's not as if I am going to uninstall the whole system and best buy doesn't carry individual cameras in stores. Serial number shows this unit is a year old so hope I don't get difficulty with warranty even though I bought it today. I will say that you can block areas of view from triggering a motion sense in the main set up screen which is nice because a portion of the street is in view and every car would trigger an event, but I was able to remove that as a trigger point and still view it.

Very Ugly Wall Ornaments
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The concept and packaging of this project got my credit card purchase very easily. But that has been the ONLY positive to date. The cameras clog all 2.4 transmissions. If I want to protect all my electronics throughout my house with a security system, it cannot be this one. It is either I have Wi-Fi for everything else or JUST this system. I have tried everything they have suggested and more. After spending hundreds more to ATTEMPT to make this system compatible, I now have 3 routers operating on different channels in different parts of my house, additional UPS's at the two new routers, and multiple holes on my walls where I have tried repositioning the cameras. I am posting this on the product's home page, but will also post it at all three of the major retailers that sell this product, just in case this post becomes lost with my complaints.

Great images when working
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I could never get more than three of the cameras to connect at one time and usually only two would not cut out with "Out of Range" notice on the display monitor. I moved those two cameras and their associated receivers several times and they'd work for a while and then one or the other or both would drop "out of range". When I got one of them to stay on by moving it closer to the receiver, it over-rode the router signal to one of our computers and I had to move it further away and then it lost contact with the receiver. I tried extending the receivers to get them closer to the cameras with extension cables and during the last attempt, the recorder stopped sending a signal to the monitor. So, after fighting with this system for two weeks, I finally took it back to the store for a refund, where I was informed by the customer service rep that I was three days past the refund period and would have to settle for an in-store credit. Not wanting to be stuck with more than $700 charged to my credit card for an in-store credit, I asked to speak to the manager, who was most polite and understanding of my situation and he approved a full refund to my credit card. Because of the courteous and understanding response from the manager, I kept the small battery-back up APC unit that I bought to use with the recorder & monitor to use on something else and will be returning today to buy a new Garmin GPS unit. Kudos to the Paducah, KY Best Buy manager, but I can't rave about this security camera system.

Easy to install, Poor Quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After installing, within 4 months 1 camera lost connectivity. I troubleshot and found it was the camera has poor wireless service. I contacted Lorex and they want me to send it back(me paying for shipping). Now @ 6 months the hard drive has failed and now I have to pay to ship this DVR back. Also the wireless runs on 2.4GHz and provides so much interference while running 4 cameras that your 2.4GHz network wireless router is non-existent. If i could do it over again i would want a refund and purchase a higher end system that does NOT run on 2.4GHz from a different manufacturer.

Very dissapointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this system the end of August 14' two of the cameras did not work just after I installed them on the house, I called Lorex tech support, spoke to a techy who knew next to nothing about the system, and pretty much (after and hour on the phone between the hold time and talking with her) went with my guess, that one of the receivers was not working. Of the cameras that do work, imagine the worst cell phone movie image you can think of, and imagine these cameras being worse than that! The images are grainy, and they have no ability to see anything more than 100' away in daylight. Night vision is worse, can't see anything past 50', even though the box says you can see out to 90". The field of view is very narrow for security cameras, about 30 degrees, which you would think would give you better distance viewing. It does not. The signal strength is much poorer than advertised, my furthest camera is no more than 35' from the receiver, yet the signal is weak, even though the box says the signal should carry through 150' of your house. And to top it off, each wireless receiver (2), and the DVR, and of course the monitor all need their own a/c plug, so unless you have 4 empty outlets, or want to buy a power strip, you can't set the system up. Why on earth they did not make the receivers so they would be powered through usb wires from the DVR, or integrate them into the DVR, so you don't need as many outlets, I have no idea, its the stupidest set-up I've ever seen And another thing, the quality of the cameras seems iffy at best, really don't think they will work for long out in the elements. I can't wait to return these cameras, I am very sorry that I wasted so much time installing them, trying to get them to work, dealing with tech support, and now UN-installing them.

Too much money for this system
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good: It works Bad: Poorest instructions I have ever seen. Inability to turn infrared off. No instructions on how to view on PC. The system tells you a camera is "Out of Range" instead of "No signal" if power is shut off to camera. No zoom capability. Poor website support. I did not see a telephone support number anywhere. No instructions on recording or playback. I would not buy this if I knew it prior to purchase. Too late for me.

Worked great for a few days then...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I rate this product "ONE STAR" because: 1). one of the wireless receivers overheats intermittently and shuts down. I experience video loss for hours until it resets. This occurs 3 times after only 13 days of operation! The DVR in the meanwhile beeps incessantly. There is no way to stop the alarm without shutting down the DVR system! It defeats the purpose of the purchase if it is not operating. 2). Always long hold times at customer support. I tried several times and had to disconnect because I can't hold forever. I also submitted a ticket via email and still did not receive a response after 4 days! I finally spoke with tech support and was told that I must troubleshoot further to "drill down" the issue. I think it is black and white: I need a receiver and it's power supply. I am not asking for a whole new system. The other receiver operates flawlessly and it is plugged in the same APC unit. I have also plugged it into another outlet without effect. I do not want to swap the cord to the other receiver in fear of it damaging the "good" receiver. I can just imagine the troubleshooting that would have to occur with that. I am now regretting the investment in this product.
