Poor quality, poor support
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.BUYER BEWARE! System cabling is not UL listed leaving you with a FIRE HAZARD and replacing it will cost you hundreds more! Also look at Better Business Bureau complaints list and reviews before buying anything LOREX. This company is BAD NEWS. Support promised me a call back and then auto emailed me a notice that they had closed my ticket - Bad product, bad service.

Looks good but..l
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am still trying to get this system working. I believe that the company has a problem with power to the cameras (POE). Their customer service has been responsive, but I'm waiting for the second console replacement.

High Quality System
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Lorex surveillance system is a high quality system. I was impressed from the time I opened the box and how it was packaged. I had every intention of taking photos as I installed the system, but soon found out it was just too much. The recorder which serves as the power supply for the four cameras is a very sleek, brilliant white recorder. It is low profile, and where its installed in our entertainment center you can hardly notice it. The power cord, the Ethernet cable, the HDMI, and the slots for the camera’s are well laid out and they are all included. The directions to connect each of them are very simple. Do yourself a favor (NOT WHAT I DID) and install the camera’s, hook up the system, follow the prompts on your 4K television, THEN, download the Lorex app. Pros: The recorder is very user friendly. Again, it is well laid out and the color is aesthetically pleasing. In conjunction with the app, the system is fool proof. And this is coming from a State Trooper of 26 years. Take the time and look at where the camera’s need to be. Look for blind spots, obstructions, etc. Take the time and really consider where they NEED to be, and think about how people would try to defeat your system. The cameras with this system are very high quality. They are very clear. If installed at the proper recommended height, they are hard to defeat. I love the option that I can turn on the lights or the alert independently, or both at the same time. And they are both very effective, the lights are bright alert is VERY LOUD. I mounted my camera to cover the main entrance to our home, basically all four corners. I plan to purchase four more cameras, since this Lorex system is outfitted for 8. I like the fact that everything that you need to get set up and running is in the box, Lorex did and excellent job of that. I did purchase a longer HDMI cable as the one that was included was not long enough, but that was a minor issue. This took me a while to install. Not because it was difficult, it wasn’t, it is time consuming, I just wanted to take the time and really consider where I needed to place the camera’s. Once you decide on the location, Lorex gives you a sticker for each camera that makes it simple to locate where the attachment screws need to go. The cable that connects the cameras to the system has a very watertight connector that on one camera I could not install the wire as I wanted in the attic, but I’ve checked it several times to make sure that it is waterproof, and it is. Cons: My home is a ranch style two story home, and the attached CAT-5 wire on one camera was not long enough, I purchased a longer wire and wired it myself. I wish that the included camera cable were a little longer, maybe 200 ft for each camera. Granted, for some that may be overkill, but for me I had to finagle how I ran the wiring to make sure I had enough to reach the recorder. Even though I took the time and studied where I wanted the camera’s I did make the mistake of not considering head lights on vehicle as it turns toward the camera just above my garage. I simply moved the camera from the North side of my home a little more South, and the problem was solved. I would HIGHLY recommend the Lorex - 8-Channel, 4-Camera Indoor/Outdoor Wired 4K UHD 2TB NVR Surveillance System - White to anyone looking for a reliable, complete, high quality system.

Lorex 8 Channel, 4 Camera In/Outdoor Wired System
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just received my Lorex 8 Channel, 4 Camera Indoor/Outdoor Wired 4K UHD 2TB NVR Surveillance System last week, and decided to make a weekend project of and set it up and get it going. This system couldn't have come at a better time, being as how I'm about to close on a new house within the next 45 days. But to test this I decided to set this up temporarily at my current residence. The box is packed nice and neatly with everything being in individual boxes inside one big box. 1st box: is the 4K Ultra HD NVR (Network Video Recording) Base. This is the hub so to speak which houses all of the connection ports on the back (Ethernet, HDMI, VGA,etc). Also included in this box is the power cord for the base, as well as HDMI cord, and a mouse that plugs into the back of the base. 2nd box: is 4 huge bundle of Ethernet cord that is used to run along the walls inside/outside of your house depending on where you're planning to mount the cameras. Boxes 3, 4, 5, and 6: are the boxes that the 4 cameras are packed in. Mounting brackets are also included in the boxes. The cameras can be adjust Up/Down or Left/Right depending on which way you mount them. Just untighten the screws at the base a little and tighten them back once you have the desired angle. The part that took the most time setting this system up was the mounting process. You may need assistance from a friend to help you. It's not hard but its easier if you have someone to help you connect and run the lines where they need to be. One thing to keep in mind is that you will need to connect the HDMI cable which is included to either your TV or a VGA cable (not included), or to a separate computer monitor. Must be a desktop and not a laptop. You can also connect a VGA cable to a desktop monitor if your monitor does not have a HDMI port, luckily mine did. Once everything is connected, you basically follow the prompts in the setup guide on screen using the mouse that's included. After getting everything setup, I was amazed at the clairty of the video quality of the cameras. The lights flash and the slightest sense of motion, which may be good on the outside of your house. Just don't aim it directly into your neighbors windows. My current monitor is only 1080p, however, I plan on getting a 4K monitor after I move and get settled. The clarity of everything outside is amazing and you can also use the Lorex Home companion app downloaded from your favorite app store on iOS App Store for iPhones or the Google Play Store for Androids. Also included in the documentation along is 2 Lorex Secuirty window cling stickers that lets outsiders know your home is protected by Lorex 24 Hour Protection Video Surveillance.

Awesome no-fees wired surveillance system
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Lorex 8-Channel, 4-Camera Indoor/Outdoor Wired 4K UHD 2TB NVR Surveillance System is a remarkable home surveillance system that was surprisingly easy to setup yet very high quality. The fact that there are no ongoing fees makes the system that much better but please note that this is a WIRED NVR system so you should only consider this particular product if you are able to run ethernet wiring from wherever you are placing the cameras to wherever you are placing the NVR. Setup was relatively easy and straightforward thanks to the quick setup guide that comes with the system. The hardest part is the wiring since you really have to plan it out and figure out how you are going to run the necessary wires. Since the cameras receive their power via the ethernet cables, you need to plan ahead of time how far away the cameras will be from the NVR. If the distance is greater than 100 feet for any one camera, you will need a power-over-ethernet compatible network switch in between the NVR and any cameras further than 100 feet away since the power-over-ethernet cables are limited to a distance of 100 feet. This additional switch is not included with this system which is why it is important to figure this out ahead of time so you don’t have to stop in the middle of your installation if it turns out you need the additional switch. I would also suggest plugging everything in and testing each of the cameras before installing everything where it is supposed to go just to make sure everything is working the way it should. When it comes to performance, I was truly amazed by the picture and recording quality once everything was setup. I really like the mobile app and the control it gives me over the entire system including the different types of notifications I want to receive from the system. The Active Deterrence is a great feature and the Color Night Vision worked better than expected although this should not be confused with the infrared night vision feature. The Color Night Vision is for low-light conditions (meaning you at least need some source of light) whereas the infrared night vision is your more traditional black and white night vision for the dark. If you have at least minimal lighting outside overnight, the Color Night Vision really enhances the system’s ability to identify more details in low light in comparison to the infrared night vision. Overall, the Lorex 8-Channel, 4-Camera Indoor/Outdoor Wired 4K UHD 2TB NVR Surveillance System is a great home surveillance system if you are looking for something more reliable than the wireless systems that are out there and I highly recommend it!

A True 4K Video Security System that YOU Control!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the system I have been waiting for to finally cut the cord on the recurring subscription fees, the lack of features, and frustration I was getting from my Nest outdoor cameras/service. As long as you have power, which I would advise keeping the main NVR unit connected to a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) you are protected with outstanding video footage of your property with Lorex. You also have total control of your devices, the recording quality, and privacy of knowing only you will have access to your recordings - for as long you like, with the option to backup offsite, to cloud, AWS, etc. Install is a process of course, but to be expected in a hardwired POE camera system. This package included 4 Cameras, 30 meters of Ethernet cable for each, and the NVR. I used a 1" bit for wire drops and it worked well. I installed 2 interior (Office & Garage) and 2 exterior (Driveway & Patio) wired back to the office where I have the NVR connected to my 4K Samsung TV. After a quick & intuitive setup on the the TV, we were up and running with amazingly crystal clear video images. The NVR is responsive and quickly, and the UI is VERY user friendly and intuitive. Setting up the Lorex Home app on the NVR for remote viewing was a breeze also. The Lorex Home app works well, and allows you to view the cameras and recordings from anywhere, receive notifications, trigger sirens and turn on lights. There is also the Lorex Fusion aspect, which i am unfamiliar as this is the first Lorex item I have owned - but plan to expand ASAP! Fusion allows integration of other security devices, lights, cameras, sensors, etc. Goodbye cloud fees and hello Lorex!

Great Security System
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have never had a full security camera system before but I am glad to have gotten this one. Starting off with install. This is not the easiest thing to do because you must run network cables from the NVR out to the cameras. The easiest way is to either run the cables through the crawl space or attic of a house. I would only recommend this system if you have a business or house. Installing on anything else could be tricky. Other than running the cables the setup is as easy as plugging them in. One thing that i like about this system is that the initial setup is extremely easy and straight forward. It walks you through naming the cameras and everything else that is necessary. Adding the app to your phone and setting it up was also very simple. The 4K quality of these cameras is amazing. I like that it can display in 4K on your TV as long as you have a 4K TV. The image is super sharp. These cameras also have two way audio, lights, and night vision. The system comes with 4 cameras but you can add up to an additional 4 which is a bonus. One of my favorite things is that the it comes with a 2TB HHD which stores video footage locally but you are still able to access it via the network. Since this is the case you do not have to pay any monthly fees or rely on cloud storage. I would highly recommend this product for anyone who owns a home or business and would like to add some protection/sense of security. This option with the NVR is especially nice for people who need to monitor there home while they are away via the APP.

4K Technology - crystal clear video
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just moved into our new house and was able to get this system installed. Amazing video quality. Really like the alert feature. System can tell if motion is caused by human or object. Comes with NVR so no worries about storing too much video (recording). App included so can check in on house from anywhere. Love it!

Excellent Camera System
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love this system. First off, the picture quality is great. Both daytime and night vision are crisp and clear, and the added spotlight for night vision gives you extra detail and deterrence than just plain night vision doesn’t. User interface is very simple and intuitive, and makes it easy to configure exactly what kind of notifications and surveillance you want. The smartphone app is also excellent. It’s a very well polished app and doesn’t’ feel like an afterthought like some other security apps. It makes reviewing and saving clips really easy. Overall, this is an absolutely fantastic security camera system, and one I would easily recommend.

Great 4k NVR system
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was pretty impressed with the quality of the system for the $$. It included the NVR, 4 100' network cables, 4 indoor/outdoor cameras and a mouse. The setup was pretty smooth but you would need to hook it up to our tv or a monitor first. Then the setup of the mobile app was a breeze and required no IT skill. I have not had a chance to test the apple tv integration but there is an app and you can ask siri to launch it. The only issue I did not like is that hdd was only 2tb and will fill up fast. Also the idle nose is quite loud so depending on where you keep it can be annoying. Very please with the Image quality of the camera's and no monthly fee's.

Security that you can count on
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nothing against a ring system or a Google nest system or anything like that but this is good old-fashioned my cameras and my DVR to record it. The memory is internal and with two terabytes I can go back two days on all four cameras, maybe longer but that was as far as I tested it. If you don't need some fancy over the top security system this is just what you need. Worth every $700 penny.

Great Picture and Features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very pleased with tia camera system. Setup is a it more than a wireless system but once you have the cable In place, these work amazing. POE (power over Ethernet) is nice so you don’t have to have power where the cameras are located. Setup was easy and the application for phone works very well. If you are looking for a quality camera system without a struggle, this would be it.

Notifications Bad
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this system from an installer who did a great job and has been very helpful is setting up the system to minimize false notifications and am writing this review as a caution to potential buyers. I have no issues with the cameras or the associated app for monitoring, but have several issues with the firmware. Anyone buying this system in order to monitor motion from the app needs to be aware that motion detection is an issue. The firmware makes the cameras extremely sensitive to light changes which causes numerous false notifications, especially on partly cloudy days when the light in the monitored area changes. The firmware does not allow deletion of particular recording periods, only a complete re-formatting. Customer service is pretty much non-existent from Lorex. Feedback normally results in only a canned response that is not very helpful.
