    Could be better

The main reason I bought this brand is because I wanted to be able to turn the lights on and trigger the siren. Those two were featured in this product. However, after testing the light at dark made no difference whatsoever. I could not even tell if it was or not if I am not of course looking directly to it. I thought it was like a flood light or something. That was disappointing. Now the siren, when you turn it on there is a warning saying that it’s loud and should only be activated if necessary. I was hesitant to trigger it. But when I did it sounded like a new born kitten calling its mother. Not loud at all. Motion detection is way off. It supposed to have smart motion but it is just as dumb. I get notifications for a none moving cars every few minutes. I played with the settings but did not notice any difference. Night vision is ok. But not colored if you have lights outside as they advertise. Picture is great. That’s the reason it got 3 stars from me. Don’t expect to see license plate that is Over 130 feet away. Any closer any camera could capture that. I use ispyconnect on my pc and it does way better job at motion detection, face recognition. The app is a joke in every way. All the bad reviews it got on iOS and android still not trying to fix it.

Love how simple this system was to get up and running! The four cameras was really straight forward, my only decision was where to actually place them. The coverage it gives is fantastic and you are able to see very clear. I love being able to have a system that won’t fail due to WiFi etc.i hope this up to a UPC power supply to give a few hours of additional back up Incase of power failure. If you are looking for a system to keep an eagle eye on your area this is it!

I honestly didnt get to use it. I only purchased it as I heard good things about it, but I went with the Arlo camera system due to it being wireless and I didnt need to drill any holes.

Have had this system and sitting in a box. Hired geek squad to instaand they said it cant be dine in a 2 story house. Now Inam here going through things I wasted time and money on. Came accross this and got disappointed all over again. Maybe i can still get my money back since i didn’t get to use this system. Contractors that came did not even try to figure out how to make the system work. From the minute i opened the door, they had the bad news for me. I wouldnt buy any security system from here without a guarantee of being able to use it for whats intended. Sitting in abox does nothing.

Not 4K resolution! 1K at best!

This is not a 4K system! I am upgrading from a 1K swann, and the resolution is the same. I cannot read a license plate from 30 feet away and any amount of zoom blurs the image. Just got off the phone with support, and confirmed with her supervisor, camera are not designed to read license plates (security system right?) from more than 5 feet (?!?) and blurry pixilation at any amount of zoom is normal. We verified that system was setup correctly, and I was asked to park a car within 5 feet of a camera. On playback, it seems to try to improve the quality with an algorithm, but gives the video a computer generated feel. The good news, if this was a 1K system, I would give it 5 stars! Toe to toe with the Swann 1K, this is a good system. The app works great and the colors at lower light are better, even though it is not color night vision as advertised. Also, the motion activated warning light is not a spot light as illustrated on the box, it's more of an annoying led to get your attention.

I chose Lorex for their warranty and reputation. Read countless reviews on this unit. A few claimed loud fan noise. IT DOES HAVE VERY LOUD FAN NOISE. Not suitable for living room. Bought yesterday and am returning today.

    Poor Value: Look Elsewhere

While I could trash the under-developed app, subpar and counter-intuitive nvr menu system, and the vacant online support (good luck actually finding an owner’s manual), I’ll just focus on two aspects you would expect to function in a home surveillance camera: motion detection and notifications of major incidents (person/vehicle). I’m returning this product because motion detection is basically non-existent. A person has to literally walk 2 feet in front of the camera in order for the system to flag the event as a motion detection. The “zones” are useless. To make matters worse, the notification delay is inexcusably long. In a true emergency, by the time the app notifies you of a detection, the person would have enough time to enter your home and find you. It’s at least a 45 second delay. Forget staying on top of cars pulling into the zone. By the time you get the alert, the car will be long gone, with close to a minute to spare on their end. Your money is better spent on a dog. Especially at nearly $1k to get setup (cameras, extended cables, and installation). This is a very underwhelming security system. If you enjoy recklessly throwing your money away and/or you get a thrill from being hopelessly unaware of your home’s security, then you’ll love this system.

    Do not recommend this

When it works, it is great! But there are so many issues from not connecting to the app, not staying connected, motion sensor not working properly, and cameras failing. I purchased the extended warranty and DO NOT RECOMMEND doing that! You will have to take EVERYTHING back to the store! Not just the one single camera that fails...the WHOLE SYSTEM! SO, you install everything, then have one camera fail, now you have to uninstall EVERYTHING, take it back to the store, get a whole new system, take that home and install it, then have a camera fail only to repeat the entire process!
