The "we only use about 10 percent of our brain" theory is intriguing, but purely fictional just like the movie. Lucy is a student in Taipei, Taiwan until she's forced into being a drug mule. When the mysterious drug leaks into her body, she gains superhuman abilities including telepathy, telekinesis, and the inability to feel pain. Some will have trouble understanding a lot of the story, but some science fiction is like that. Get it for the action, visuals, and Scarlett Johansson. Note for those looking at the 4k Blu-Ray: the disc will only play on a player that clearly has the "UHD Blu-Ray" logo on the front of the player, and you'll need a 4k TV with a high speed HDMI cable, and other essential equipment. Otherwise, it does include the regular Blu-Ray disc. So only buy if you collect the 4k discs.

What It Might Be Like If We Used More Than 10%

The review summary refers to a number that has been stated in the movie and elsewhere, that humans on average use only 10% of our brainpower, though that number is in some dispute. This is a Luc Besson film, if you know his style (for example: The Fifth Element, Leon The Professional), you will not be disappointed. Scarlett Johansson delivers and Morgan Freeman is always good. Theoretical concepts come fast and furious, piling one on top another. Enjoy the ride.

Firstly, this terrific, entertaining, intelligent film is NOT Black Widow on hiatus from The Avengers.Though, while waiting for the Marvelverse to realize she deserves her solo feature--supported by the rest of the gang-LUCY will more than suffice & whet the appetite. Scarlett Johanssen proves--again--that she has the talent to carry a movie. Yes, there's enough action for Marvel fans & the CGI effects are the best this side of spiked sugar cube. Add Morgan Freeman as a wise, understanding professor whose theories of mind expansion collide with Lucy's unintentional dosage of a drug which stimulates brainpower. Watching these two interact is a lesson as to how not to be caught acting. Lucy captivates from the start & never releases the viewer even after the surprise finale. Check out LUCY --you'll not be disappointed.

If you want to see a real 'trip', then this movie definitely is one. A young woman gets mixed up in a bad situation and ends up trafficking drugs against her will. What happens after that is pretty awesome and unexpected with the movie combining topics of self, time, and existence itself. I'd rather not give it away, its worth a buy and watch! Pointing this out though: You will have to suspend your disbelief for much of the film, it is a completely 'out there' premise. For 4K: 5/5 for both video and audio. As a newer and modern film, this makes sense, but the 4K definitely makes everything pop and look far sharper in detail. The visual effects in the film also look superb in UHD.

I thought it was a great movie to dream about what would happen if indeed we could use all of our brain potential. We could cure our own diseases, which would come in very handy for me who suffers from an awful autoimmune deficiency, read minds, communicate with animals, etc. However, as always man finds a way to find destruction in the good things... Also, I guess the saying "too much of a good thing isn't good" applies as well, as without spoiling the movie for others not knowing every little thing gives life some fun and hope.

Lucy will not speak to a wide audience but those that fall within its target reach should be rewarded with thought-provoking science fiction.

This movie is good with plenty of action and effects. Scarlett Johansson stars as a college student who falls into the world of illegal drug trade and forced to smuggle into the US. Morgan Freeman is a professor who has spent years studying the brain and it's limits. Basically the movie goes into what the brain may go through when used at 100%. The plot gets sketchy but the action keeps you up. Will Lucy survive this ordeal? Good movie and the artwork on the box is cool for collectors.

Lucy is an INCREDIBLE film that I could watch a million times and never be tired. Director Luc Besson explores the reaches of evolution and human potential in Lucy. Scarlett Johansson delivers a performance that leaves me in awe of her ability to slowly transform into an almost robotic human being. Morgan Freeman offers a calm tranquility in this action packed film with his performance as a doctor of science. The video editing in Lucy is genius and the splicing of the film with clips of wild animal behavior is true art. I see Lucy 2 is TBA on Besson's filmography and I am ecstatic! Simply filling out this review makes me want to watch the movie right now...I think I will!

While the premise that over dosing on a new powerful designer drug gives you super powers is a little hard to swallow. Once you accept that, the movie is a non-stop thrill ride that is loads of fun to watch. It makes you think about just what a person could do if they could tap into those unused portions of the brain. I will add that the old adage that we only use 10% of our brains is total BS, but don't let facts get in the way of enjoying this film.

Interesting but not rousing story about pushing the limits of the human brain. Doesn't pop like director Luc Besson's earlier, "The Fifth Element" but is reasonably entertaining throughout. Scarlett Johanson puts her all into her performance of a role that is necessarily subtle and reserved. While the transition to superhuman is rather sad, it's an essential step. Good science fiction but not greatly entertaining, it still has a clever and upbeat ending and a memorable message.

The movie is outstanding...thought provoking. My biggest problem is that the movie distributor packages it along with a DVD and ultraviolet digital copy...neither of which I want. I'm tired of paying for things I don't need or want. I am adopting a new strategy...for years I have bought BR movies as soon as they were available. Now I'm going to wait until the price comes down 50%. It's time that the big retailers started exerting some buying pressure on the distributors.

Maybe I was having technical issues, seeing as I'm playing this on a new stereo (to get the 4k input/output), but it didn't seem to play in true surround, just stereo, or forced "all-channel" stereo mode. I tried every mode on my stereo, and this UHD disc did not play on all channels, even though other DVDs and blu-rays did. Picture quality was amazing; this movie is definitely a showcase for the eye-popping graphics you want to see with 4k.

If you like action movies, and love super heroes, and enjoyed watching The Avengers and the Marvel comics movies like Captain America and Iron Man featuring Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff a.k.a. THE BLACK WIDOW, then you might want to give LUCY a try, it's sort of like Black Widow solo film featuring Scarlett as the main star in this action adventure thriller. Don't get caught up on acting, just sit back and enjoy the eye candy of the action sequences.
