I love LUCY :- )
Imagine a stranger-in-a-strange-land revenge thriller about a wide-eyed Anglo bombshell (Scarlett Johansson) who gets kidnapped and abused in Taiwan by nasty, sweaty, shouting Korean gangsters and then escapes to seek justice - That is just the the first 10 minutes and the movie set you up to want to find out what happens next to our girl.
Without giving much away, "Lucy" is a fun, confident work. It's fast and tight and playful even when it's sadistic and violent, which is often.
The movie runs about 90 minutes but feels longer in a good way, because every second is packed tight...I would recommend this high octane fun ride.
With Scarlett Johanson and Morgan Freeman. Starts off slow but takes you for a 90 minute ride. Typical Luc Besson film and Scarlett Johanson does a credible job playing Lucy. I enjoyed it and I recommend it as a fun escape movie.
Lucy may not have the best plot, but it has Scarlett Johansson. She carries the movie with a little help from Morgan Freeman. Lucy is directed by the Luc Besson who also did La Femme Nikiita, The Professional, and The Fifth Element. Besson has a track record for female action heroes and doesn't disappoint, nor does Scarlett Johansson. Of the current female leads, no one quite sounds as good as Johansson either. Great performance by Scarlett Johansson.
