A: When opening the door, outside air replaces the cold air inside which is now falling out at the bottom ( remember cold air is heavier and flows out bottom cavity when you open door ). When you close the door back, it starts cooling that newly warmer air that came in and this causes a STRONG Suction on the door if it has good seals ( cold air condenses - hot air expands ). Once that air is cooled down inside, the door will open easily. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this because it can slightly deform the thinner doors I see on units nowadays, but For those that don't believe me, grab your door on the top corner above handle side and pull. This will break the tight seal from that corner instead of the whole length of the door....or just wait 30 seconds or so to re=open. Listen closely, when you close the door after its been open a minute or so ( hotter outside, faster it does this ) and you will hear a low swooshing sound by door / seal as it is cooling that air that just got in. My son had the same problem and thought it was locking by itself. After checking the lock mechanism and trying it myself, I realized what he was experiencing was just a good door seal and the issue explained above. I explained it to him and now he understands. We should all teach each other what we know.
Q: How can it set as a refrigerator only?
A: Inside is one large space with shelves and drawers on the bottom. You just raise the temperature it is set at to use as a refrigerator. Love mine. Bought two more for my office.

I really love that this can be either a refrigerator or a freezer depending on your setting. I was looking for a counter depth refrigerator for my kitchen and discovered these. I'm doing a kitchen remodel so I bought two because I can make room for them in my configuration. I have one set to refrigerator and one set to freezer. This has been working very well, the storage is excellent and without a lot of extra stuff in the way like a bulky ice maker or water dispenser. Also buying both was cheaper than buying most normal refrigerators. I bought the medium and the large sizes. It's worth knowing that on the large one you still get four shelves with two drawers. Obviously there's more space for each shelf but they don't add a fifth. This review is for the large which I am using as a freezer. Since there are no dividers aside from the bottom drawers I bought trees to organize my stuff. See picture. The shelves themselves are 17 in deep by 26 in wide. I had the hardest time finding that when I was buying online so I figured I'd pass this on. The only slightly annoying thing is the fridge beeps every time you open it, I'd imagine this is useful if you had kids or something. It also beeps over and over if you leave it open too long. This is annoying when you have to clean it but a good reminder if it didn't close all the way. Be aware the doors are not reversible because they have the temperature controls on them, so they are wired in I have really enjoyed this product, it was perfect for what I wanted

We purchased a PAIR of these for our gourmet kitchen when our fridge finally died after 15 years. We use one for the fridge and one for the freezer. Comparably sized setups from the boutique brands (e.g. Kitchen Aide) can cost upwards of $8,000! For about $1600 we have 42 cubic feet of refrigerated storage. Because of the extreme height of the 21 cf model, we did have to alter our cabinets a bit, but it was worth it for the extra capacity. The 17 cf model would have fit but they were sold out. In the end I'm glad we went with the larger 21. One note: per the owners manual, these units have unique requirements for distance from walls. These units require additional space - not sure why. It's probably overkill, but to be safe I installed cooling/circulation fans at the rear/base of the units that draws in cool air and exhausts out the base/bottom of the units. The noise is hardly noticeable and it's peace of mind that they won't be overheating. The only thing I'm disappointed about is the inability to swap the door opening from RH to LH. This is a very common feature that is not available on these units.
