These switches are really well made and work great! I have installed 9 so far. I was going to get an electrician but decided to read all the instructions very well and do it myself. I did mix up the hot and load wires one time but it didn't hurt the switch. The hardest thing for me is fitting it all back into the wall box. If you take your time with each wire and push it as far back as you can spreading them out evenly as possible, the switch will fit just fine. I use Homekit (Apple) for my automation setup. It works great. I like being able to tell Siri what to turn on/off. Or use the switch itself and the app to control our lighting. We like to keep outside lights on at night so I just have them automated to turn on and off at sunrise or sundown. If you enjoy playing around with automation like I do, these won't disappoint. I installed the first switches I bought about a year ago and still working great so far.

I have had these installed for a while now and they work flawlessly while maintaining an elegant appearance that fits into any surroundings. I have integrated them with my SmartThings Hub and Alexa and also added a Pico remote (sold separately) paired to this switch to create an additional light switch where it is impossible to install a physically wired switch. In short, with the Caseta system, you can get around decades-old lighting dilemmas just by switching out a decades-old light switch, and you can do it yourself in about 15 minutes.

After going through several cheaper and problematic wifi switches commonly found on Amazon, I finally switched over to the Lutron Caseta ecosystem and have not once looked back. These things are just rock solid. The bridge / hub never goes down and response time has always been instant. I think this is the one line of smarthome products I’ve never actually had a single issue with.

This works great, we hooked this to an outlet that is out of reach for easy access. Now I can turn lighted decor on and off in my nook above the tv.

So far I bought eight of these and I will continue to purchase many more. These switches are very convenient and reliable. They are easy to install and operate. You will need a bridge to be paired with Homekit and others. Also a neutral wire is a must.

This is a very easy to install basic on/off switch that integrates with the Caseta family and controller for home automation and compatible with Alexa, IFTTT, etc. Once integrated, you can also establish automated schedules and routines to automate and protect your home. I have numerous Caseta switches installed and they work great with both incandescent and LED lighting.

We moved into an older home and I have been wanting to have the ability to turn on/off the lights in various rooms when we are not home or heading home. I researched tons of smart home products, even purchasing a few iDevice switches (very bulky and unable to fit into the older electrical boxes) because I did not want an additional hub device. We have long been in the Apple ecosystem, so we prefer items that are Homekit compatible. Why Homekit? Because the data isn't stored on the cloud, isn't sold, and must be encrypted per Apple standards. Using the Homekit app enables us to go through one app rather than 10. The switches once installed and linked to the hub are incredibly easy to use as just normal dimmers with decently sized buttons so even grandma is happy. Setting preset dim levels is easy too, so most of the time it's a single touch on, single touch off - already better than 99% of non-smart dimmer switches out there. Pricey - yes - but you get what you pay for. We bought this starter set to get the hub, and then separate switches. The hub is easy - we have it downstairs with our router and it feeds all of the switches in the house. It's quite small - a single Ethernet cable to the back of our router, and a small plug into the outlet. The Lutron app is super simplistic, easy to use and has a great user interface. Setup via the app was unbelievably easy. There's one kill switch at the top of the app screen that will turn off all Lutron-connected devices in that room at once - very handy when my kids leave lights on. Once the switch is connected to the app, it's automatically in Homekit. We will be adding more Lutron Casetas to other rooms soon!

Reliable smart phone controlled light switches

I have several of these smart phone operable light switches around my house. They are awesome. A little pricy for each but work great with my wifi service. They are reliable and the APP is user friendly. The Lutron technical assistance is great. I install these units myself in 10-20 minutes. I have a few of these in 3 way light switches and they work very well. They look good as well.

    Top-Notch Homekit switch!

I have had many different brands of Homekit switches that I've tried over the years and have had varying levels of success. These are a little bit more expensive than some of the brands out there and they require a hub (included if you get a starter kit) but they work flawlessly, are super easy to setup, and worth every penny. I will slowly begin swapping out all my other Homekit switches with these.

So, I was unlucky enough to have received a faulty switch - one with a mechanical failure within a month of installing. I contacted Lutron, who switched out the switch within a week - excellent customer service. Further, the switch otherwise works flawlessly and was quite easy to install (though, note - you need a neutral wire for this switch).

While it takes a little time setup, it is entirely worth it. I also thought this is expensive way to go, it is still really worth it. I have had control of my lights and it is very responsive turning on and off. Will be getting more for certain lights I need the remote control. Since I have bought it, I have not had any issues. It works!

Expensive, yes, but worth the money. I have a basic understanding of electrical wiring and was able to install these into home built in 1976. Love that system uses a hub connected to ethernet port saving connection time and hassle. Genuine plug and play. Lutron recently updated software to allow for 50 devices to be operated from same single hub! Truly the Apple of WiFi smart home products.

A Great Alternative to the Dimmer

    |

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Over the past couple years I've upgraded most of our switches to the Caseta line, primarily using the standard wireless dimmer with pico remote. However, that basic 2-wire, 2A switch does not always work properly with some LED equipment, and it has been frustrating to be unable to connect those lights (in my case some recessed LED fixtures) to the smart home controls. Enter this 5A, 3-wire solution!! While it does lack the dimming capability of the standard dimmer, the addition of a neutral wire and increased peak load (for startup of the LEDs) has finally allowed us to connect these pesky recessed lights. So, if you want to dim your lights, skip this, but if you need broader support for LEDs that didn't work with the standard Caseta dimmer, check this out as a great alternative.
