Bad Responsiveness

I get a "this webpage is using significant amount of energy. Closing it may improve the responsiveness of the Mac." ...and I'm not even using large capacity webpages- I'm a college student and I'm using Canvas, or Quizlet. Before I bought this computer, I spoke with a Best Buy representative and told them that I need a computer that can run my apps without issue, as my last computer (a 2010 Mac) crashed when I was using one photoshop app. He said the 8GB of ram on an M1 Chip should be enough to process everything smoothly...and its not. This crappy MacBook is only good if you don't use it! maybe opening a small word document, or just occasional shopping, but not a good computer if you have a legitimate need for a computer.
