If you need a laptop now and can't wait for Apple to improve on its M1 chip later in 2021 or early 2022, get the late 2020 MacBook Air or MacBook Pro. You won't regret it. A smooth, fast, capable machine that is quick, stays cool and lasts a good long time on a single charge. Watch for occasional deals and you will feel even better about the purchase the more you use it.

So light, you might forget you're carrying it. So beautiful, you might find it hard to tear your eyes away. The redesigned Apple® MacBook Air® laptop is up for whatever you have in mind. Fall in love with the built-for-stability keyboard and the roomy Force Touch trackpad, as an Intel Core i3 processor helps put your daily to-do list to bed -- and wakes up your creativity. Simply put, this laptop is a triumph.

I am a data science researcher and I was worried about Unified Memory (RAM) size and the compatibility of my current programs. After using this laptop as my only laptop for over a month, there is nothing to be worried about! I use Matlab, Python, Terminal, specific packages made for Intel, Cellprofiler, Adobe, Office 365, Zoom, Chrome, and more! Everything runs great!!! No hiccups no compatibility issues.. Nothing. Unified Memory (RAM) is never a problem. Having all office apps open, illustrator and acrobat, safari, 5 desktops minimum, spotify, and other apps I use occasionally, it runs SMOOTH! I regularly hit 6.6GBs of 8GB use. I notice there is use of the swap memory more often, but the engineers at Apple, latest SSD controllers, and the latest SSD storage is able to handle this and even longterm. Battery life is amazing! No issues. Runs smooth and fast. Buy the baseline Macbook Air do not buy the pro or the 16GB Unified Memory.

The screen on this laptop is gorgeous, the Touch ID is quick and a wonderful addition to a personal computer, the keyboard is best in class (so much better than those butterfly keyboards of old), and all of this in a thin, light machine. I love the portability of this computer, as it will be a main computer and a travel companion. Anything that needs pulled up feels as if it is waiting on demand - everything just snaps up and loads so quickly. The only complaint I have with the MacBook Air is its battery capacity. I will not deduct a star for the battery capacity because it will pretty much make it through an eight hour work day of productivity tasks including surfing the web, streaming and air playing video, and typing documents. After the eight hours have passed, the computer is on fumes and needs charged. This does meet my needs, though my three year old MacBook Pro did do better on lasting my daily needs. I am always near a charging outlet and charger, so this isn’t a huge deal, but I worry about battery degradation. This computer is such a powerhouse in such a small package and at a relatively affordable price considering what you get and after paying the Apple premium. It makes light work of all the tasks I throw at it. I definitely recommend this comptuer.

Picked this up during the back to school sale and got a great deal. My primary use for this is school work, as so far everything has been great. I was hesitant to get a Mac because I’m very used to Windows processing. However, I’m glad I made this purchase and I am slowly getting used to it. Battery life is great, sleek and easy to carry, no loud fan sound, literally no complaints.

A Classic Laptop at a Good Price

I've had other Macs in the past, but more recently have suffered through several PC laptops. This laptop is a breath of fresh air. To me, macOS is better designed and more consistent than Windows these days. Build quality is fabulous and the screen is bright and crisp. The M1 chip is fast, and battery life is stellar. Nits are minor: the design and bezels look a tad on the old side, I miss a touch screen, and the web cam is average at best. Given the much higher price of the M2 Air, though, and the sale price of this device ($799, thanks, BB!), purchasing this was a no-brainer for me. Highly recommended!

I wish I would have gone to Mac years ago! After a few years my old laptops would get bogged down with the antivirus software...painfully slow in starting up...we've all been there! Not anymore. Apple has its own security features...bye bye Norton. Lightning fast, small and compact, perfect for at home or travel. This would be ideal for traveling students as well, super light.

I have an M1 MacMini and bought this M1 MacBook Air to use on the road/traveling. The Air is slim and has the same snappy performance as the Mini. Both are great. With no fan and a solid-state drive, it's ideal as a traveling computer. I highly recommend it. Also, the lower price of the Air and its similar performance made it simple for me to buy it rather than the MacBook Pro.

I love Best Buy, for being very patient with me in my purchase decision. After a lot of research I decided go to M1 MacBook Pro. Laptop nowadays with reasonable settings are getting so expensive that financially for me made more sense going to a brand that have a good reputation just adding a little more. The machine is fast, display outstanding, battery lasts forever. Very happy with the purchase.

Bought this solely for the inevitable return to campus for college. Even despite that the M1 does work quite well as a regular laptop despite the limited ports available. Touch ID is quick and responsive just as it was on older iPhones, and the battery life is second only to the M1 MacBook Pro. I have only used it so far for writing papers and for streaming and out of the box it went from 80% to roughly 75% after 3 hours. Even on standby mode it sips power and I have yet to plug it in to fully charge as it is that well optimized for battery life. At $800 for an ultrabook its a great price to pick up as it easily can beat others in the same price range. at normal MSRP of $999 you may want to see how well it might work for you but is still a solid contender.

I've been using this laptop for about 2 weeks now, and it's been reliable and very, very fast. All the features that have been implemented are really nice to have, such as opening the lid and having it promptly up and running. I never thought it would make any difference for my use, but it does. Also, it's very fast for almost all the tasks that I've thrown at it. I often do light work, such as web browsing, Word and Excel and some video editing for my child videos and some work videos as well, and even using Adobe Premiere Pro, which's not optimized for it yet, runs very smoothly, with one or two glitches here and there. I've used a MacBook Pro 13 from 2014 and 2018, and then migrated to a Razer Blade 15 2019, but none of them were as good as this simple 8 Gb and 256 Gb SSD MacBook Air (except for gaming, of course). The keyboard is excellent and much better than the old version butterfly mechanism ones, which started failing on me after 2 months on my old Pro 13. The screen is alright, not the best looking ones with these bezels. And build quality, well... Expect an Apple product build quality, so, it's pretty good for its class and price. I'm thinking of buying another one with more RAM and SSD storage, and keeping this one for my wife, but, truly, I'm already very satisfied with this one. If you own a MacBook Air or even a MacBook Pro 13 with the low end specs and if you're thinking of upgrading, this is definitely a buy, again, with some more SSD storage.

I recently picked up the MacBook Air 13.3 from Best Buy, and it's been an absolute game-changer. Apple's sleek design, a stunning Retina display, and the M1 chip's power make it a powerhouse. Plus, the battery life is off the charts, and the keyboard/trackpad combo is a joy to use. It's the complete package for anyone who wants the best in a laptop, even if the port selection is a tad limited. In short, the MacBook Air 13.3 is a winner and a testament to Apple's enduring excellence.
